MAGICal Christmas 2008 - December 20, 2008

I'm going to do a long catch up post too!

Happy Easter to all that celebrate!

I hope it's warming up and the snow is melting to all our northern friends.

Good rates for the cruise? I just checked our rate, we booked the day booking opened for this cruise and the rate now, for the same cat 11 we have is just under $2000 more. DH just felt good that we booked when we did, even though he thought I was being ridiculous for booking that early!

Welcome Mike, Amy and Justin!! I'm Diana, Bruce is my DH, Emma will be 5 and Julia 4 when we cruise. We live in SW Florida but we just moved here 6 months ago from the frigid Upstate NY. I'm sorry for the circumstances that brought you to us, but I'm glad you're joining us!! We have a great group here and I'm sure as we get closer, we'll get chattier!!

I guess today is the day for update posts.

HAPPY EASTER and Yea Spring!

First of all, Welcome to Mike, Amy, and Justin. I am sorry to hear about the your ds sickness but I am glad he is going to be okay. Atleast that brings you to us here. I am Angie and I am traveling with dh Pete, dd Ashley (10), dd Madison (7) and my brother, SIL, and their ds (5). It should be a great Christmas cruise.

The weather here is up and down. One day we have 55 degree sunny weather and the kids get to play outside. Then the next day it is the 30's again. We even had some snow this morning but nothing that stuck. Looks like we will be having an indoor easter egg hunt tomorrow.

Both of my dd's are still sick. Now it is a tremendous headache, fever, and runny nose. I think we are finally on the up swing.

Cindy and Lissa, Have fun on your Spring Break Trips. My girls do not get a real spring break from school. They just get the Friday and Monday around Easter and so not really enough time to go anywhere. Also, with me in school my professors are sticklers for not missing any classes. I will be thinking of you.

We start Softball soon, I sure it hope it warms up outside. Speaking of warming up outside. I am taking my Brownie troop camping in 2 weeks. It is just for one night but if this weather keeps up it is going to be really cold. Of course the girls don't care because they all get to sleep together in a tent.

I guess that is all for now. Everyone have a great week.

Angie

Our big exciting news of the week is I was able to get us tickets to the taping of the Disney Channel Games Concert the first weekend in May at Wide World of Sports. Now it may not be a big deal to most, but for Emma, seeing the Jonas Brothers again in concert along the Cheetah Girls and other "special guests" (please be Miley, please be Miley) is going to be the coolest thing ever. I have to admit, I'd go to this concert over the Wiggles 1000 times over!! I soooooo don't miss the Wiggles. :lmao:

Oh man - I didn't realize it was time for Disney Channel Games again -- gosh, my guys would LOVE to be there for some of it. HOpefully there will be some great stars for Emma.

I apologize in advance for the looong post.
Lot's of catching up to do. ;)

First of all...
Happy Spring to all and Happy Easter to everyone celebrating this weekend!

:welcome: Mike, Amy & Justin
Sorry about the reason you had to make the switch, but we're glad you're joining us!

Dee,
Looks like it's about time for the stitches to come out now. I hope Sasha is recovering well and the news is good.

Cindy and Lissa,
I bet you're both counting the days... or is it hours now before your spring break trips. Have a GREAT time! I'd love a report when you get back.

Good rates in general or good rates comparatively? ;)
I booked on the first day this cruise was released and it really has not gone up all that much (at least for the 2 categories we booked)

You can always shop around for TA's who are offering incentives. Ours put together a really nice deal for us, kind of a group promo of her own, even though DCL does not offer group rates/bonuses on holiday cruises.

Hopefully you'll be able to join us. Keep us posted.

From what I've read they do usually switch around if necessary so that formal night is on Christmas.

But have you guys seen the thread on the main board about new dining rotations? Sounds like that's specifically for the cruises out of CA this summer, but it will be interesting to see if they keep it when the Magic heads back to FL. At least there will be some other 2x at CC cruises before ours to get feedback from.

I hope your girls are feeling well and are ready for some fun Easter festivities this weekend. So how's the weather? Hunting eggs inside or out?

Aww, you're a good mom! :thumbsup2
I love watching the little ones play. Hope the team is learning a lot and having fun with it.

DD just finished competition season for HS cheer. They qualified for finals at Nationals as the #1 team in their division, but ended up 5th after dropping one stunt and bobbling another. I swear I've never seen so many crying girls.
No tears from DD though... thank goodness.
(they were National Champions last year and they put so much pressure on themselves to repeat, especially the seniors)

Morgan,
Looks like the tech crew at the Dis needs to come up with a few more character smilies for you. ;)

OK, enough stalling on the Dis
Egg coloring project awaits.

Is a TA a travel agent??

Well, we only have 3 people. Hmm.... What to do, what to do!

Happy Easter to everyone!!!

There have been a lot of "catch up" posts in the last few days, so I thought I would jump on board!:thumbsup2

The weather here in the south of Texas is nice and warm now! Between 80-102 degrees each day!!:cool1: Thank the Gods the cold weather is gone!:worship: (I know, I know, like 40-60 degrees is really that cold, especially to you guys in the north who are minus degree weather at times, right? ) I NEVER did well with the cold, never will, and NEVER WANT TO AGAIN!!!!!

Sheila: So you like all Morgan's character's? You have NO IDEA how over zealous she can be!:rolleyes1 I told her to cool it on the posting, because she goes overboard with it. She is just SOOOO excited, that she has a hard time NOT going overboard. She is already packing, and it's still 9 months away.:lmao:

When we booked this cruise, we had 18months to wait and now we are down to 9, so YEAH!!!!:cool1: Already halfway there for us!

I hope everyone has had or will have a great spring break! Rick's spring break from college was one week, while the kid's spring break from their school was the very next week, so it made it hard for us to plan any activities for them. We ended up going to South Padre Island on Friday for the day. Oh to be young again!:cloud9: All the college kids running around the island that day, it took me back to my high school/college days!

Well, I have to get ready for work now, so have a great Sunday night everyone!

Shannon:)

Our spring break starts on Saturday. Silly me thought the kids were out on Friday -- good thing we didn't make our travel plans to start on Friday or I'd have been in for a surprise. Someone at church tonight mentioned to me about school on Friday.

We're gearing up for our WONDERful spring break, so I'm in cruise-planning mode. We have a really small group of DISers but we're still going ahead with a gift exchange. I never did get a good fish-extender but I found a bag that I can put out for it... and that makes me realize I need to be serious about getting a "real" one for our December cruise! But I'm excited because I actually had a good idea for our gift-exchange item(s), so I'll be "stocking" (sorry for the pun) up in anticipation of our Christmas cruise! :santa: LOL.

We have a very quiet board so I thought I would just say Hi!

I hope everyone that is on their spring breaks right now is having a great time :goodvibes . I wish I was there enjoying the sun with you.

I am taking my Brownie troop camping this weekend. It is still so cold  but the girls don't mind. I guess it is only one night so I will survivie.

Anyway, I guess I will get back to studying for my classes. So many papers to write so little time :sad2:

Everyone have a great week.:dance3:

We are back from Spring Break and had a WONDERful time. I'm posting our trip report here if anyone is interested.

The kids are asking when we're taking our next cruise and I came so close to blabbing... but the urge passed. But it's killin' me -- I'm not sure I'll be able to keep quiet and really pull off a surprise.

Hi Cindy! Glad you had a great cruise. WE leave Friday for WDW. I'm ready to go and for a break. Spring break was way to late this year. Hope everyone is well.

.

Welcome back Cindy D. and your family,
I started reading your trip report. It sounds so far like you guys had a great time. Of course everytime I read a trip report I get more and more excited for our Christmas Cruise. My dh told me I have to stop talking about the cruise for now and concentrate on our WDW trip in August, but the cruise will be my girls first cruise so I am ultra excited for them.

Have a great week everyone!
Angie

We've been back about a week and my urge to tell the boys about December has passed. Whew!

Hope you all are well. Six and a half more weeks of school.

I'll be turning 14 on the cruise, too!! We need to get together on the cruise! (If we get our reservations through)
We can talk about everything Disney! ;)

Hi everyone!
We are going on this cruise.
Just wanted to check in (even though it is still far away).

Welcome welcome welcome! Be sure to introduce yourself and your traveling party!

I'm Cindy D., wife to Gary, mom to Nathan and Zachary (the n and z that make me a disneymom). This will be our 4th cruise on DCL. We are keeping it a secret (so far) from the boys. I want to just load them in the car after school on Friday and drive down to the Port. We're staying at the Country Inn and Suites the night before.

we are thinking of this cruise!

We re right now reserved for the Hallowen cruise but my kids are both moving up to new schools, middle school and high school.

And they are worried about missing a week of school.

SOOOOOOOO
can anyone tell me the goods and bads of the Christmas Cruise?????

In your post on the Cruise Line Forum, I gave my answer.

In another post, I think you asked about how cold the water is? We were fine in the water last December -- yes, we're from Minnesota, but honestly, I get cold very easily and I swam at CC.

So are you still thinking of joining us onboard? :confused3

Hi everybody! :wave2:
Thought I'd pop in and say hello. We're booked to come along, too. My name is Lisa Marie. DH Paul and myself will be along for the ride south of the border with you all. This will be our eleventh cruise, all on DCL. We love the Magic and have gotten to be very close with some of her castmembers. They really are part of our extended family. We're looking forward to this itinerary very much. Cozumel and Costa Maya are our two favorite western ports so this will be heaven!
Looking forward to catching up on this thread and meeting you all!
