Magic Kingdom After Hours coming back (DAH); Reviews: Page 18 >>

If my kids were older I would do this. They will be 5.5, 2.5, and 2.5 for our January trip and I know it would just be meltdown city.

Does anyone know whether any of the parties have or are likely to sell out? I know it's sheer speculation, but I'm still trying to speculate about it. :) My daughter is going to arrive the evening that the rest of the family is going to one of the parties (Feb. 2). If her flight is late, then she would possibly miss most or all of it. But if it's on time, she could conceivably get to go for the last 2 hours. I'm happy to buy her a ticket (we get the AP price, thankfully), especially if she can go for most of the party since her WDW trip is extra short this time. I'm just wondering how likely it will be to be able to get a day-of ticket so we could watch the flights and see how things go that day.

As a practical matter, I'm thinking I'll probably go ahead and get the ticket, but I'd love to know anyone's thoughts on the likelihood of a sell-out.

Thanks!

Any families I saw it was the exact opposite, I've never seen kids at MK so happy before. Running to the next ride, excited to get another ice cream on their own. I think as long as you planned the rest of the day to be rested for the late night it would probably be the best time ever to them. "Of course you can ride it again"

I would be completely SHOCKED if it did - if they are using the same cap as in the spring. Springs sales/comps didn't put a dent in to it.

My philosophy is that if it sells out, it probably won't be the experience I'm willing to pay for anyways ;)

The last night was sold out, I was at that one. you would see someone on the walkway and maybe 1 other group got on the ride with you. ice cream was popular though, that took longer but everything else still smooth and empty.

There was a very entitled attitude though that changed the vibe a little but it was in no way anywhere close to what you would see when we all call the park empty..

It just depends on the kid. I know some that can't stay up that late no matter how much sugar you ply them with or how late the sleep or how long of a nap they get.

I don't disagree, I can only speak on what I saw from families that went to it.

I'd guess that the few that opted to pay for their families knew their kids and what they could handle. Had we had DGD with us she'd have been with us. She's always been a night owl, routine bed time for her, before she went to school, was 2 or 3 AM. So a late night at Disney would have been no struggle. Worked well for DD as she is a night owl too, bed at 2 AM, up at noon. Perfect day so she did the same with DGD

That might have been your point. But that doesn't mean it's Disney's point. I mean, they still advertise hard ticket parties as having "limited attendance". Yes, they are limited, but they sure don't meet my expectation of "limited".
Boy do I agree with you on that - especially for the Halloween Parties! The last two years I've attended felt worse than some of the most crowded days I've spent in the MK and I visit about 4 times/year. The Christmas parties that i have attended don't feel nearly as bad and I will continue to attend those. MNSSHP, probably not. Tired of shelling out almost $100 pp for the park to feel so crowded. I expect a more VIP feeling event when buying a separate ticket.

I guess the "popular demand" was from those who did it. We loved it and I said I would gladly do it again when doing the survey afterwards. It was a perfect night. Like having MK open for just DH and I. I would do this event again and again, without question.
I just added this to my early March trip with my Dad, who has never been to a Disney park and will turn 74 years young while we are there! super excited!.

Since you attended last spring, I wonder if you have a sense for how quickly the park was cleared of regular day guests once the event begins?

You know, that's a good question. I don't know that I really registered that. I'm pretty sure we went to eat right at park closing and by the time we got done eating, it was just cleared. Or mostly cleared. I didn't study the other guests to see if they were wearing a lanyard or not but I'm thinking there weren't many crashers either.

Oh that is a great point. My five year old loves 7DMT and was so excited when I told her she could probably ride it several times in a row if we did EMM. I'll have to think about this a bit more. If I can get them all to take a nap in the afternoon we would probably be okay to go

That's one thing about them adding it for the winter. While weather may be an issue it is a time when they close the parks earlier. Starting the even earlier means it ends earlier. Our night was much later

Debating - fly in that day and wonder if it is a good idea - thinking we can do rope drop the next am and do as much fur what my son and I world do but sounds so fun

I'm contemplating doing it on our arrival day as well. For us it's either arrival day or night before we leave. Arrival day we get to MCO at noon, so it should be enough time to eat and take naps before it starts. Night before is pretty much off the table since we will have a 7am pickup and will need to pack. My oldest wants to do EMM but as AP and DVC the price difference it so littler per person between the two, it seems silly to spend almost as much money for an hour in the morning with limited rides.

I agree, I saw quite a few kids 6-10 out and about the night I went and they were having a ball! No meltdowns that I saw, also more older people than I expected. I have been a night owl my entire life ,Mama said I was born at 2pm and that's what time I like to get up every since LOL! It is a much more relaxed touring than any other hard ticket event, every one including CM just seem so laid back and having a good time

This shouldn't be overlooked at all. The CM were all very different, both with the evening and morning events. I guess having fewer guests around takes a load of pressure off. While we have never encountered a really awful CM we do notice that they are working very hard when there are thousands of guests to take care of. It's quite different when the crowds are so minimal.

Got our tickets for one of the dates in February. Can't wait! My son is stoked about riding Splash Mtn over and over. I hope it's warm enough!!!

Does the resort monorail run until after the event? I couldn't seem to find anything other than it runs one hour after the latest park closing. Since this happens after the park officially closes I wasn't sure. I think I'm sold on the event, we'll be at the Jan 20th one. Our flight comes in at noon, should be enough time to get a bite to eat, take a few hours to nap, and then over to MK between 7 and 8pm. I'm torn on whether to buy now or wait and see if they end up offering even bigger discounts for AP and DVC like before.
