I have used magical express but it has been several years ago and as I was reading and refreshing my memory on how it works I read something about only one checked bag being allowed?

We are flying on Southwest (1st time ever!) where I can check 2 bags free and since we are staying 12 nights I may need both of those checked bags.

Wondering if maybe I've just read something wrong about only allowing one checked bag on Magical Express.
Thanks!

There is no set limit for Magical Express. You can call DME (toll free 866-599-0951) and ask for more yellow tags if needed.

They send you one yellow tag per person because on average, guests don't have more than one checked bag per person, and more tags result in more wasted paper.

If you need addtl DME luggage tags, just call DME and they will send addtl tags out to you. Just do this in advance. They need at least 10 days to get new stuff printed and out to you.

In the event that you do not get the extra yellow tags you can also just give your luggage claim tickets to DME staff and they will claim them for you.

I only got the 1 ME yellow tag and told my TA I'd need another (we leave in 14 days). She called ME and was told they will only take 1 bag per person and I'd either need to claim my 2nd bag or just use carry ons. The Carry on thing is not an option and having to claim a bag defeats the purpose of using ME. Has anyone had any experience with using just your airline claim ticket for an extra bag at the ME stand? I don't want to loose a bag but I don't really want to deal with it either!

Your TA is absolutely incorrect. I have many times had more than one bag and not had yellow tags and it has not been a problem. I just give my claim tickets to the ME desk and they take care of it. It's ideal if you have the yellow tickets to put on but it is certainly manageable to do without.

You need to have your TA call again. Have her call DME directly at 866-599-0951. They will absolutely send you more tags.

I'm guessing that she either called the main wdw number and got incorrect information (which isn't uncommon) or she didn't even call. The chances of her getting that information from someone from DME are very slim - they tend to know what they're talking about and this is pretty basic information.

Thanks so much! I was really worried about having to deal with that extra bag! It's not going to have too much in in just some snacks and such (it's really a place to bring back everything I buy)!

Dear God...why do TAs insist on giving out bad info??? I can't imagine DME giving out that info. My concern with having your TA call back and ask again to have addtl tags sent is that she may just say that she was told no.
If that happens, just go to DME checkin, the counter area, and give them your baggage claim receipt and a description of your bag..they will send someone to baggage claim to get it for you and deliver it to your resort with your already tagged bags.

I can say people do misconstrue information from a TA sometimes too. But in that case, it sounded like the TA gave out totally wrong information.

I eat out quite often and sit at the bar. I set down my keys with my disney keychain. The Owner happened to see it and commented that was a place they would never visit again.

She was told their bags would be delivered by 3 pm when using ME. She said they arrived at 2:30 pm and by 3:15 pm, still no bags. They went down to the front desk (at the GF) and made a scene. They were told it was three hours, not 3 pm. Why were they in such an uproar???? Her anti-seizure medication was in her checked bags. Needless to say, they chased down her bags, but it was not easy for me to explain where she went wrong.....

We will also have more than one checked bag per person and I just called DME directly and I got my extras in just a few days. I liked the fact that they sent an entire extra group of them (1 more each for everyone in our party) since I'm not sure how many extra bags we will have. I know we won't use all of the extras, but its nice to have them just in case!

I'm going to go out on a ledge a little ways and share my thought.....this is one reason I don't like to use a TA. Many of them really don't know their way around WDW. They make assumptions. They give out what they 'believe' to be good info. Or, worst case scenario??? They tell you something to appease you.
Add to this the fact that it isn't your reservation until you are standing at the checkin area, at your resort??? Way too much room for mistakes to happen.
If you get a TA that isn't up to speed regarding Disney policy, you may have issues. And the whole DME thing??? Many TAs tell you that you have to settle for the one tag pp...they don't want to bother calling DME to order you addtl tags. And then have to get the addtl tags to you!! Since the TA 'owns' the reservation, they have to do the addtl work here...and a lot of them don't want to.

You've already been told many times and your TA is SO off base here it is shamefull.

Just use common sense. What is the norm when flying business or first class? Yep, depending on who you fly and which itinerary the norm is 2 or 3 free checked bags. It would be beyond weird if DME would cap guests off at 1 suitcase and beyond that make it more of a hassle, seriously risking loosing guests that use DME for this part of the package.

I'm one of those international guests that do longer trips. My upcoming trip is 25 days. Only need about half a suitcase for the standard bagage stuff like clothes etc. However, there are some health issues. The end result? Hoping to keep it down to 4 fullsized suitcases and 2 carry ons after all the medical stuff kicks in, a powerchair and a manual wheelchair. Trips before can be described in many ways but travelling light when it comes to baggage is not one of them. ;) No blink from whomever involved, including DME.

I'ld say; have the TA get more tags for you as it is still the easiest way for you. A tagless bag does take longer for them to track down (can be done if you hand them the stubs) which can be a pain depending on you way of travelling, time of arrival etc. And when using the tag already for suitcase 1 it would be a bit weird IMHO to carry along suitcase 2 yourself. In that case you would've want to carry along suitcase 1 also and not use the tags to begin with.

You know the right info now, so in case TA would try to give you any other story; stick to it. It is part of the services a TA should supply you with. Lack of knowledge is no excuse, even more so when you HAVE that knowledge. ;)
