Previous trips, both DVC and non, I had recieved enough luggage tags for 2 bags per person traveling. This time around for my upcoming December trip I got 1 tag per person traveling.

I'll admit I've been lax at keeping up on current DIS threads, but when did this change go into effect and can I appeal for more tags?

-We will be at BWV Nov 25-Dec5....it's our first trip in on ME and I was made aware of the policy here. I called to inquire and the CM was less than helpful. She stated that it was now the policy and they could not request additional tags.

I then called ME directly (1-866-599-0951). They were wonderful....extra tags on the way. Good luck.

Do you need tags for carry-ons as well, or just checked luggage? We've never used ME, we've only rented cars until now. ;)

Just for your checked bags, so the ME people can find your bags at the carousel and magically bring them to your room

I'm heading down November 29th to December 5th, 38 days!!!

The change was Disney's way of reducing the number of bags that have to be processed. With only one tag mailed per person, Guests have reduced how much stuff they pack. Very few take the time to call DME for extra tags and of course Disney doesn't offer the extras.

I just got all our tags for our trip next month and was surprised to see that I got 2 tags per person. Maybe DVC is different? This was the case for all 3 studios we have booked. There were 2 tags per person.

We are DVC and are here now...we only got 1 tag per person and it was too late to get more so I copied the tags and put then on the 2 additional bag....they were not too happy about that...when we got to ME to check in we gave them the luggage claim tags and they grumbled....said now airlines only let you bring 1 bag now?????? we said no Southwest lets you have 2 bags free. Maybe hopefully they got alot of flack about the 1 tag per person. All they have to do is ask how many you need....is that so hard? :goodvibes

When the vast majority of airlines started charging for checked bags, Disney figured that most people would check just the one bag. So, in order to save some money, they started sending out just one luggage tag per person.
I just got mine yesterday...one per person, for our DVC stay.
If anyone thinks they got two...doublecheck. You should have two long yellow strips. It looks like you can split each one of those in two but that's not the way it works.

You do not need to tag your carryon bags. Bags with the yellow tags get pulled long before they get to the baggage claim area...they are grabbed as they come off the planes and put into a DME luggage area/pile, then sorted into resort areas, then resorted into actual resort bins.

I have a question:confused3. we usually get rental cars which we are going to this time, but we were going to send my Sis, mom and the 5 kids on ME while we went and got the rental cars and so we don't have to deal with all the luggage and kids. We don't land until around 10pm so I was wondering how long it takes for the bags to get to your resort/room. By the time we get to the room the kids will need to go to bed so we will need our luggage to get them ready for bed? Does it take a long time or are they on the bus with you when you go to the resort?:confused3

BeachClub1292 -

I would pack your pajamas etc in a carryon bag as you may not get your bags until the following morning! We had this happen to us in April. We did have some things but not everything we needed and were stuck waiting.
It depends on how late you want to stay up and wait for your bags too. You should check with them at the desk when you get there.

I believe that it actually states that if you arrive after 10 pm, then you have to pick up your own luggage. I would check with the resort before you go. They may not even pick up your luggage that late and even then, you wouldn't get it until morning.

If you arrive at 10 PM, You will need to claim your own bags and take them with you on the bus so the tags are not required.

Thank you for the clarification. I did NOT get 2 per person. Sorry about the mix up. Duh! I need to stick them together. We only got 1/pp.
