Magic In Paradise: 10/8-10/15 2011. All cruisers check in here. (#2)

Still here in Rehoboth watching the weather. Wind is picking up here but real hurricane is currently parked at my house in VA. I DON'T wanna know how bad it is down there.:sad2:

Currently taking a break from frustrating myself with FE gifts. :headache:

Well making use of my time trapped here. I made up all the labels for the FE's. Woo Hoo :cool1:. I should be done soon and ready to mail down to PC for the cruise. Any idea on when I should be mailing items for our crusie? :confused3

:confused3:confused3

I was only there once but never thought to look for them.

I have never seen a Mickey Bar at any of the food outlets at CC. Now I do know how to have that Mickey Bar and Knok Kooler, get your Mickey Bar from room service and head to the first bar you find on the ship and have them make you one. They make them on the ship as well.

Hold on a sec. Were do you get a Mickey Bar at CC? I have been there 8 times and never have seen on there.

What???!!!! They don't have Mickey Bars on CC????!!!:scared1: I had just assumed they had it. Boo hoo...where's the emoticon for bawling.

We are as ready as we can be for Irene. Batteries, bottled water, sand bags along our garage doors (yes our garage always gets some water even with a small amount of rain.) Extra gas for our generator and plenty of food. Latest track shows the eye going right through our area. A direct hit! :scared1: Plus it's supposed to arrive at high tide so they are expecting quite a large storm surge. So here's hoping all the trees along are driveway, especially the huge one in the middle of our driveway near our house, doesn't come crashing down. Hope everyone else in Irene's path stays safe.

Like I said I have never seen them there in the 8 times I have been there, but they have really good Ice Cream. Now just because I have not seen them or seen anyone eat one there does not mean they are not there, just means I have not seen it.

I plan on using UPS and mailing mine 10 days out. I read on another thread where he mailed his FedEx, 10 days out, but got there in 5 I think. Both will give you delivery confirmations, and UPS will insure each for about $100. I think. (Thanks Maria for that bit of info!) So about Sept 28th, I'll start getting mine in there to arrive by 3pm on the 7th.

And nope, folks...I don't have any 'fancy' labels on mine (sorry..I'm not computer savvy!). But hopefully, you'll enjoy them in spite of my 'dumbness' on this box.:rotfl:

Aww...so sorry you're frustrated with your FE gifts! That's me and some of this 'computer' stuff...but I'm learning:thumbsup2. But more importantly, glad you're fine right now. Still praying for y'all that your homes will be fine. Watching Va weather now. Know about a million have lost power. Glad your safe!

Still praying Maria! Glad you've got all your supplies. Hope it's not as sever as they are saying. It's 7pm here and we're watching the weather channel. Hoping you and your family stay dry, safe and sound. And hoping y'all don't lose power!

We do hope and have prayed that all of you would be safe. Losing power is scary enough, and then the added water, wind, and the unknown can be so scary. Let us know if there's any way we can help!:)

:rolleyes1 Geeeee...came by here tonight, and no ones here?:confused3 I just hope everyone is having an UNEVENTFUL Saturday night rather than, CAN'T get on!!! If the latter is the case, we are so sorry, and hope everything will be ok for you! We need our cruisin' buddies to be ok!:goodvibes

I am going to see Our Idiot Brother. Then going to go to bed as I need to be up at 5:45 AM. Maybe tomorrow they will tell me if I get to help out somewhere.

Uh oh? Idiot brother? Well, glad YOU are safe! Be careful if you head out!!:thumbsup2

It was a good movie. I am going to bring my bag to work just in case they send me somewhere. It is so Murphy's Law with me. I want to go help so I am ready, they won't send me anywhere. Just for an examole, I probably won't even start packing for this almost 3 week trip for me until the day before maybe.

The main part of the storm is heading for NY now. We saw lots and lots of rain and wind. Right now we are in a quiet zone of only some gusty wind. DW had to work last night as her replacements did not come into work and she had to stay. She is on her way home now. I know conditions are bad but the people who do not show up without a good reason really get me fired up. They even saw some posting on there facebook page they were not coming to work and laughing about it. They should be fired. Period end of story. Good people like my wife have to make up for their selffishness and not be with her family. Ok now I can get off my soapbox.

That's terrible. I have a friend whose daughter dropped her baby off at grandma's and headed off to the hospital to sleep there last night knowing that she probably wouldn't be able to make it in to work for her shift this morning. She planned ahead.

Update for me. Tree is still standing in our driveway. Still have power, but Irene is supposted to make landfall here in about an hour. Lots of smaller branches and leaves all over the yard. My DD just lost power at her house a few minutes ago, but she's got the power back on with their generator. Her in-laws have not made out so well. Just a few streets away from me. They had a huge tree fall on their house overnight. Water is pouring into the attic. Thank God the tree did not crash all the way through or it would have landed right on top of my son-in-law's grandmother since the tree fell right over where her bed is.

I really should work on my FE's but I can't take my eyes off the TV!

:thumbsup2 Agree 100% on this one Dan! We get alot of little 'ice' and maybe snow down here. This winter, I didn't want dd to drive in our 'black ice' (because Memphis ppl don't know how to drive in it), so we left out an hour and a half early to get her to work. When she got there, ppl who lived within 10 minutes of the hospital didn't show. It was sooo irritating. If we live south of there (about 30 min) and can do it, the ones who lived in Memphis, sure could've. Happened twice this winter, and we'll do it again this winter, if need be!

Oh so SORRY about your dd in-laws! That's so bad! Thankful of course that the grandmother wasn't hurt, but oh my, that's gonna be a tough one! We've been helping my aunts down in Baton Rouge, La since a 100 yr old tree fell in their house. Took years to get the house fixed (been 3) and still not totally done. Hope they can get help quickly for that, and that the water damage doesn't hurt the whole house!

Y'all stay safe Maria! Glad you're 'bunkered' down! And I don't blame you at all for watching the 'tube'!:goodvibes

Good morning cruisers

Checking in frpom Rehoboth, we are about through the weather here:thumbsup2 No damage everybody is fine. ONslow consented to a short walk and pe this morning :cool1:

Dan: I 100% agree with you. I might even forward copies of hte FB posts to the hospital HR. They don't work at Target, these nurses have patients who need them, hurricane or not.

Maria: I am sooo sorry about Heather's in laws. I am glad nobody was hurt though.

Alan: Even if htey don't send you anywhere, thanks for volunteering because we know that you really don't have to put your name down and just the fact hat you are willing to go is appreciated:thumbsup2

Glad to hear you are ok. You were in the worst area of all of us. We are just seeing a lot of wind and no rain now. Actually all this is starting to dry out the ground.

Renee works as a NICU nurse and it was packed last night. For some reason a low pressure system which a hurricane is an extreme condition really brings on labor. So it was not your average patients that these low life nurses called out on but babies that need care.

So sorry regarding your DD in-laws.:grouphug: That is what I feared most. Hope the damage was not too bad. I was beyond lucky as I happened to have a big tree that was starting to hang over my house remove last weekend. We never lost power and I everyone gets theirs back soon.
