Our flight arrives at MCO at 9:36pm. I know our luggage will be transported to our resort as long as we arrive before 10:00pm. What happens though if our flight is delayed and gets in after 10:00pm? Are we to assume the bags will be sent to the luggage carousel for us to pick up?
Thanks!

Ten o'clock is the witching hour. If your flight actually arrives after that then you should expect all bags, yellow tagged and all, to go to the carousels for your pickup.

So, they no longer transport bags anymore after 10pm? I thought they did, but held delivering to your room until the next morning? I'd double check with ME on that one, as I thought that all yellow tagged bags were pulled prior to the carousels regardless of time, it was just that all arrivals after 10pm, the bags were held until the next morning for delivery, as to not disturb the guests since there were complaints of bags being delivered after midnight.

Well that's interesting, I had never heard that! I guess I should look in to it before I go. Thank you!

No, if you arrive after 10pm there is no luggage delivery at all. We were in that situation on our last trip and we had to collect our own luggage.

I cannot find the details on the actual WDW site, but here is info from All Ears -

Effective March 30, 2009, Disney's Magical Express will no longer offer luggage delivery service for arrivals to the Orlando International Airport after 10 p.m. Guests arriving at the airport after 10 p.m. will pick up their luggage at the baggage claim and take it with them to the Magical Express motor coach to their resort.

So things have changed....

The bags are not put aside...there is no one there from DME to do this. They go off duty at 10pm! So, even if you tag your bags with the yellow DME tags, they will still go out to the public baggage carousels. If no one picks them up there, they will be put in the unclaimed luggage office. The next morning, someone from DME goes to these offices and grabs the tagged bags and then the bags get delivered to the resort.

No, it has been that way since the beginning of ME.
When DME first started, they took luggage that arrived late, after 10pm. But when they found there just wasn't that much call for it (few arriving guests between 10pm and 5am!!), they stopped doing luggage delivery between 10pm and 5am. It didn't take them too long to figure it out!!!!

I do wonder, however, if they would stay a bit longer if a flight slated to get in beforehand has been delayed. Surely they KNOW. So I do wonder.

I wouldn't think so. Say there was a flight that was delayed and is scheduled to land at 10:05pm. Should they stay to handle the bags? What about another delayed flight coming in at 10:10pm, then another at 10:20pm? Where would they draw the line? It also comes down to paying the DME baggage personnel after 10pm. Probably not going to happen. JMHO.

Frankly, coming in that late, I'd not use the yellow tags and pickup your bags from baggage claim yourself and take them to DME. Even if you're on time, it could still be awhile after you arrive at your resort for DME to deliver them. That late at night, I wouldn't want to wait.

FWIW, you can tell Bell Services to hold your bags until the next morning. You would have to take the stuff you need for the night in your carry-on though.

Actually, that is incorrect! When ME first started they picked up your luggage no matter what time you arrived and they would deliver it to your room at any time unless you asked them to hold it! :goodvibes
We had a very late night flight... and arrived at POP just slightly before midnight. Our blessing was that we got there before the food court closed so we were able to grab a snack and drink before heading to our room! :worship: POP was the first drop off and actually the bus didn't sit around waiting to fill up either. We were loaded up and sent on our way pretty quickly. Our luggage arrived pretty fast!! :thumbsup2 I was too wound up to go to sleep right away so I told them to go ahead and deliver it when it arrived. so it showed up to our room around 1am. I was able to get stuff unpacked and put away and then went to bed. :cool1:

bolding is mine...
Exactly!! This is the way it started out when ME first started!! :thumbsup2

There has to be a "standard" procedure and the current procedure of going to the carousels yourself after 10 PM is easy to follow. All guests need is a clock. If exceptions were made then there would ahve to be conspicuous notification such as Mickey or another character meeting each affected plane and pointing with his white glove or holding up a sign. The taxi services and other competitors to Magical Express don't like that.

Nope. As someone already said, where would they draw the line? They stop work at 10pm. I wouldn't tag my bags if I was due to arrive any time after 6:30pm. I just don't want to be waiting until midnight for my bags to arrive.

Yes, I was mistaken and was probably thinking of something else. CRS hit again.

Yep, you are correct and I was totally wrong. I do apologize. Probably thinking of something else. Have a great day. :)

Or you could have baggage services at the resort hold the bags until you call for them the next morning. ;)

I could, but I hate waiting for my bags to get there. I want to get settled in before bed.
