Magic, January 16, 2010--Winter Day Castaways

Hi, all. So glad I found this forum. We will be joining you on January 16th. Will plan to meet at 3pm in the Promenade Lounge. . .Mom:cutie: & Dad (40 something) DD (14);) and DD (11):cheer2:

We have taken this exact cruise before as well as a 7 night Carnival. Prefer Disney.

One concern: We have never cruised in January. Will the water be warm enough for snorkeling in St. Maarten?:confused3

Yay!:yay: Welcome! Glad to see another teen onboard.

So DCL wants to charge my aunt $50 to send her another set of luggage tags!:scared1: Wow! Guess they're made of gold or something. Been communicating via email with her so not sure if she's spoken to the TA yet. Hopefully she'll recieve them in the mail tomorrow.

Welcome!! Glad to see another DD-11.

We have been in Dec. and the water was fine. I don't think there is a problem with the weather that far south (except rain).
Castaway Cay is a different story. Water there was too cold for comfort in Dec. Of course, I live in NC- our midwestern and Canadian friends may disagree. When you live in sub-zero temperatures, Castaway Cay at 70degrees may seem like a heat wave. DH and I may be in for simply enjoying the views, atmosphere, and some land activities at CC.;)

We were there Nov 08 and March 09 both times sadly the water was too cold for me  here is hoping this time it is better if not CC still has plenty to do.

I cruised with Dinsey this same week last year. The water was great except Castaway Key was chilly. It was okay once you got in, but the day was cool. The weather is saying it will be in the eighties in the Bahamas hat day so hopefully we get a good day.

I am gettingso ready to go. We just got 4 inches on snow and it is in the teens here. I only have three more days of work and we fly out on Friday so I will be spending my next three days off finishing my packing.

For those of you that are doing fishextneders, do you preteens consider themselves "kids" or do they like more grown up stuff...

Just looked on weather.com & calling for rain again in PC on Saturday. I wish they'd make up their minds!:goodvibes And just make it sunny & warm! I'll even take warm & a little overcast.

So DCL wants to charge my aunt $50 to send her another set of luggage tags!:scared1: Wow! Guess they're made of gold or something.
As long as she knows her room number they most certainly will tag them at the port. My concern there is if the airline is forwarding your luggage directly or if you will be handling it prior to the port. As long as you guys are handing it off at they port she should have no problem!:)

See, that's what I was refering to. You folks from Canada, the midwest, and the northeast are made of tough stuff!:thumbsup2

Depends on the hour of the day:laughing: DD-11 can go from playing Barbies to sitting alone in her room with IPOD:confused3 I'm sure they will appreciate any little treasure.

We live in Sanford! How about you?

We live in Sanford! How about you?

We are in Clemmons, just west of Winston-Salem. I am (was) quite familar with Sanford. Spent 5 years on campus at Campbell Univ. The Taco Bell on 421 was my regular stop when driving back to CU every Sunday.:thumbsup2 In those days 59 cents bought a taco (39 if on special);) I sound like my parents..."remember when ____ only cost ____":rotfl2:

Good morning everyone... It is 8 degrees in Indiana today. My day will be spent packing and bundled up by the fireplace reading a good book or watching a movie. DH is almost packed. He just needs to pick up the dry cleaning and he will be set to go. He works 4 on 4 off so he goes back to work to night and is off on Thrusday to transport the girls to Grandmas...
I work 3 on 3 off so I go back Tuesday and then am off to fly out Firday. Luckly we live about 15 minutes form the airport so traveling wont be an issue.

3 degrees outside my door right now w/ the wind:scared1:. But, on the bright side we are suppose to get up to the mid 20's.....YAY!:lmao: I am trying to keep up w/ the laundry this week so I'm continually doing that today, tomorrow, & the next........... I'm stalling right now because I need to get to the gym but it's just soooooooo cold outside I can't bring myself to go out! All I kept saying all day yesterday is "this time next week......":goodvibes I can't believe it's finally here! Got a good book for my DS yesterday " The Blind Side" (the one the movie is based on). Well I started reading it & I can't put it down. Still looking for a good book for vacation. Don't want anything sad or deep. Just a funny/upbeat good read. Thinking "Too Fat To Fish" by Artie Lange. I'm a huge Howard Stern fan & have been wanting to read it but no time. What better time than on vacation. 5 more days!!!

I am planning on reading Wicked.. but am so tempted to start it. I saw the movie Blind Side and was wanting to read the book.

Funny you guys are dicussing literature to take on ship. I went to the used book store and picked up five $1.00 Nora Roberts romace books that I haven't read. No worries about the books being too deep for vacation:rotfl2: Not sure if I can even refer to it as literature, but they are fun.:dance3:

Have you seen the show? If you have just be forewarned that the book is MUCH darker than the show. I read the book first and almost didn't want to go see it afterward because I really didn't like the book. Some parts were just SO weird!! But I've now seen Wicked on Broadway (well, traveling...) about 5 times I loved it so much!

I havn't seen the musical, but love the sound track. I have heard really good things about the book so I thought I would give it a try. I am also taking Twilight. Have tried several times to start it, and never really got into it.

I am planning on spending a lot of time by the water with my IPOD and a good book....

Same here, but not Nora Roberts, I like my trashy-romance to have a sci-fit/fantasy twist.

Today I have to try on my swimsuits to make sure they fit. Wish me luck!

Saw the musical loved it I have never tried to read the book. Keep trying with Twilight I had the same problem but once I stayed with it couldn't put it down or the rest of them.

My reading this cruise is to finish the 2nd of Nora Roberts bride series and either #3 in the True Blood series or second in James Patterson's womens' murder club can't decide.

DH is upstairs now watching football and getting his clothes together He is just as bad as me and we are determined this trip to limit ourselves to one suitcase each :scared1::scared1: not sure if that's going to work!! I always end up bringing clothes home that didn't get worn and I end up washing:laundy: and repeating the favorites

Well to tell the whole truth I also picked up Christine Feehan, and Laurel Hamilton books too. So, yeah, I like the fantasy stuff. Pretty much all of Nora Roberts that I have read have some sci-fi-ish twist too.

Hope you were pleased with your swimsuits. For mine to actually "fit" is a fantasy:lmao: (or would that be sci-fi :scared1:)
