Magical Express Problem

I booked a trip to SSR for a friend of mine and only his name was on the 1 bdrm reservation. When i booked ME for them i gave all three of thier names but when they pulled the reservation only his name was on it so they only sent ME reservations for him. Will ME allow his wife and daughter to ride to the resort from the airport with him? He will add them to the reservation once they arrive at SSR. I have tried and cannot add them now because the trip was booked through RCI. I really hope that this does not cause a problem for them. They are arriving tomorrow and he only told me yesterday that his ME documents were incomplete.
 
Only people ON the reservation are eligible for DME (it is one of the warnings that we give people when they plan on adding someone at check in).

I am not familiar with RCI, so I don't know why you cannot add them, but I would call and try. Otherwise, they can take MEARS - this can be arranged at the airport (not sure how much a one-way fare is) and may actually end up on the same bus.
 
I did call ME last night and they said that they will be able to ride ME but i wanted to see if anyone had actually been through this senario. ut you will get several different answers depending on how many times you call. RCI said they would have to cancel the reservation and rebook but they might lose the room so i told them not to do that. I would hope that ME could add thier names to the list so they could ride.

When RCI confirmed the exchange or reservation, RCI provided a toll-free phone number for DVC. Although RCI cannot add names to the reservation, DVC will do so, up to the maximum capacity of the villa (room).

Only people on the reservation are eligible to reserve DME, and only people with advance DME reservations are allowed to use DME.

Whatever you do, don't let RCI cancel and rebook. This is not an RCI issue, and RCI can't do anything to help you.
 

You and your friend need to get together (using conference call or telephone tag) and either of you get your name on the room reservation right away. The last suggestion above was to do it through Disney Vacation Club.

It would be a good idea to write down the name and city of anyone you talk to on the phone, when booking or ordering or buying anything, anywhere, any time. In the case of Magical Express contacted via its hot line number 866-599-0951 or Disney Vacation Club contacted via its number, since there is no guaranteed written confirmation system, that name and city scrawled on the back of an envelope should get you on DME when you show up at the counter and are already on a Disney's resort room reservation. (The CM behind the welcoming area counter may or may not print your vouchers and send you to the DME bus line without inquiring far enough to suggest to you that you show him that information.)
 
UPDATE:

I finally talked to someone at the RCI for Disney number who knew what they were doing. They added the names to the reservation and made sure that those names transferred to ME. No problems at all for my friend. As is true with Disney: If you don't get someone who can do what you need just call back until you do....
