Magic Kingdom closed to some guests due to capacity (phase 2)

We've experienced this before in years past near the 4th of July holiday. We learned our lesson - always stay on property near holidays where parks are more likely to close due to crowd levels. You're generally guaranteed admission.

wow I never heard of this, coarse I dont ever go near holidays! If I read this right you are allowed back in if you are guest at one of disney resorts?

My husband just got to work at HS, they are at phase 2, his boss told him their slammed in there. Wouldn't want to be there as a guest today.

lol I have a co worker there today and tomorrow- planning to do two parks each day....hee hee hee :rotfl2:

Note to self: NEVER go between Xmas and NYE.;)

Right? We were looking at pushing our dates next year until after Christmas, but we'd have to arrive on Dec 30 due to school schedules. I was thinking, oh cool, we can hire Kids Nite Out so DH & I can go out for NYE fireworks. I've just ruled that option out. ;) We'll stick with what we know and go mid-Dec. :santa:

Yep, Moonfaerie. We were there right after Thanksgiving and it was perfect.

At stage 2, new guests from WDW resorts are allowed in AND any guest re-entering the park.

There are 4 stages of closing:

Stage Zero - Due to limited available parking, Guests may be directed to alternate parking areas where they will use Resort transportation to travel to the park of their choice.

Stage 1 - At this stage each Guest in a vehicle must have a valid multi-day ticket. Also Guests with a Park Hopper or re-entering the Park, by showing a currently dated Parking Receipt, will be allowed in. Also, any Guests using Disney transportation are allowed.

Stage 2 - At this stage, Theme Park admission is limited to Disney Resort Guests, Annual and Premium Annual Passholders, Guests with Park Hopper tickets crossing over from another Park, Guests re-entering this Park today. Guests with written confirmation of reservations for Dining or Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or The Pirates League within one hour are also admitted. Guests using Walt Disney World Resort Transportation will be admitted. Guests not meeting the above criteria are told the Theme Park has reached capacity.

Stage 3 - At this stage, Theme Park admission is limited to Disney Resort Guests, Annual and Premium Annual Passholders. Guests with written confirmation of reservations for Dining or Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or The Pirates League within one hour are also admitted.

Stage 4 - Nobody is allowed in.

Does anyone have pictures of the crowds today (or any time the park closes)? I am curious what it looks like, but not curious to want to be there.

I don't have any photos but I'm here now. We arrived at the MK at 7am this morning, collected fastpasses and rode everything with no waits. We left at noon and the park was packed. We are heading back for dinner and fireworks with a handful of fastpasses. Just like anytime, go in with a plan and avoid the crazy times and it is a great time. Even around 11 we were still getting on rides fairly quickly, Jungle cruise was listed at 30 mins and I timed the wait, it was 5 minutes.

We will have to start going during school holidays, as DS13 will be starting high school. We had it down to the week after Christmas or the week after Easter. Easter it is!

I just left mk... everything is jammed packed. I think I waited on a 10 min line to get fast passes for big thunder rr.

WDW Magic just tweeted the wait times for the main attractions at each park -
AK Wait Times 1:50pm - Kali 130mins, Safaris 120mins, Everest 80mins, Dinosaur 70mins, Tough to be a Bug 30mins

MK Wait Times - 1:45pm - Space 165mins, Pan 90mins, Big Thu 110mins, Buzz 90mins, Mansion 70mins, JCruise 85mins, Splash 80mins, Pooh 80mins

Epcot Wait Times - 1:45pm - MSpace 95mins, Soarin 180mins, SEarth 50mins, TTrack 120mins, Nemo 40mins, CSpot 80mins

Studios Wait Times - 1:50pm - TSMania 150mins, RnR 110mins, ToT 70mins, Star Tours 80mins, Great Movie Ride 30mins

:scared1: HOLY COW!!! We go in the summer when it's crowded - which we're used to. I've never seen ride wait times like that! I think I'll stick with summer and not around any major holidays! Yikes!!!!!

Jason Garcia of the Sentinel tweeted a short time ago that MK, AK and DHS are all in some level of closure. Sounds like MK is at least at Stage 3 (no one but resort guests, AP holders, and confirmed reservation guests). His tweet implies the others are at Stage 3 as well, but not sure.

Even IOA is apparently closed for capacity. REALLY glad I'm not trying to get to WWOHP today...
