Magical Mouse Double Stroller Swap.....CLOSED!!!

Hey everyone! Just got back from Disney and the stroller was great! Dropped it off for the next user. Just wanted to let whoever know that it has a small tear in the bottom of one of the seats. Like the seam's popped a little bit. So if anyone that's going had a small sewing kit they could probably sew it back up...it's a very small tear along the seam. I would have but didn't have any of that handy. Other than that it was great!!

Glad to hear you had a great time! Julieduyos contacted me about the tear in the seat. She has offered to try and fix it to the best of her ability.:thumbsup2

We are back from our vacation. The stroller was great and I am very happy that we had it. It was very easy to get around with. It did fit through the Magic Kingdom gates for us, but was a tight squeeze. The tear in the seat is definently going to need to tender loving care. I did bring a small sewing kit with and did mend it right before we used it. The mending job did not hold up all week. My kids were very careful getting in and out of it. It did began to tear again. I think that it will need some sort of reinforcement patch work. The tears are coming from the seam that runs right down the middle of the stroller. There is a lot of pressure on that part of the stroller from where the kids are sitting and climbing in and out of the stroller. I hope that someone is able to fix it. I did take some pictures of it...I just don't have time to post them now. Thanks so much to mommy2prettyprincess for doing this swap. When I saw all of the rented strollers I was thankful that I was able to save that money!:goodvibes

hello!

If you could post the photos of the tear soon, I'd appreciate it. I'll be sure to bring some appropriate repair items and take care of it once I get the stroller (as I'm NEXT after the current user ). Thanks!

I can't figure out how to post pictures...Corner Monster I sent you a PM to get you email address. I can send them that way to you. If anyone knows how to post pictures let me know.

I figured it out! This is the best picture that I took I think. The next thread has two more pics. You can see where I mended it. It is about 3 inches long, but it was starting to tear again. Also on the other side there is another tear that is starting. I couldn't get pictures from underneath but there is tearing there also. I think the best thing would be some sort of re-enforcement of some sort like I had said before. Continuing to mend it would only make it worse. Good Luck everyone.

Do we think it's worthwhile to contact the instep customer service department to see if they offer a repair kit or replacement part? It seems like it shouldn't rip this early on in it's use - even if we are using it a lot.

I am in need of a double stroller for 12/4/2010- 12/14/2010. I am trying to get on before all the date are taken. We will be at POP. What do I need to do next? I am new to this. LOL!

I did a quick google search for Nylon repair kit. It seems like they carry them for camping goods (tents, backpacks etc...) Do you think those would work? I can order one and have it delivered to someone's resort.

Thanks,
Heather

I think the repair kit may work, Heather. If you want to ship it to BLT, I arrive there on the 13th of this month and the reservation is under Jennifer Brennan. Let me know. Thanks!

I found one from REI that includes both a nylon patch (kind of ugly green though), nylon thread and a tube of seam seal to keep the seams from continuing to fray and split. You will probably need some good cutting scissors (better than the cuticle ones I end up with when I travel.)

But what is the shipping address for BLT?

Thanks,
Heather

I would ship it to the contemporary: 4600 N. World Drive, Lake Buena Vista, 32830. Is it possible for it to get there before sunday though?

No, it doesn't look like it. How long will you be at BLT? It looks like it would arrive Wed 9/16.

We just returned last night and truth be told the stroller is not in such great shape. We ended up taking it to the next swappers resort a couple days early just to not have to mess with it. The tear is quite a bit worse but I don't think that really hurts it much as long as kids as careful getting in and out etc. If someone can get a good repair get like everyone is talking about I think that part will be fine. We ended up not having a rental car as planned or we would have taken the stroller for some repairs. Here are our suggestions (mostly from my husband who is crazy handy and can fix anything but had the most issues with this stroller)
1. Take it somewhere to air up the tires or bring some sort of bike pump. Someone at Ft. Wilderness helped us with this but the tires are not holding air like they should although we couldn't find an obvious leak by putting water on the tires and looking for bubbles. (We did this at a beautiful fountain in France at Epcot and got some strange looks.) The tires make it harder to push when they are low on air.
2. Bring some WD-40. The sun shade has come off and when clipped back on will no longer pivot. It was HOT and we needed the sunshade but it kept falling off no matter what we did. We even stopped someone who had the same brand of stroller to see if it was operator error but they told us something wasn't right with the sunshade and the pivot things.
3. Be warned of the zip ties that have been put on the padded handle. Both myself and my son were cut by the sharp plastic ends of the ties. I have no idea why these are on there.
4. Bring a small tool kit as things are loose and the whole thing could use some tightening up. We did the best we could with borrowed tools from our resort but it could use a good going over.

I don't want to be a downer on this stroller. If you are signed up for it for the next couple months I think it will be fine with some repairs and some lowering of expectations. This is out third stroller swap and while the other two we did rated a 9 and 10 this stroller is about a 4 or 5. I don't know if baggage claim has tossed this about a bit much or what but this stroller has been through the ringer. The foam around the handle is ripped, the seat is ripped and slightly stained, the sunshade needs repaired, it was musty when we first got it like it had been wet, the platform over the front wheel is scratched up.... etc etc. If your only concern is getting kids from point a to point b then I think it is fine. I really appreciate the work that has been put into this swap and and additions people have left with the stroller. We used it at the Halloween party where it really helped out. It saved us quite a bit of money. BUT... I want to tell people my honest opinion about it which I hope doesn't make anyone mad. We are signed up for it again in December but I think we'll pass on it. If you have any questions please let me know...
Thanks,
Jodi
