Budget 90 minutes (6:40pm). Could be as soon as 70 (6:20pm), and in EXTREME circumstances (I'd say VERY rare based on your arrival time), 120 minutes (7:10pm).

Yep. The longest we have taken was about 1 hour 40 minutes and that was when we landed at 12:30 am and there was no one around. When it is busy (which I would expect at 5:10 pm) there will be more busses going to handle all the people landing.

would it save much time by taking a private ride and if so how much, it will be around dinner time and don't really like the idea of eating at 7:30-8

Grab food at the airport before getting on ME? I want to say that to ASMo and to POP it never took longer than 45 minutes - an hour for us from ME line to the lobby of the hotel.

Observe the time after you get off the airport tram and as you exit security.

1. If eating after 7:30 is totally abhorrent then it is easy to get dinner at the airport main food court which is about three minutes after you exit security.

2. You could eat dinner at your resort before checking in (may be a line there).

If you land, ontime, at 5:10, you should be at Movies by 6:45. When we give you the time, it is from the gate, not touchdown. Landing to gate can add up to 15 mins or so....that's why we give times gate to resort.
So, if you land at 5:10, you should be at the gate by 5:20ish, which gets you to the DME area by 5:30-5:35. Then in line for between 1 and 20 mins, on the bus from 1-15 mins, ride to the resort is 30-45 mins, depending on which stop you are. If you take averages, that gives you about 65-70 mins from gate to resort.
I arrived on a Tuesday around 11am, and was at Music by 12:10. Everything worked out beautifully....the tram was just boarding as we walked up, quickly made it to the DME area, no lines to go to the bus, walked right onto the bus, took our seats, the bus left about 4 mins later and we were the second stop.
But it is usually around 70 mins.
If you take a car service it will take about an hour. You need to figure in the 15 min walk to baggage claim, wait for bags to come, then the 30 min ride to the resort.
But there is no way you are going to get to the resort in much less than an hour. The only time that has happened for me is when I fly with carryon bags only and use a private car service...then it's about 45 mins from gate to resort.

You shouldn't have to wait until 8pm to eat if everything goes smoothly.

A taxi or town car isn't going to save you much time, for me it wouldn't be worth spending and extra $60. As others have said, just eat at the airport.
