Mom & I got up early (8am) & DH @ 9:15, kids much later since they stayed out late. Enjoyed beautiful sapphire blue waters from the verandah. Tried to get video, but cameras kept blinking "Dew Protector". After eyeglasses & digital camera unfogged, we were able to take photos. Mom says traffic from Deck 9 gets a little on the noisy side in the afternoons during her naps on the verandah, but don't notice it much in the mornings or at night. It never bothered me, anyway. As soon as my head hit the pillow at night, I was out like a light.
Advice to hubbies out there -- don't act too much like your kids or it will backfire on you as it did with my DH. This evening on our way back to our room, we walked down the 2 flights of stairs from Deck 10 to Deck 8 and DH decided to show off in front of our teens by sliding down the wood rails. Well, guess what happens when you don't slide? You got it, screeching all the way down and wood burns to go with it on the backs of his leg. It was hilarious! I almost wet my pants. My DS was on the floor rolling around with laughter and my 15 yo niece was right there with him. After embarrassing himself on the stairs he proceeded to board the elevator when shut right in his face. He had lost it! We were already on Deck 8 and I couldn't figure out why he was trying to get on that elevator. We continued to our rooms in hysteria. Hope we didn't wake anyone. Enough ribbing on DH, back to our day.
We did Palo's Champagne Brunch. It was good, but since we don't drink champagne our server (Nadege - France) served us another alcoholic beverage of our choice at no cost. The crab legs were magnificent as the shrimp. Mom & I tried the pizza because we were too full on the buffets to have a full meal. Actually, you can get their meals from menus in the other restaurants on different nights I noticed. Lots of seafood salads, breads, cheeses and pretty good desserts, too. We stuffed ourselves. We left add'l tip for our server since she was good.
Attended Kerri's port & shopping presentation. Ladies definitely need to attend this. She gives away free items. Mom & sis each got a bottle of color changing nail polish. She gave away t-shirts and even a beautiful bracelet. She can answer any of your shopping questions as well.
Great pool games on Deck 9 at the Quiet Cove Pool for adults. I believe they would have been better if there weren't so many young adults (18-21) aboard. They pretty much took over, as they tried in the clubs at night as well.
Attended JackPot Bingo for the first time in the afternoon. Didn't win, though. We purchased the value pack and extra jackpot game for $30 to play a total of 5 games. In between games they give away prizes. The last giveaway that day was the Internet Pkg for $89.99. Robin is the caller and he's great. Very entertaining.
Today Concierge left both of our kids 2 $5 video cards each, which they spent right away.
Attended Captain's Cocktail reception which was very crowded. Shoulder to shoulder people --- too many for me. Drinks were free, though, so I guess that's worth it. Not everyone dressed up for this occasion and no one seemed to care or even notice. DH wore his nice shorts.
Saw Morty the Magnificent -- we didn't particularly care for this show -- very slow. Lots of singing and not enough magic for us. I actually dozed off twice and was awoken by the singing.
Family portraits are being taken everywhere on the ship with the characters as well as with the Captain. The adult cabaret show with the Magic of Rich Papura was absolutely FANTASTIC! He is hilarious! Must See!!! Joined kids in Studio Sea for family dance night, but the teens took over so everyone started leaving. Midnight dessert buffet at Lumiere's was unbelievable. They actually open it 1 hr before for picture taking only. They even allow you to take plates full back to your room, which we did because we had just finished dinner and were still full.
Del Roy left swan animal on bed this night as well as dinner mints, which my DS scarfed up before I had made it to the room. We fixed him the next night --- he didn't get his. Went to bed around 12:30 p.m. Don't have any idea what time the kids came in. All in all a wonderful day again.
