This from the press event today for New Fantasyland:

Be Our Guest Restaurant will serve Wine/Beer in the evenings. Will not offer options to go.

Magic Kingdom will no longer be a "dry" park.

.....and suddenly the ADRs became just that much more difficult to obtain.

I think that's reasonable. We have an ADR for BOG. I will definitely enjoy the meal more (and the price) if I can enjoy a glass of wine.

I had heard this as a rumor and wondered if it was true... I must say, I'm surprised.

At least they are not allowing it outside of BOG.. I couldn't believe the drunken behavior at Epcot's World Showcase when I was there a few weeks ago.

Awesomesauce!

LoL! The first time I was ever drunk was at EPCOT. LoL!! I have such great memories from that. :goodvibes Though everybody in my party remembers more than I did... :rotfl:

WOW! I find this very surprising as they have always tried to mirror Disneyland in that regard. However, I suppose, it will bring in money and it is NOT Disneyland so, there you go.

Still surprises me,

P.S. OP: Just ran a Google search to try to find information about this and came up empty. Where did you hear this? Thanks!

Weird. I've been to Epcot 7 times over the past 15 years and have never seen anyone even remotely tipsy.

I am very disappointed, but I don't know why I was surprised. Corporate Disney will do anything for a buck, and heaven knows they can rake in huge profits from overpriced beer and wine. Say so long to one of Walts longest held policies.

i agree. i find it disappointing. it didn't hurt anything (other than the bottom line) to leave one park dry.

Everyone has a different opinion on what "drunk" means. To some, it means a person who stumbles but has a beer in their hand. To others, it's very loud and obnoxious behavior while having some drinks.

Will there be people at Epcot who are drinking? Of course - this is America but World Showcase is about the countries and those countries have a very different idea of drinking. We just were merged with several European companies and it's the corporate policy to have beer available to anyone who works after a certain time of the day. We cannot do that here in America. Very different culture.

How is it any different that Club 33? It's still only one restaurant serving beer and wine and only during dinner.

I, personally, don't have an issue with this. Yes, Walt wanted MK dry but it's still 99% dry. It's just one restaurant in the evenings that will have wine/beer.
