Has anyone used Magicalley.com for help in planning their trip? I know I have seen Tourguide Mike mentioned but not Magicalley. Has anyone used both for comparision? Any input would be appreciated. I figured I would try one instead of buying a book for this trip and now I can't decide.

Thanks

From what I can tell from visiting that site, it looks just like THIS site except that you have to pay $39 to join???? Is there more there that I am missing?

I have learned all I need to know and more from the DIS! I see no reason to visit a message board where I have to pay?

Maybe there is more there that I am just not seeing????

I cannot imagine having to pay $$ for planning, there are plenty of good services out there who will do all of that for no charge!

and, if you hang around the boards long enough, you might start to enjoy planning your itinerary yourself! you'll sure learn alot!

have fun! :)

I checked out this site because there was a post on the restaurant board about them being able to get a PS for Cinderella's Breakfast, and it got me curious as to how they planned to make Cinderella's Breakfast PSs for their members, since a credit card is now required to make a deposit. This site bugs me. There's this whole paragraph called "Disney website dangers" that says you should sign up for this site and pay the fee because on other Disney sites you can be "terrorized" by "emotionally disturbed individuals" who "just like real-world terrorists....can steal your private commentary and intentionally misconstrue it into a sickening display of character assassination..." (huh?) and can use your vacation info to launch some kind of criminal attack.

Obviously it is common sense not to post very personal information on public boards, and I don't see much of that going on here. And the nature of the internet is such that a certain amount of caution is recommended. But in all the years I've been messing around on Disney sites, I can't remember "terrorization" being a problem, for myself or for anyone I've met through the Internet community of Disney fans. And using this kind of language to persuade people to pay a fee is bothersome. Can't emotionally disturbed individuals pay a fee, too?

You can still get a PS at Cindy's without a CC. When you book, you'll have a week or two to send the deposit in by check.

I believe this new site is the old readers clubhouse.

If you do a search, I'm sure you'll some old threads about this.

The Magic Alley site charges by the MONTH. To me, this is crazy. The site owner is Rita Aero. In the past, she has written a few guidebooks, which were ok, but not as good as many of the other books I have seen. IMHO Anyway, if you read the newsgroup rec.arts.disney.parks you will see that there are many there that have a problem with Ms. Aero. There was a huge mess last year over her group's desire to try to gain as many CRT reservations as possible to dole out to people that were friendly towards them and wanted to go. Let's just say, it got nasty. So, Ms. Aero has started charging for access to her message boards. I will be honest, I have read them for free and never found anything that really helped in my planning. Not to say you you might not find their boards helpful, but I just didn't gain anything from it. TGM would be a better source of planning info for a fee if you are bent on paying for planning advice. IMHO Mickey

Mickeysaver is right. There was a lot of hoopla on the rec.arts.disney.parks newsgroup due to some of their practices-mainly hogging CRT seatings  and then giving them out to others. I believe that was the main reason Disney had to start taking deposits because of their practices. There are many free sites like disboards.com (along with many others) that offer lots of great information without a monthly charge.

thank you all so much. I did not realize that there was a monthly charge on top of the 39$.. Totally not worth the money. this boards along with wdwig.com seem to be all i need.

thanks again

Look around you. You already are at one of the best Disney planning sites. Between this and Deb Will's board wdwig.com, why else would you need anything else?

Passporter and Mousesavers are good, too. You are already a member here, and 100 times the money has been saved here than has been at the site that you mention. I say stay here, and give Pete your business. He will treat you right.

Why pay anything for a Disney site when the actual Offical WDW site is free!

The DIS is one of the best planning sites out there. Pete and the other Webmasters and Mods do a great job here.

It would appear to me that Ms. Aero is trying to make money.

It's been my experience that much new or pertinent info posted on MA is lifted/copied from here or many of the other informative and free Disney sites out there. So why pay for it?

Plus, I can't see throwing any support behind a site that actually has a section called "Leper Colonies" under its business page. That is just plain old offensive (but not atypical of what goes on there).

Also, they want too much personal info for my comfort level. Kind of ironic in a sense.
