Magic Special 5 Day Sailing 9-1-08

Good Morning from the Rocking and Rolling Magic,

I have been awake sine 3am this morning. I woke up when I heard my nightstand drawer open and then heard something fall off one of the shelves in our cabin.

I ventured up to deck 9 after Goofy’s Galley opened up a 7am to get Hazel and I a light breakfast of fruit and yogurt. While on my way, I captured some photos and video of the waves in the ocean and also of the waves in the Adult and Goofy pools.

I am sitting here watching the Report from the Bridge on our cabin TV, at the present time, the waves are reported to be High at 20-30 feet, and I for one, believe that report!!! LOL!!! We must be in some of the outer bands of Hanna, and I think we can kiss our second stop at Castaway Cay good-bye for this cruise, especially since we were supposed to dock around 8am and we are over 60 nautical miles away from Castaway Cay at the present time. I just checked the Report from the Bridge again, and we are even farther away from Castaway cay as I type this. When I first checked we were 61 nautical miles away, now we are 66 nautical miles away from Castaway Cay. By the looks of things on the TV we are now headed on a southwest direction towards the Straights of Florida once again. That’s not an official report, I’m just going by what I see on our cabin TV.

I will try and post an updated report later as time and my internet minutes allow.

What a trip your having! Think of all the stories you can tell us! Thank you for keeping us updated.

There are some of us at my DD's school that talk about you everyday, waiting for your updates. Your famous in CA:laughing:

Hope your wife is at least enjoying her surprise:hug:

I know how it feels to be rocking and rolling we were on this past NYE Magic cruise and we were in 30+ seas for 2 days. The best part was watching e/o DH and I included trying to carry our trays for breakfast at Topsiders:laughing:

Sorry you're not going to make it to Castaway but at least they made the effort. My guess is they are headed for some calmer seas for the rest of the day so you guys can ENJOY a day at sea. Have enjoyed the blog.

Hey guys,

Just sitting here at WORK :surfweb: getting ready to close up shop and I told Mary I was feeling that sad last night of the cruise feeling for you! So now you don't have to feel it yourselves! You can just have fun until they throw you off in the morning! I can't believe I'll be seeing you tomorrow already. But I'm glad I get to be the first to debrief you! (in a military sense of course, not in the trouser sense!):rotfl: Hope these last hours drag along and feel like another week! See you tomorrow! G.

Just updated my blog for today, and what a day it was...........:wave2:

I got some great video of the Adult "Wave Pool" this morning, will be posting it after we return home.

See you at the airport tomorrow afternoon "allears" ;) ;) ;)

Lina can't wait for us to get home, she has really missed the "Old Folks!!!" :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm glad you enjoyed your cruise despite not ever really knowing where you were headed next! :) Thank you for keeping all of us concerned DISers up-to-date on your frequently changing route while dodging TSHanna. I'm sure it was quite a ride! pirate:

Good Morning From Port Canaveral, Florida,

I woke up a few minutes ago (4:20am) to the sound of the side thrusters directing the Magic into it’s home port in Florida. In a few hours we will be leaving this MAGICal ship once again, meaning the end of another MAGICal cruise.

This was the first ever 5 day cruise for the Magic, and I Hazel and I were so happy to be a part of it!!!

We have early breakfast at 6:45 this morning, where we can say good-bye to our serving team one last time. It’s the saddest day of the cruise, but like life, all good things must come to an end. At least we know, when we leave this ship this morning, we have another 7 day cruise booked for October 2009!!!

The Magic is scheduled to leave this afternoon for it’s two week dry dock in Norfolk, Virginia, not to far from where I was born.

Well folks, I guess it’s time to get this entry into my blog and pack up the old laptop for this trip. We will be catching a DCL bus for the airport after breakfast for our flight home. It will be nice to arrive back home and see our daughter who we have missed terribly over the past 5 days.

Take Care, and those who will be sailing soon with DCL, I wish you a WONDERful and MAGICal cruise!!!!!

Thanks for your blog! I followed daily along with a friend who had planned to go on your sailing. We enjoyed cruising through your and Hazel's eyes!

Have a MAGICal cruise!!!! Let me know if Andrew(server) is onboard, Thanks!!

If you are asking about Andrew from the Philippines, I was told he left DCL by one of the other servers.

Andy....Jeff Civillico was on my Wonder cruise and he's hysterical. Definitely see his adult show. Actually, its not really that "adult" at all...more like he doesn't have to "filter" his comments.

He told us he was a runner up on American Gladiator. Wasn't sure whether or not he was pulling our legs but he does have the physique to be on that show :lovestruc

Glad to hear the cruise is going so well even with Hannah as an invited guest.

Brent announced that Jeff had just returned from taping American Gladiator, will be interested to see if he is on the show this coming season.

If you run into head server John Cunningham again, could you please ask him if he will be on board Christmas week this year. We live in Scotland and have had a lot of fun with him on past cruises and would love to request him as our head server if he is going to be on board.
Many thanks, John's friends from Scotland - Judy & Russell :thumbsup2
Enjoy the rest of your cruise - hope it's not too rocky

John was leaving for his two month vacation today, so he should be back on for you Christmas week cruise.

hope your cruise goes great enjoy it, I think a mystery cruise would be kind of fun :lmao:. Have you met Luke, if not you should try he is really awesome :cool1: and last I heard he was on board

Hi Julia--I saw Luke yesterday afternoon in the WDT, but I didn't get a chance to speak with him. He surely looks like a live wire though. He was busy chatting with a family down the end of our row in the theatre.

I'll bet he was just tickled to see you! We asked about him last time and Alvin (?) told us right where to find him. We went down to say hello and at first he couldn't place us... but then I recounted the story of our room key(s) not working for about an hour one night and he immediately remembered. Such a nice guy!

debg

I don't think Derrick remembered me at first(my hair is a lot shorter this cruise), but as soon as he saw Hazel it clicked in. :rotfl:

So is Brent the CD on the Magic now? I heard he took off for a bit for a vacation (and to get married if the rumors are true). Do you know if he'll still be on the Magic after dry dock?

Sorry, I'm really not sure. :confused3
