Hey there everyone, just a quick question about Magical Express. I am driving to MCO via a rental car that I will drop-off at the airport. I would like to use Magical Express to get to my Disney resort from the airport. I am flying Southwest home. What are your thoughts on making this work?

There's no problem doing this. DME is a function of your Disney resort stay, not of your airline flights. When you make DME reservations: for inbound, tell the reservationist the date and approximate time you want to beard a DME motorcoach at the airport; for outbound, provide your flight details.

Some people have encountered reservationists who want inbound flight information. Even though it's not necessary, you can provide inbound flight details for a flight that arrives approximately when you expect to be at the airport.

HOWEVER, there might be a better alternative for you. Consider changing your car rental reservation to return your car at a location on or near WDW property. That way, you can first swing by your resort to check in and leave your bags (in your room if it's ready or with bell services if not). You then don't have far to go to return your car. The rental car office will drive you back to your resort in most cases (check with them first). You'll save time and gain convenience, compared to returning your car at MCO and using DME. Unless it turns out to be much less expensive to return at MCO, you'll be better off.

There's a "sticky" at the top of the DISboards Transportation form about car rental locations at WDW.

+1

Drop off the passengers at the resort with luggage. Drive back to MCO. Return the car. Walk over to the DME area. Take DME back to WDW. You'll be wasting 2 or 3 hours.

One way rental. Try pricing it without the fancy codes we use. Try no codes. Try AAA, COSTCO, AARP (assuming you're a member). Try sites like Kayak and travelocity. Sometimes they'll have a good deal on a one way rental.

The following companies are located by DTD and would be faster to return than going to MCO and then waiting for the DME bus to bring you to the resort.

Avis at the Hilton - is a 8 minute walk to the DTD bus stop
Dollar at Wyndham - across the street from the DTD bus stop
I have used both of these and just walked to DTD and took the resort back to my resort.

Alamo/National at the Dolphin and Car Care Center. they will drive you to the resort.
