We just returned last night and truth be told the stroller is not in such great shape. We ended up taking it to the next swappers resort a couple days early just to not have to mess with it. The tear is quite a bit worse but I don't think that really hurts it much as long as kids as careful getting in and out etc. If someone can get a good repair get like everyone is talking about I think that part will be fine. We ended up not having a rental car as planned or we would have taken the stroller for some repairs. Here are our suggestions (mostly from my husband who is crazy handy and can fix anything but had the most issues with this stroller)
1. Take it somewhere to air up the tires or bring some sort of bike pump. Someone at Ft. Wilderness helped us with this but the tires are not holding air like they should although we couldn't find an obvious leak by putting water on the tires and looking for bubbles. (We did this at a beautiful fountain in France at Epcot and got some strange looks.) The tires make it harder to push when they are low on air.
2. Bring some WD-40. The sun shade has come off and when clipped back on will no longer pivot. It was HOT and we needed the sunshade but it kept falling off no matter what we did. We even stopped someone who had the same brand of stroller to see if it was operator error but they told us something wasn't right with the sunshade and the pivot things.
3. Be warned of the zip ties that have been put on the padded handle. Both myself and my son were cut by the sharp plastic ends of the ties. I have no idea why these are on there.
4. Bring a small tool kit as things are loose and the whole thing could use some tightening up. We did the best we could with borrowed tools from our resort but it could use a good going over.
I don't want to be a downer on this stroller. If you are signed up for it for the next couple months I think it will be fine with some repairs and some lowering of expectations. This is out third stroller swap and while the other two we did rated a 9 and 10 this stroller is about a 4 or 5. I don't know if baggage claim has tossed this about a bit much or what but this stroller has been through the ringer. The foam around the handle is ripped, the seat is ripped and slightly stained, the sunshade needs repaired, it was musty when we first got it like it had been wet, the platform over the front wheel is scratched up.... etc etc. If your only concern is getting kids from point a to point b then I think it is fine. I really appreciate the work that has been put into this swap and and additions people have left with the stroller. We used it at the Halloween party where it really helped out. It saved us quite a bit of money. BUT... I want to tell people my honest opinion about it which I hope doesn't make anyone mad. We are signed up for it again in December but I think we'll pass on it. If you have any questions please let me know...
Thanks,
Jodi
