Magic In Paradise: 10/8-10/15 2011. All cruisers check in here. (#2)

The main part of the storm is heading for NY now. We saw lots and lots of rain and wind. Right now we are in a quiet zone of only some gusty wind. DW had to work last night as her replacements did not come into work and she had to stay. She is on her way home now. I know conditions are bad but the people who do not show up without a good reason really get me fired up. They even saw some posting on there facebook page they were not coming to work and laughing about it. They should be fired. Period end of story. Good people like my wife have to make up for their selffishness and not be with her family. Ok now I can get off my soapbox.

That is a total shame! People have their lives depending on the staff at the hospital but some folks care more about themselves. You have a right to get fired up about that. It makes me steamed just reading about it! :headache:

Hey though, your wife will end up better off in the long run while those ignorants get their karma. She is most definitely appreciated. :thumbsup2

That's terrible. I have a friend whose daughter dropped her baby off at grandma's and headed off to the hospital to sleep there last night knowing that she probably wouldn't be able to make it in to work for her shift this morning. She planned ahead.

Update for me. Tree is still standing in our driveway. Still have power, but Irene is supposted to make landfall here in about an hour. Lots of smaller branches and leaves all over the yard. My DD just lost power at her house a few minutes ago, but she's got the power back on with their generator. Her in-laws have not made out so well. Just a few streets away from me. They had a huge tree fall on their house overnight. Water is pouring into the attic. Thank God the tree did not crash all the way through or it would have landed right on top of my son-in-law's grandmother since the tree fell right over where her bed is.

I really should work on my FE's but I can't take my eyes off the TV!

Oh no!! Glad everyone is unhurt. Praying everything can get patched up easily and fast. We didn't have it nearly as bad here. A little wind and rain. Not horrible. We did lose power for about 5 hours but that was around 5:30 this morning when it went out. No harm done. Most people were sleeping anyhow!

Having issues with my last minute FE gift idea. Colors aren't printing the way the screen has them. Nooooo!!! :scared1:

I'm happy that there are only 6 weeks left but, NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! :scared1: I'm not ready!!!!!

Does anybody know how to personalise the magnet images? i have seen loads that i like but cant work out how to put the words onto the images.
Cheers Mandy

Just saw this on on of the cruise line threads:

Official Word

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Believe it or not, we just ran into Captain Henry himself, so here's the real scoop:

There was some damage to Castaway Cay. The water in the area has been too turbulent to do a proper inspection and dredging so far. The plan is to do that today or tomorrow and make a final decision then. Captain Henry says the plan is still to GO to Castaway Cay, pending what they learn. He says the odds are "a little better than 50/50."

Thought you might be interested!

Good thing I stocked the fridge before the storm! Here's a photo taken from the end of my driveway looking down the road that heads to our local Stop and Shop.

Heading out with my DH in an attempt to get to his office building to check for damage. Bringing my camera with me to take pictures of downed trees, etc.

I just figured it out yesterday!! You can download Picasa from the internet and there is a tool where you can put text on the image! You can even "retouch" photos! I did that with some so I could change the dates. This way, you can customize the images for every trip you go on!! :thumbsup2

The only problem I've been coming across is that my printer will only print out images from that program in black and white with a blueish tint. My dad's will print just fine but mine won't. My printer isn't broken and I've never had this problem. I've even tried printing it out in Microsoft Word (where I usually print from) but to no avail! Anybody use Picasa that has also had this problem? HELP!!!

Photoshop! I can help you with that if you don't have a photo or paint program.

Wow, Glad your stocked. It will take a little while to get all those trees cleared. Good luck to you.

Here's wishing for everyone of our friends on the east coast that Irene is completely out of their lives and that the cleanup can be accomplished quickly.

I want nothing more than for all of us to get back to the business of preparing for and anticipating a great vacation in just over 40 days.

I know that September is probably going to pass by as quickly as August has...and then somehow we need to slow time down in October so our time together doesn't pass by too quickly.

Well it looks like I am not going anywhere. In a way that makes me happy because that means my fellow SWA family members are alright and can come into work. Still I was happy to to step up and when it is time to sign up again I will be droping my name on that list again.
