What do you think of it? Are there hiddened charges taxes an such they do not tell you about?

There are no hidden costs, as far as I know BUT the phone line runs through your internet connection. Essentially, it's a computer based phone line. Which means, if your internet is down, so is your phone. If your computer crashes, you have no phone. I'd only have this if you have a cell phone as well. You need to be able to dial 911...

We have it. I know that some people have no problems, but we have problems all the time. Our internet connection is fine, but it constantly drops call.

We looked into Magic Jack, but your computer has to be on all the time for calls to go through and it drops calls a lot.

We went with Ooma phone service. We have been happy with it.

...are because of your internet speed?

Typically, to carry streaming voice/video, one needs to have a faster internet connection than the entry-level Cable/DSL.

Dont' get cheap... If you want VOIP system, get a real one via your cable company and pay for reliable service..

The Clapper was a better then this junk..

We were part of their trial program a couple of years ago and I think I lasted all of 6 or 7 days before I sent it back because our cable internet just couldn't produce a clear connection. It doesn't sound like they've improved it much.

I don't know - I mean we have Vonage now but our price has increased so much that I don't recommend it either. I'm seriously considering just dropping our home phone service and going Cell Phones only.

I bought it for my father who lives in another country. I set it up here in the U.S. and sent it to him. It works great for us. It saves us the cost of those expensive international phone calls. I've read that if you have other programs running in the background at the same time, you will have a bad connection. Although we haven't had much problem with it. It works fine for us.

My husband works from home and uses magicJack as his "office" phone and so far it has worked perfectly. I wouldn't rely on it as our only phone - we both also have our cell phones - but it serves his purposes well.

We've had MajicJack since Aug 2010. It works great. No problem with dropped calls. I would buy it again.

I like that voicemail is emailed to you. So, I can check it from anywhere I can check my email.

We use it as our primary home phone. DH & I also have cell phones.

My husband is a manager for a retailer that sells the MagicJack. He feels it works best for people who do a lot of international calling.

He says the biggest complaint from customers is "dropped calls".

It will save you money in the long run just be aware that you will experience dropping and your computer will have to running constantly.
