back from a quick trip to the World last week and wanted to post about our transportation experiences.
1. Flew out of BDL (Hartford CT) on Sat. 9/26 on Delta with $69 fares. When I checked DD & I in the day before, I got an "overbooked flight" message asking anyone with flexible travel plans to tell the Gate agent. Flexible?!?!? NOOO
!! The trip was already too short. So we hid in a corner in the waiting area with our heads down, no eye contact. Thought we had made it through when I handed my boarding pass to the agent and bolted for the ramp - Ma'am, oh Ma'am, please wait - damn, they caught us. So I reluctantly turn around and - SHE HANDS US NEW SEAT ASSIGNMENTS, UPGRADED TO FIRST CLASS BABY!!
Pillows, blankets, water, hot, moist towels to refresh ourselves, breakfast, MIMOSAS. I could get used to this. And, for the first time, we're off the plane first! Also landed 20 minutes early.
2. DME - wow had never seen it this crowded but have never arrived on a Saturday morning either. We didn't have to go to the counter, in fact, almost no one was directed to the counter. Waited about 20 minutes but the bus left immediately. Last year, no lines but we waited almost 40 minutes for the bus to fill. I preferred the crowded way. CM told me they were expecting 12,000 that day!
3. WDW transportation @ Pop - DD hates waiting for WDW busses. Always seems every bus but the one we want shows up. Not this time. I think our longest wait was 15 minutes and that was from Epcot back to POP at 1PM on our last day. Our average wait was less than 10 minutes. Always had a seat to the parks, mostly stood on the way back. This was usually our choice although we could have waited a few minutes more for the next bus (they pulled up practically one right after the other, often 2 at a time). We don't mind standing.
4. Used EBCI on SWA for the trip home (Wed 9/30). Boarding passes (A17-18) hanging on our door on our last day. Checked our bags at RAC & visited F &WF for a few hrs (I LOVE RAC). Picked up @ 2:15 for our 5:15 flight. Ate the lunch we brought from the resort, 5 minutes to clear Security & hung out at the gate. Flight was delayed about 40 minutes for some problem. Uneventful flight with very nice staff, spoiled by First Class though! Landed only 10 minutes late.
Really a very good trip as far as transportation was concerned.
