Magical express and renting a car?

Quick question. I will arrive with kids for 5 days beginning 1/2/13 staying at POR. I am ready to go with ME but am now wanting to rent a car. Is it possible to use the resort bag tags and have my bag get to the resort and just take my car. We would like to hit DTD before we check in and don't want to leave the bag in the car. Thanks.

Yes, but if you call Disney they will tell you no. We have done this multiple times without issue.

I thought that when we arrived for the ME they scan that ticket so they know to pick up our luggage.

Is that because you are worried it would get stolen from the parking lot? I would be more worried that it would be left at MCO or lost by ME.

Why do you think that? Does ME have a bad track record of leaving bags at MCO or losing them? I am sure it can happen but I can not recall any instances posted here.

If you read the sticky the main issue is that if your airline misplaces your bag you won't know until you are in your room maybe hours after your flight.

Its posted that when you check in, ME asks how many bags and makes sure you get that many off the plane and in your room.

I was asking why ghtx would be worried about ME leaving the bags at MCO or losing them.
