Is the only way to get one through purchasing a package? I was gonna get an AP , and book a room only reservation. I want one but wasn't sure if they come with a room only ressie ?

You get one for staying on property; it doesn't matter if it's room only or a package. And in fact, you also get one if you have an AP.

Yup, you'll get 2 (hotel and AP)

You get one for booking a room, and one for AP.

You get one for AP + one for room reservation + any you want to buy in the parks

AP holder here and stayed offsite for the past two trips. Where I've had a MagicBand.

I believe anyone can get a MagicBand but if not DVC, AP or staying onsite, you might have to buy it at the parks.

Incredible. Thanks everyone. I haven't been in the parks since May 0f 2013. It is like a completely different Disneyworld.
