Magical Express

Has anybody used the DVC benefit "Magical Express"? How did it work out for you?
We signed up for our August vacation and have not recieved any tags yet...

We used it in June and it was fine. The line was long at the airport, but they are organized and it moves quickly. The issue is more with the people in line who aren't ready, didn't know what to do, etc.

Our luggage didn't get there within the 3 hour window. I spoke with bell services, and they said that it has been so popular that it is taking longer than they expected. Just prepare for that.

Pack clothes in your carryon and head off to the pool or parks when you check in. It was so nice not worrying about luggage, we just checked in with ME at the airport, boarded the bus, and arrived at SSR. Our luggage showed up sometime in the evening while we were enjoying Magical Kingdom. It was in our room when we got back.

FYI we also used gardengrocers.com and it was wonderful.

You mentioned that you signed up for your August vacation...did you book ME too?? Did you book it through Member Services?? We called MS about three weeks ago and had our tags within two weeks.

The line is long, but it moves fast. Your bus will more than likely stop at more than one resort. We were staying at SSR and we stopped at OKW and CBR before SSR, but the trip was great!

I'm told we can book it for this October but, can't add DP or ME to DS's trip on points in early Jan.

Wonder if they're planning on starting to "charge" for his so-far free perc...after the 50 year celebration is over?

No, there was an Orlando Sentinel article stating it would be free into 2008, or maybe 2012....I don't remember, but it was for quite a while into the future. For some reason, 6 years sticks in my head....which would be 2012.

I can't search to link to it because the board search feature hates me. But I think it was on the Transportation board, and may have been on the DIS news on the main page....sometime in April or May, I think???

They try to get the DME information to you about 3 weeks prior to your arrival date. If it hasn't arrived by 2 weeks prior, I'd call MS again and give them a nudge.

I believe you can book ME as soon as you have your flight information. If your flight # changes you let them know.

I checked w/MS Friday, they said they were unable to book past end of year.

Used it 4 times now also using it in Oct and DEC. Wait and see next year if they charge or now. If they do charge depends on how much, I'll go back to the town car if it is to much.

I thought you couldn't book ME without flight info? Anyway . . .

I LOVE this service! My luggage was in my BWV within 1/2 hour of checking in. I think not having to lug the luggage is magical in itself. I wish all airlines were part of the check in service on the way home though. One year we used Continental and were able to check in our luggage at BWV and didn't need to think about it until we were at our home airport. If you don't use one of their airlines, you will have to get your luggage on and off the bus (with the help of your driver) and check it in at MCO yourself.

I will going in early January and called to add ME and was also told by MS that it couldn't be added yet.

We used it last August and again this year for Presidents' weekend. Both times we found it to be efficient and well organized. On our August trip, we checked in at about 10:30 and then went to Epcot until our room was ready at about 3. Our luggage was in our rooms when we got there. In February, we were arriving at about 11:30p.m., so we only brought carryon luggage. We will be using ME again next month and I definitely recommend it. I believe that the luggage tags came about 2 weeks before our trip - I think they wait to make sure there are not changes to your flight.
