Magical Express??

We have reserved ME for our trip next week but we have found a great rate through Dollar on a mini-van ($169.99/wk). So here is my question, if we decide to go with the rental what do we do about our ME "reservation"? Do we need to let Disney know?

I have just called Disney and cancelled my DME in the past. I guess you really don't have to, but I feel better doing that.

If it were me, I would call Disney back and tell them that you will no longer need to use Magical Express. So they can take your name/names off of the list and be able to put someone else in your spot if they needed too.

The only real reason for a DME reservstion is so that everyone in your party is issued a bus pass with a bar code on it and 2 DME luggage tags each. Until the bus pass is scanned at the DME desk, and the bus driver as you load onto your bus' it is not active. The luggage does not get picked up by DME until your pass gets scanned by the bus driver. So you don't really need to cancel. If you go with the minivan be sure to pickup your luggage as DME will not touch them even if you have DME tags on them because the DME computer will not show you as arrived and on your way to the resort.

Letting Disney know would be a nice courtesy on your part, but if you don't cancel the DME reservation (for some reason) you won't be affected in any way.
