Magic in the Kingdom 2012! BIG 2/16/2014 FINAL UPDATE!

OK, for anyone trying to catch up, first..... thanks for sticking with me. :) Second, I just updated all the links on the first page so you don't have to go hunting for installments.

Oh so excited to read through it!

Awesome updates! Love all the pics of the girls in their gowns. I really want to g down during one of the parties (Halloween or Christmas), hopefully this coming year. We are planning a trip either in October or early December, so hopefully it will happen.

Well the wait was worth it ::yes:: What a great update. I won't be back to disney for a while so you better keep going and writing trip reports for me. Speaking of which have you started the DL one yet :rotfl:

LOL, I'll be happy to take one for the team and go back for you! ;)

Thanks for the kind words. :goodvibes

Loved the updates, Janet! Katie looks so grown-up and beautiful in her dresses!

I can hardly wait for you DL trip report! I'm working on a little review of my Oct trip, too, that I want to get up on the scrap site this week.

Thanks Karen. I'm so sad about the scrapbook group ending. I totally understand why it's ending and appreciate all that Rhonda and Susan did. But I'm still really sad. It was a great community for the way I scrapbook. I could have my solitary time, but I really wasn't alone. Hard to describe, but I'll miss it a lot. I've resisted Facebook all these years, but if someone gets a group going this might just be the one thing that gets me in.

I still need to read that part of your ABD report you already posted. I marked it but it was back when life was going crazy on all fronts. Now that I have a little time again, I need to catch up! And I'd hope you get your additional report posted before the group ends.

Yeah! Thanks for sticking with me! :cool1:

Thanks! We're having the same discussion here, whether to go in October or December. Well, and whether to go east or west. ;)

Love all the pics of the girls in their costumes!

I completely agree about the taco salad at Pecos Bills..not a fan at all.

Lovely pics at BOG, I'm glad it was wonderful!

The pictures of Layla with Flynn are so precious, that is definitely the epitome of Disney magic!

Hope your family had a wonderful Christmas & New Years!

Thank you! We had a great Christmas and New Years! Our holiday isn't over yet though, as we get to keep Timmy here for a couple more weeks.

More BOG pictures to come! The girls went in red holiday gowns and blue Belle costumes. You guys didn't think we'd forget the yellow ballgown, did you? :teeth:

And watching Layla meet "her" Flynn was a special Disney memory I will always treasure. :goodvibes

Great pics! :)

Thanks Wiigirl! More to come soon! :cool1:

Janet, I would join the FB group if one got started, too. I am on FB, though I don't post much and am careful about what I post. Yes, I'm sorry about the group ending, too, but haven't participated much recently.

I am working on the mini-trip report and plan to get it posted by this weekend, hopefully tomorrow. I will, of course, keep a copy in case anyone doesn't get it read in time. My link to my ABD photos sent to me by ABD will expire at the end of 90 days, post tour (around Jan. 18 or near the end of the month if it goes 90 days from the date they sent them to us). I took 6500 photos of my own though, LOL!!!

WHOA! Someone cranked out some updates! I'm so happy! :goodvibes I was just about to get some housework done and for some reason decided to see if anything was new on the Dis and BAM! A GREAT little aid to my procrastination!

LOVE the gowns on the girls as usual. I can't believe how grown up Katie is getting… I've only "known" her for 3 years, but man… she is becoming a beautiful young lady! I'm so glad that she was able to spend so much time dressing up with her friend. I'm sure the characters love seeing the girls as well!

Do you like the cinnamon rolls with the caramel? I LOVED the ones from main st bakery, but I can't imagine caramel on my cinnamon rolls for some reason…

That little girl with the Rapunzel dress and "her" Flynn were perfect. I loved it!! He really is the best Flynn they could have! I'm sure arranging for HER Flynn was tough in the new set up! They have multiple rooms, right?

I'm surprised that Cinderella wasn't wearing her coat since she was outside… that nude top looks a little odd under her dress.

Come to the dark side! Facebook isn't that bad, if you set it up right it's really good. You can also join groups and not have to have a million unknown friends, if that makes sense… Like, I have a few Dis Friends as "friends" on FB, but some people I only interact with in the groups on there.

Friday December 14, 2012: Continued:

I'm just not very good at sleeping in. But it was still nice not needing to be at the park so early this day. We had a lunch reservation at Crystal Palace at 11:45. Before that we were on our own. We had lunch in the food court on our way out that morning around 9am. Katie had discovered the wonderful "make your own fruit bowl" and was hoping to have that again today. She was in line when a girl near her vomited on the floor. Very wisely Katie decided to ditch the line and get some pre-packaged fruit from the refrigerator case. I enjoyed some french toast.

We arrived at the Magic Kingdom around 9:45. I wanted to take our time going into the park and meet some of the characters on Main Street. The first stop was Katie's favorite character of all, Marie from The Aristocats. It's amazing how much longer her line is now that she's on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom. At Epcot we never had to wait to see her. But it's still a must-do for us. Our love of Disney really goes back to watching "The Aristocats" over and over when she was 2 and 3.

Mary Poppins was due out soon and we wanted to have her sign Katie's new autograph book. There was a family in line waiting already. She was due at 10:15 but didn't show up until 10:25. I resisted the very strong impulse to tease Mary about her lack of punctuality.

Katie got an umbrella painted last year at the cart in Liberty Square and had been asking for one of the miniature versions this year. So our next stop was Liberty Square to order that. We knew we would have to let it dry and come back. I was hoping to find Alice so we headed for the Teacups next. She wasn't out but we took the opportunity to have our first ride of the trip on the Teacups.

Katie was wearing her Cheshire Cat t-shirt so we were stalking Alice and the White Rabbit. They weren't out yet, but we took a quick spin on the teacups:

Next we went up by the castle to see if by chance our favorite Lady Tremaine was back out today. It was a different one, but our favorite Drizella was out so we got in line for a quick photo.

IMG_9504 by mom2rtk, on Flickr

It was already 11:20 so we decided to head over to the Crystal Palace for our lunch reservation. I had planned to skip the Crystal Palace this year, but Katie was disappointed when I told her that, so I snagged a reservation at the last minute.

Lunch didn't grab me that much. I would go back for breakfast because I love Pooh's Puffed Pancakes. But I could skip lunch or dinner next time and be fine with it. Still, it was nice to sit in that beautiful environment and have the characters come around, even if they were Pooh and the gang.

Our first stop after lunch was back to the Teacups to find Alice or the Rabbit. After a week of nothing but gray clouds I noticed something I hadn't seen in a while.......... a tiny bit of sunshine. When I looked really closely, I could see a little bit of blue poking through the clouds.

She's our favorite Drizella too!! She always tries to run off with Layla's Flynn doll. "My little baby EEEEUUUUGEEEEENNNNNEEE!!!" lol

She's just so playful, she's hard to resist. And she's been there for years. You'd think she would have found a man already and ridden off into the sunset! :lmao:

Fun stuff Janet. Always fun to read your reports.

I knew there was going to be mega updates and I was right! :thumbsup2
I am loving all the dresses. They are so cute and the girls look fabulous!

How wonderful to meet up with your Dis friend a couple of times and it was so nice of you to take all those pictures too.

It's hard traveling with others at times, but I am glad you were able to keep going on when Kim forgot a few things. I would've done the same. Did you guys drive to the park that day?

You got some great enchanted tales pictures. it really is hard to photograph in there, especially the mirror.
Same with BOG. I think you did an amazing job. mine were pretty crappy. I will be bringing a different lens with me this time to give it a try.

The grey stuff now comes as a cupcake...so I've been told at least. I think so many people were asking for it that they decided to sell it. ;) Disney won't miss a chance to make a buck.

Looking at all the outfits Katie is wearing put me in a panic. I have to go through Claires things and see what fits still. That dang kid keeps growing. I am not sure if she has any shorts that will fit anymore either. Oh dear! LOL

Thanks Jen. I really loved seeing the girls in their pink and blue Cinderella gowns. :goodvibes

And yes, Kim drove us to the park with them that day. They were also staying at AoA. So it was awesome to only need to walk to the parking lot close by instead of all the way down to the bus stop. That's probably the way to go on future trips if we ever decide to stay at AoA again. But honestly, I thought it was frustrating to park at the TTC and take the ferry over. I LOVE taking the bus to the MK and being let out so close to the gates.

It was sort of frustrating to have to hang out and wait for Kim to get back. We didn't want to go explore new Fantasyland before she got there. But honestly, in retrospect, it was pretty awesome to have Gaston's Tavern almost to ourselves. We'll probably never get to experience that again.

Thanks for the kind words on the photos. I was pretty happy with the ETWB photos, but want another shot at BOG. Heck, I'm toying with bringing a tripod into BOG next time! :lmao: So would you give me the stink-eye if you were dining there and I plopped down my tripod? :rotfl: Either that or I need a camera with better ISO performance. Or maybe I could go at the very end of the lunch seating as everyone is leaving?

And the gray stuff as a cupcake? :yay: I'm in. Bring me one back when you dine there in March, ok? ;)

Do you have any new outfits planned yet for Claire on your trip? I'd be freaking about the shorts too. It's still a little early to find much selection in the stores. I had that problem the one year we took an early March trip. It was frustrating, but still so fun when we finally found a few new spring things showing up in stores!

Yes, the grey stuff is now on a cupcake at BOG. I had it last month and the cake part is a marbled cake!

I had it in November and it was chocolate cake! They called it "The Master's Cupcake" and it was chocolate cake with grey stuff frosting. Wonder if they have different versions?

Thanks for the info guys! I'd like to know what's available too. Looks like we're going to need a volunteer taste tester. Anyone going soon who can try one out for us? :teeth:

Um yes....I will be trying it in march!!

And no I have no clothes planned at all. I have a cute merida applique dress that I think might be too tight around the chest area. I might see if my friend can loosen it out or something. And then Her merida costume too.

I thought you might volunteer!

Sounds like that girl's wardrobe needs some work! Does she like to wear mostly Disney themed things or does she wear other stuff too? I figure I just so few chances for photos at Disney I offer Katie as many Disney themed things as possible. Of course iti's easier now that she is into adult sizes. You are probably at that nasty in-between stage where she's too big for the kid stuff and too small for the adult stuff. Maybe some of Katie's size small t-shirts would fit her? We'll have to check that out. I know it's not as fun as customs, but it's better than (gasp) non-Disney stuff!

December 14, 2012: Continued

Next we headed over to New Fantasyland to hopefully take some pictures without gray clouds. It was still cloudy, but every now and then I caught another glimpse of blue. It really was nice to wander around with just Katie. I think I had underestimated my desire for time with just the 2 of us. First we were there with Drew, then Kim and her girls. It's just easier sometimes when it's just the 2 of us.

We met back up with Kim and the girls around 2:45. We all did Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion and Philharmagic. In the Philharmagic gift shop Katie found the ears she had been wanting the entire trip. They were covered in black lace with a cute little feather sticking out. Very stylish. McKenna got the same pair and the girls look great together. Next up was a quick spin on the Carousel and on the Teacups.
