Ooohh, Susan, job #2 sounds like so much fun!! Is it as fun as it sounds?!?!? I've always wanted to work at my local scrapbook store here. I love all the ladies that work there and it seems like SO much fun!! I'm just a bit jealous of you!! But, I probably wouldn't make that much, because I'd see all the new stuff and want to buy, buy, buy!!!

I come home with no money each Sunday but my scrapbooks look great and all it takes is 6 hrs of work every Sunday. I do enjoy it. and I love every new piece of paper.

It's been in the 30s here, sunny and nice but cool. Today it got into the low 50s. I even had to put an extra blanket on the bed but I still won't close the window:rolleyes1

It never gets overly warm here. We think the 70s is HOT!! I have all my shorts in a laundry basket ready for the trip and no sleeve shirts hanging all ironed and ready to go from our last cruise:rotfl2:

Well I'm off. Talk to everyone next weekend when I next get some free time.

Susan

Looks like everyone had a busy weekend. We went to WDW for DH to run in the Race for the Taste yesterday. And now we're getting ready to go to Portland, OR, for a few days for work. After we get back, that's when I'll start the real count-down for the cruise!

Zachary asked me yesterday "what are we doing for Christmas?" We told him we''ll go down to Kennedy Space Center for a day or so, and probably drive up to Grandma's. We just didn't say that we'd take a Disney Cruise between arriving in Port Canaveral and going to the Space Center.

We stayed at the Boardwalk while at WDW this weekend, and as we were checking out, we saw a CM holding a DCL sign. I thought how fun would that be to be checking out of the hotel and then going up to the DCL guy to "check in" for the cruise - and how very surprised the boys would be if we were able to do that! So that just makes me even more determined to not spill the beans!

We stopped by the Character Premier store and I bought Gary a shirt for the cruise - it's loud and it has Mickey on it like he's on vacation - it's a perfect "cruise" shirt. He says he won't wear it anywhere else, but I said that just means i'll have to book more cruises :)

Hope you all have a great week!

Hi all, I'm just checking in....it's been very crazy since school and activities have kicked into high gear. I'm SO looking forward to the cruise and a break from it all!!

I'm posting this again, for the newcomers and for anyone else who is interested and can't find my original post--you guys have been very chatty!!

ATTENTION CHRISTMAS CRUISERS!!!

Did that get your attention? GOOD!! I'm very proud to announce the opening of our Cafepress shop!!

Just a few disclaimers:
I have it set to make ZERO profit. I'm not making anything from this.

I'm just the shop keeper. You order directly from Cafepress. You pay Cafepress directly. They ship directly to you. If you have a problem with your order you take it up with them. (And from previous cruises, their customer service is awesome.)

I've added just about everything that is available to "basic" shops aka free shops. Our design doesn't work for the dark shirts, so I didn't add those item. Whatever shirts come in both Gray and White, I have left that as an option for you. The Ringer Shirts and Baseball shirts come with a red trim option that looks really cute with our design.

Some shirts have one logo in the front, some have little pocket logo and big back logo. I tried to make something to make everyone happy. If you want something tweaked, I can try to do whatever I can to please the group.

I think that's it---happy shopping!!!

Any questions or problems---just let me know!

It would be helpful if I included the link!! http://www.cafepress.com/christmascruise

I haven't seen any sales come through lately, but if I get an email, I'll post the code here!

Oh one more thing---Amy, can you add the link to the shop to your OP? Thanks!!

I did a quick search and found these. I have no idea if they work or not, but it's worth a try.

Hi Diana! I already ordered AND received my Cafe Press order. Two of the shirts looked horrible (the ink was orange) so I called Cafe Press and they are sending me new t-shirts free of charge. The shirts (my other three that are perfect) look great! When it comes to ordering things off the computer, I NEVER wait until the last minute because I have bad luck and always have to send something back for whatever reason, so I have to leave myself enough time to send back, reorder, etc...

For those of you who have cruised before - does anyone remember if I have to make a specific reqeust ahead of time (or note on my reservation) for vegetarian meals?
Thanks!

Hi Robin - your fellow vegetarian over here. :wave2: We were on the Med cruise last year. We did not specify ahead of time, I believe. The menus at each restaurant always have 2 vegetarian options on them (which is one more than I'm used to seeing). The only thing lacking was in soup options. Almost always, they were made with chicken stock. We did tell our servers our first night and they were always sure to know what was vegetarian and what was not for us, and a few times, they had a special soup made up for us. Well, it wasn't really that special, but it was vegetarian.

We did mention to the excursions desk that we were vegetarians - sometimes they were able to provide special accomodations on the excursion - at least then the tour guide knew to expect us. There aren't as many all day-in the care of a tour guide activities on this cruise, though, so you might not even need that advice.....

It could not hurt to note your dietary needs on your reservation - you will meet with the food/beverage team on the first day. And if you have any food allergies or are a vegan, that would be the way to go, I think.

DCL is fabulous with meeting dietary needs, and they not only check, but double-check to make sure that everything meets your requirements, particularly if food allergies / sensitivities are involved. I love that about DCL - they don't make you "guess" about things as long as you make sure you alert them to any concerns / needs that you have.

FWIW, I found myself often ordering the "lighter fare" rather than the fancier, richer foods, especially as the cruise goes on. But somehow I always manage to save room for dessert - my most favorite, and the one I'm looking fwd to the most again, is the creme' brulee cheesecake! When we sailed our three-night in April, I was too nauseous from the sea to enjoy dinner, so I missed it - but the next night our server remembered and brought me some even though we were in a different dining room. And I made a note to myself that I will take my motion-sickness meds earlier in the day so that I'll not have to miss out on dinner the first night. Same for Nathan -- he will need his just before the lifeboat drill to give it time to become effective before dinner... especially as we're crossing the FL straits.

FWIW, I already checked and our motion sickness meds haven't yet expired so I don't have to buy more!

Cindy -- What motion sickness med do you use? I always have trouble with motion sickness the first night and then again anytime I try to see a show in the Walt Disney Theater.

I just used the $7.50 off coupon at Cafe Press and had no problems. Thanks for putting that together!

The first night we saw a show - and the curtains were moving so bad.....I had to get up and leave - the motion of the ship wasn't bothering me - it was the sight of those curtains!!!:rotfl: And at dinner at parrot cay - the water was jiggling a little bit :rotfl2: that stuff messes with your head!:lmao:

i used the patch - but think this time i'm going to use dramamine or bonine since by mid week that patch was really messing with my sight (one of the side effects is blurred vision.....I couldn't even read the menus at dinner!)

Robin

I'm a weirdo who LOVES to cruise, but can't even look out the window to see the ocean whizzing by. We get inside staterooms for this reason and in Parrot Cay I do whatever I can to not be seated so I can see out the window. I've always taken whatever it is that they give you at Guest Services right before we sit down to dinner on the first night. I have no idea what it is, it's in a little packet and says something generic like sea sickness pill on it. :lmao: But it's always done the trick---except that first cruise we took where we had the outside stateroom and ever single time I glanced out the window---well, it wasn't pretty.

We've used the non-drowsy dramamine successfully - i get the chewable kind for kids.

Hey y'all - check out my new sig line!

We've used the stuff from the clinic, too. I think I'll get some non-drowsy Dramamine before we leave home and take it when we first board.

Congrats on the new cruise. I'm jealous!

I'm really bad about motion sickness. We use Mclezine, ginger tablets and the behind the ear patch. I only had a problem one night never got sick just felt icky.

Just to add were on the baltic cruise with Cindy. I'm so excited.

Lissa - that's awesome! We're excited!

I didn't have any trouble on the Med but did on both of our cruises through the Caribbean, but just on the first night.
