MagicBand+ at Walt Disney World *NOW AVAILABLE!!!*

I knew this would happen lol. Ordered our MBs on 4/22 because I jumped when I saw the plain colored ones my DH and one DD wanted. We don't go until July so we would have had time for these. Oh well, plain ones it is! Disney is getting enough of our money

I'm in the same boat -- jumped when the ones we wanted were on-line for our July trip. But, we are all happy with our designs or plain bands, and so I'm just going to be happy and not worry about it.

same here! It is what it is. We will have just as much fun with the plain ones!

Hoping I'll be able to pre-order these for my June trip. I arrive on 6/14 so crossing my fingers.

Any ideas where the June 2022 timeframe is coming from and whether it is reliable? Also, based on past releases like this, if June 2022 is the "go live" date, will sales likely also start that same day, or will they have sales (or preorders) available ahead of time?

I'm so excited that it looks like this will be available for our July 2022 trip! I had my family all picking out general color and design interests to I can get our order in right away in case they go live unexpectedly!
I don't see how June 2022 equals "later this year" that Disney referred to. I've seen nothing official just talk. I know folks are inferring since they had some in stock must be ready but reality is that Disney gets things way in advance of rollouts especially something was predicted to roll out months ago but software etc is holding it up. I would not hold my breath on this one and just be ready for the official announce/ordering.

The wands are full blown games though, more like the old card game. This doesn’t really seem equal to that, unless there is much more to it I haven’t seen. Now if you could discover things like the old card spots and activate them and then have it link to your mde and show special effects and info while keeping track of what you had discovered, then I would def be on board for the kids.
Wands are full blown games? Old card game? Since when?

They activate "stuff" like the statues, light up during fireworks....I don't really see that being enough for me to worry with them at this point because you have to worry with keeping it charged.

I think of these like the wands at Universal. The plain versus the fancy ones that activate window displays, etc. If you hang out by it long enough someone with a fancy one will come by and you get the full benefit of it.
They seem like the wands to me too. Though I don't agree with just watching someone else do it. The fun is trying the spell. Watching someone else do the spell is not the same. Matter of fact, it's not fun at all.

Wands are full blown games? Old card game? Since when?
I mean obviously they were not settlers of Catan. The old card game was at WDW and was called sorcerers of magic. Haven’t seen anything that suggest the new band will be anything comparable.

I'm aware of the old card game at WDW. You said the wands were a full blown game. What game are the wands at Universal?

Fab 50 Scavenger Hunt, Batuu Bounty Hunter Games Launching with MagicBand+ This Summer

After a guest enters a theme park, MagicBand+ will come alive at various times with color-changing lights, haptic vibrations and gesture recognition, enhancing the environment’s storytelling. The wearable will allow guests to engage with favorite Disney moments in new ways and discover new interactive experiences, including:

  • In the “Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters”experience, guests can join the Batuu Bounty Hunters’ Guild in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Using their MagicBand+ to find numerous virtual bounties hidden throughout Black Spire Outpost, guests will follow the band’s light patterns and haptics to complete their mission. Then they will return to the local guild master, who will reward them with galactic credits. Guests can also use the Play Disney Parks mobile app to help them reveal their virtual bounty using the app’s built-in augmented reality thermal viewer.
  • Guests can experience nighttime spectaculars in a new way as they see their bands light up and complement the magic in the skies, including the new “Harmonious”at EPCOT and “Disney Enchantment” at Magic Kingdom Park.

I'm aware of the old card game at WDW. You said the wands were a full blown game. What game are the wands at Universal?
You have to learn the spells—you don’t just point and it does something. Each spell has its own unique movement pattern

I noticed the Magic Band 2 online inventory has increased in the last couple of days and the prices have dropped to about $20. This seems like a clean out the inventory move before releasing the new bands. We are scheduled to arrive for our trip June 11th. Currently holding out and hoping to get the new ones before we go, or be able to purchase at the World of Disney upon arrival.

Summer is pretty darn close. I wonder why they're avoiding a specific launch date - perhaps still working out bugs?
