We're going to WDW in the middle of October, and have never used DME. Do the buses run frequently between MCO and resorts? I heard the buses run about every 30 minutes, is this accurate?

We don't have our flights finalized yet, but we're looking at flying into MCO on a Sunday at 9:15am and staying at POFQ. Any idea whether we'd hit long lines for a DME bus? How long would it take to get to POFQ?

Please share your experiences with me! :thumbsup2

THere really is no difference in times of year when talking about DME. It's pretty much the same all the time. The variables tend to be time of day. So...with that in mind..if you land, ontime, at 9:15am, that means you'll get off the plane by about 9:30. That puts you arriving at POFQ at about 10:45ish. The average is running about 75-80 mins from gate to resort.

I've used DME at all times of year, at all times of day. I have hit longish lines the day that the majority of PopWarner families were arriving. Oh man...the line to check in was back almost to the car rental counter area!!! But, even then, we were in line for about 20 mins. Now??? If you have your vouchers in hand, and there are no changes to be made, you will most likely be waved on to the bus lines. There, your vouchers will be scanned and you will be directed to the appropriate bus line. If your resort bus has just left, you may have a wait of up to 20 or so mins. But, that's only happened to me one time. I usually wait in the line for about 10 mins...then, get on the bus, where the wait is about 10 mins total. Then the 25 min ride to the first resort.
In the past, when staying at BWV, we have stopped at POFQ and POR first. But, that isn't etched in stone. The routes can be changed daily.

Agree with G4T. DME is no better or worse in October than any other time of year. Disney has gotten this pretty well figured out and they plan for enough busses to meet the expected load no matter what day of the year or time of day.

goofy4tink: Thanks for explaining the ropes of using DME...that gives me a visual of what to expect. Good to know that it doesn't vary month to month. I wasn't sure if maybe higher crowds were expected because of MNSSHP & F&W Festival...

My DH and I are notorious for showing up at the bus stops as the buses are pulling away! Especially when trying to catch a DTD bus from a Disney resort...ugh! So I wouldn't be surprised if this happened with DME.

75-80(ish) minutes doesn't sound too bad. Ok, I'll see if I can revise my thread title to draw more people in than just October travelers!

Thanks again,
