Magic Kingdom After Hours coming back (DAH); Reviews: Page 18 >>

This shouldn't be overlooked at all. The CM were all very different, both with the evening and morning events. I guess having fewer guests around takes a load of pressure off. While we have never encountered a really awful CM we do notice that they are working very hard when there are thousands of guests to take care of. It's quite different when the crowds are so minimal.

just want to add to this.. they were all great, really added that this was something different. Best examples I have is one ice cream slinger in frontier land was acting like they just rolled in on their wagon with the latest miracle scam cure. Haunted mansion would leave the door closed like they weren't opened, suddenly appear and actually run around the stretch room in the dark to surprise you...

The rest were just having a great time. no problems to deal with, no lines to control. "Pick whatever spot you want to sit" was common. "is anyone getting off" when you finished the ride. Space mount was pretty good to be told to go left to get out or follow the green line on the wall to get right back on. No complaints, no sorry you don't have a fastpass right now. it was just soak in the place and do almost whatever you wanted for them as well.. I had a lot of great conversations, made a few friends..

edit to add: I was a little disappointed nobody got the "Leeloo Dallas mul-ti-pass" impression I was doing whenever I walked up to to ride though. (It was a lanyard so I kept holding it up all night saying "Leeloo Dallas mul-ti-pass".

If my kids were older I would do this. They will be 5.5, 2.5, and 2.5 for our January trip and I know it would just be meltdown city.

I am contemplating the same thing and very tempted to try it. My daughter will be 2 1/2 when we go and they are offering this on the last night of our trip. She usually goes to bed at 7:30p but is a very flexible kid and can usually stay up late with no trouble. If she gets tired, she has fallen asleep in the stroller on past trips. We are staying at the Poly so it shouldn't be difficult to get back to the room once the night is over. The next day will be our travel day though and we have an early flight (9a) so not sure if it is worth it, but it sounds like it would be an amazing end to our trip to have an almost empty MK with little to no wait times. Plus, she is still free to get in! My fear is that I spend the money and it is still as crowded as a halloween or christmas party because I always feel those are insanely crowded (but still worth the money for the entertainment!).

When they first introduced it, I said the same thing. It had the same wording on crowd size and I didn't get why the parties had more for less money. It was when the first (and sold out) after hours happened that I realized it really was a nobody else around event and that's why it was priced a little higher than a 1 day ticket for a couple hours. I was paying for several others to not be there next to me and I didn't mind that.

They may have tweaked some things, why not wait until jan 20 (well 21st) when reports from the first event come out and then decide. Get some confirmation if it is just as empty as last time.

Good suggestion!!

This is what I was going to do and then possibly go on the 27th but the 27th is going to be a big weekend as evidenced by higher rates on hotels or sold out hotels in the area! Pro. Bowl or something that weekend and I don't want to wait until Feb. So I said the heck with it, I going on the 20th and check out a first night event. I figure even if it is not fully tweaked it will be all hands on deck for the first night anyway!

My DH will be at WDW the week of Feb 9...last I checked, the park closes at 8pm that night. Are the hours Likely to be extended? I think that this is a better deal the longer the regular park hours are...would prefer that regular hours go until 9 so that this is a 5hr event.

Those with DAH tickets were able to enter as early as 4pm. Keep watching Reports to see if that holds true for this new version.

I have a feeling disney's system can't do any other time. parties start at 4, convention after 4 tickets, epcot after 4 annual pass. I wouldn't be surprised if the ticket works to get in at 4 but the lanyards or whatever they are doing this time around will not be available until 7.

Maybe you needed brighter orange hair.

Hello! We have booked for Jan 27 with another family. We gave them a room on our DVC points. Does anyone know if they could get the DVC discounted DAH ticket price too? Or would that only be for the actual DVC members?
thanks!

To my knowledge the discount is a perk for DVC members only.

I'm not DVC so I don't know if it'll work the same way, but I do know that as an AP holder, I can buy discounted tickets and assign them to non-AP holders I'm connected with in MDE.

Bought tickets for the 2/16 event for me and DS. We've done the EMM events a couple of times now (and really enjoy them) so very much looking forward to trying this out.

What's the general consensus on ticket counts this time around? Anyone have any good guesses?

You mean the cap? or number sold?

We won't hear (or at least MK CMs won't hear) the attendance numbers until it starts happening.
Last year they announced exact numbers each day. Cringe worthy.
NEVER close to the cap.

Sorry, yeah, I meant the cap. I guess said another way, just wondering if we all tend to think the lower price will mean a flood of folks for this or if it will be be really low attendance like last time. I know no one knows at this point.

Not sure if I've really seen any more marketing of this than last time?? If I weren't on here and Twitter, I'd know nothing about this.

Yeah, I don't know if I feel like I've seen more because we all have talked about it and I've seen more folks have bought in advance OR if they have actually promoted it. I have a reservation a week it's there and have heard nothing from Disney. I would think a big target market is offsite so maybe they are getting info out to non-Disney resorts to share with their guests.

Last year they were doing good if they had 15% of cap in the park .... so if they "sell" it out based on last years numbers it will have a different feel but certainly you should still walk on to everything.

How about both? What is their cap and what was the avg attendance

Thanks, appreciate the reply. I guess we shall see soon!

Just realized I meant 2/16 in my original post, not 2/18. My night is 8-11pm... perfect for me and DS6. We can have a fun night and stay up past his bedtime, but not crazy late which wouldn't really work for us.

I thought I would follow up. I called My Disney Experience and the DVC purchaser can buy up to five additional tickets for the DVC discount (beyond their own), but they are non-transferable and you have to show ID and your DVC card at entry possibly. So, for us anyway, it's working out perfectly!
