Magical Gatherings - Perks?

I was wondering if anyone can explain the perks to the Grand Gatherings. My family is planning a trip in October and there are 8 of us going this time.

Looking for some insight from others.

Haven't used Grand Gatherings yet, but here's what I know from planning our upcoming trip for 12. We are using Grand Gatherings because it gives us access to some events that you can do ONLY if you are a grand gatherings participant. Other than that, I don't think there are any super great "perks". I know you can do the on-line planning etc. but I've heard that there have been some technical probs with it. So, the main reason we're doing it is to get to do some things we've not experienced before.
