Magical Express or Car Service?

We are arriving at 6:15 pm in the evening and want to get to our resort with our luggage as soon as possible. I looked into FL tours and it is cheaper if you book roundtrip rather than one way. So, my question is if you have done both - was it worth the $ to take a car service?

No one who takes DME will tell you it was worth the money to take a car service. That is a question you have to ask yourself. You want a fast efficient ride with your family to Disney World than car service is your deal. If you want to mingle with a lot of kids and families than the free DME is good also. Both modes are reliable and well spoke of out of the Orlando Airport.

I am not a fan of "public transport" so I was prepared to really dislike ME. I did finally take it on my last trip and am now planning to take it on my next. I was really amazed at how much more relaxing it was and how much I enjoyed it.

I have used car services in the past (and use them often in other cities for business). In Orlando I normally rent a car since you can usually find some good rates and I have read way to many car service horror stories to deal with them anymore. (I have used them in Orlando in the past and don't have personal horror stories there) However, I liked my first ME experience much better then either a car service or renting a car. I never thought I would take ME over a rental car but I am!

If you want to pay, But remember ME is free.

It basically comes down to what kind of experience you are looking for. There are times I want that 'special, it's all about me' experience...then I use a towncar service. Sometimes, I would prefer to keep my money and put it towards something else. I don't stop for groceries, so that's a non-issue for me. If I need something, I'll have it brought in by a grocery delivery service for a $15 fee. I don't want to waste my time in the mini-mart, or the grocery store.
I have used DME 4 times now. I've used towncars 6 times. I love them both. It just depends on how I feel like arriving. I have found that the towncar doesn't get me to the resort all that much more quickly than DME...perhaps 10-15 minutes or so. BUT, if I don't want to deal with bouncy, trouncy kids on the bus, or risk being the third of three resorts stops, or having to wait for my luggage, then I can book a towncar.
Used DME two weeks ago...will be using a towncar in 3 weeks. Both work for me....depending on what I need for that particular trip.

Thanks for your responses. I think we will try ME going to the hotel - will bring along a carryon with what we will need in the evening. I can always book a towncar for the return trip.

I would personally never forego DME for a car service but that is me. I like having the extra cash to spend. I have a car for the next trip, but that trip is short and time-sensitive.

In that situation I would rent a car from Alamo or National for the night and return it at the Dolphin or Car Care Center the next day.

Not sure why you need a towncar for the return trip only unless you have something scheduled at WDW on your last day.
