Magic Kingdom Swap ***They're all here!!***

Thanks. I think what I have learned is...you don't try to make something you've never done before for a swap. I think my frustration is coming from the fact that I didn't have everything I needed at my fingertips when I started.:confused3

I will try again later.:thumbsup2

It's not like it's the only part of the swap that needs to be finished. :rotfl:

Off topic but my son is having some issues today and I fear that he may have too much of his meds in his system. I am waiting for his MD to email me back while I am on the DIS.:surfweb:

So, I keep giving him lots of love:hug: and he watches me work on the DIS swaps and eats snacks at the kitchen bar popcorn:: where his grease prints can live in happiness.

Susie, put them away for the day and go do something else entirely - not scrap related!! Then come back to them tomorrow. You might find that you see them very differently with "fresh" eyes. Or if that isn't your personality (i.e. you'll keep fretting about them) why don't you take a picture & send it to someone or post it? You might find that others see your work very differently than you do.

I'm sure they're lovely! All your other work you've posted looks terrific!!

Ok...here's this week's update. I switched up a bit so I have more but different progress.

Lands group A - Main Street USA - one set of photo mats and one set of tags complete. Have to figure out the other set. Will start that tomorrow :)

Attractions group C - General MK - one set of photo mats and one set of tags complete. Have to figure out the other set. Will start that when I figure out the first one :)

Just to be sure - when doing 2 of something (like - imagine this - photo mats and tags) for a theme, the two should be the same color scheme but not the same design right? This is so much fun and a good creative challenge - loving it!:yay:

I'm sure the shaker boxes are great :goodvibes As its as much as I can do to cut a straight line even with all the guides etc. on my trimmer I'm in awe of anyone even attempting them :worship:

Hope your son is feeling better:flower3:

I am finished with my tags and journal boxes...just need to figure out what else I want to do.

OKay, need opinions - Adventureland. Do you think pirate-type adventure?

Uh oh ... This is not a question I thought to ask. I have photomats for the Jungle Cruise, Toontown and for another swap (ABC swap, 2 letters) and I made matching photomats for all of these. I really hope this is acceptable as I have finished all of these mats. I probably wouldn't make 2 identical tags, but I personally like my photomats to match and it just didn't even occur to me to do it any other way.

What's the verdict on this?

This could be me reading into things too....

I'm good either way since I only did one of each so far.

One more to add - I've made my tags with lots of room for writing - is that what is normally done or isn't there a 'standard' on that. I've never really used tags as I generally keep my pages fairly simple - which is one of the reasons I joined the swap - to kick this last trip's book up a few notches. Thanks!

As a newbie I don't know the answer but here are my thoughts. Either is fine -- you can use tags strictly as an embellishment or as a place to journal. I like both. I like the idea of using it to journal because I don't like to journal but feel obligated to do so..so I have a nice smallish spot to work with and I don't have feel like I need to write a book.

missesdisney -- I am from South Jersey, where are you?

I tend not to make my photo mats or tags match, partly to stretch the supplies further (I've even been known to cut shapes from the bottom layer, so it doesn't show, and use it for another part of the swap :guilty: ) and partly so if someone hates one of them hopefully they'll like the other - I also tend to adhere the corners so people can pull things apart and reuse the cardstock if it doesn't work with their photos. But maybe I'm just a bit  and paranoid about the standard of my work.

I haven't done tags for journalling so far, but I will be doing for the paper bag swap.

ETA Adventureland - what rides are there? If POTC is in it pirates would be fine. Otherwise how about safari-type stuff (then poele can also use it for AK if they need to)

Adventureland is Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, Aladdin, Pirates and Swiss Family

I found an adorable Safari Mickey clip art, I think I'll use that

I try to make all the elements for each group coordinate. They all have the same base color and/or patterned paper on each element. My tags never look alike, but go together. Some tags had room for journaling, but some were so full of "stuff" that there certainly wasn't room for anything else.

Everything makes me think of pirates. pirate:

I've been out all day (doctor appointment in the city, long wait, bad traffic - same old, same old ;) ) and just saw this.

I think of tropical things, leafy things. I'm using palm trees, bamboo & tropical leaves on my Adventureland elements. Then if someone wants to use them for the Tiki Room they could use something with a toucan, or animals for Jungle Cruise, or a tree for Swiss Family, or a pirate flag for pirates, etc. I'm making my Attraction group A elements for Swiss Family Tree House and they'll coordinate with the Adventureland stuff.

I think, in general, people tend to send 2 different mats or frames - even borders don't usually match. Sometimes, they'll be the same except that the colors will be reversed.

However, everyone has different tastes! That's one of the fun things about swapping! For those who generally use 2 different mats, getting the identical may make them think of a new "direction" for their pages. For those who prefer them to be identical, maybe they'll branch out now...or just use them on 2 different LOs.

If it we all cared that much, we'd have put it into the "rules" - like we added the sizes. Since it's not there, it's up to your discretion! For those who have finished, whatever you've already done is going to be great...I'm sure we'll all love it! :teeth:

I've never used my tags for journaling in my own albums - usually they're more of a decorative item. But again - something different will make us all stretch & grow, right? ;)

I will say that I ended up using tags to label photos in a bunch of heritage albums I made for DH's family last Christmas. The wallpaper ended up being too busy to add names. I finished one album & then "duplicated" it 4 more times like an assembly line...wallpaper first. But I messed up & added the busy wallpaper to the wrong page! So I had to get creative. I will say that I liked the end result and this sounds like a good idea...kind of a cross between a journal box & a tag! :teeth:

I am just about finished -- I am short 3 N's which I had diecut at my LSS. So I need to get back there to diecut the rest. Should be ready to mail it by Friday.

PO had a stupid queue so I'll try tomorrow

ETA I went in on the way home - still 15 minutes wait but posted now!
