Ok, your luggage magically appears in your room, what time is general check in? Should I be packing a carry-on with our bathing suits, just incase our room isn't ready for an hour or two, because we probably won't be able to get to our luggage until we reach our room, Anybody know how this works?

If you let the magical express handle your luggage, you are correct that you won't see it until it gets into your room. The official check in time for all hotels is 3. However, when you show up at the resort you can go to the check in and if a room is ready for you, then you can go rigth to it. This does not mean that your luggage will also go right there. That may take a bit longer. So you should pack a carry on with as much stuff as you will need for a few hours at least, bathing suit and what ever else.
You can get your own luggage off the plane if you want, and then if you check in and your room is ready, then you would have access to it.

You can go to the check in counters and get your park passes (if they are part of a resort package) as soon as you arrive at the resort regardless of transportation method.

Check-in is basically 3:00 pm. I always pack a carryon for each person with a change of clothes, bathing suits and whatever toiletries each may need. That way, we can change at the resort, swim, change, grab a bite to eat and even head out to a park. I have checked in very early and it's nice to be able to do the stuff you want to do without waiting for your luggage.
I have had my luggage delivered to me about 15-20 minutes after I was able to get into a room though. But, that was mid-afternoon.

we are flying in really late...just in enough time to go to bed and get up early the next day. Im concerned about not getting my luggage soon enough for the next morning to get ready. We are flying, so I cant pack my toiletries in my carry on. Has anyone every checked in that late and received their bags before the next morning, or any ideas on where I can get airport regulation sized toiletries?

My other thought is maybe we just collect our own luggage, but how big of a burden is that with three kids? Any input would be great..thanks

The above posters are correct in that "official" check in is in the afternoon. However, you can get there and check in at 9 AM or earlier if you wish. Of course, your room would be nowhere near ready, but you can visit parks, swim, etc. until the room is ready for you. And yes, OP, I would pack a small bag with swimsuits, etc. in preparation for several hours without your luggage.

I believe that you can check with bellman services at the hotel and let them know that you do not want your bags delivered in the middle of the night. I also believe that you can specify a time for delivery for the next morning.

As far as toiletries, you can carry on up to 3 oz of product and the room has shampoo, etc.

If I were you, I would use DME, even though arriving late. You could put the yellow luggage tags on all but one of your checked bags. In the one bag that is not tagged, you could put in your toiletries, clothes for the night as well as for the next day. Then, when you get to MCO, go to baggage claim and grab that one bag and then head down to DME and the bus. Your bag will go underneath the bus you are riding on. You will have what you need for the night and your first day in the parks, but you won't have to juggle a lot of bags in addition to the kids. Then, when you return to your room that first full day, your bags will be right there, waiting for you.

Does anyone know, can you pack a blow dryer and curling iron in your carry on. That was my other problem. I can go w/o one but not both....MAJOR frizz!

There's no such thing as airport or airline regulation-size toiletries. It's determined by the TSA. Any drugstore (Eckard's, Walgreens, CVS, etc.) or discount store (Target, Walmart, K-Mart, etc.) or even places like Bath & Body Works would have travel size toiletries.

Air passengers should always always always always pack a carry-on with: valuables, travel documents, medications, and whatever items will be needed for the first 24 hours of a trip, in case the airline misdirects one’s luggage.

I don't think you'll need a blow dryer. Have you checked with the hotel you're staying at? Most have hair driers now. As for the Curling iron, try TSA's website http://www.tsa.gov it lists what you can and can't carry on.
The only thing I'm carrying on is my laptop, camera, lanyard and paperwork. I'm letting DME do the rest. I'm throwing caution to the wind.

Im only packing this much "stuff" because Im not sure we will getour bags back before we venture out the next morning. Although as I have been making my list on what to pack my CO bag seems to grow and grow. I can only take on so big of a bag, so I might just have to collect myown luggage instead of making use of DME.

we are planning on going to a park the next morning so I need stuff like sunscreen, ponchos, wipes.....all that fun stuff. Anyway, thanks for the advice. If you have anymore that would be great.

I will be doing this for the first time in Nov. I usually drag my suitcase thru the airport, on the plane, off the plane, and onto the bus, however, my right arm is getting tired, so ME can hadle my bag from now on! I will do what the others said and have a very small carry on with camera, extra undies, shirt, hairbrush, etc.

TinkerBelle: You each get a CO (I like that, by the way!) bag and a personal item like a camera bag, computer case, purse, etc - one item that will fit in the overhead compartment and one that will fit completely under the seat in front of you. Doesn't mean you all have to take both, or that they have to be maximum size. You'd be surprised how much you can fit in a CO bag.

You also each get to take one "3-1-1" bag - one, one-quart clear zip-top plastic bag with liquid and/or gel items up to three ounces which fit comfortably in the bag, i.e. factory-labeled containers packed so the TSA Agents can easily see the labels and the size.

In both cases, it's probably not necessary to duplicate a lot of the items. One or two travel-size tubes of toothpaste (depending on party size) should suffice until your luggage arrives in your room. You probably only need one container of wipes. You definitely need only one curling iron; your room will have a hair dryer - if it's missing, call the Front Desk. If you bring a computer, you'll probably just bring one, you won't each have your own. Ditto if you bring a DVD player. Cameras are small; so are iPods/mp3 players if you bring them. A complete change of clothes, including PJs and a swimsuit, and an extra-extra set of underwear and socks, really won't take up much room at all.

I travel solo, and I can fit everything I want to carry on in a large zipper tote and a largish handbag. Then, at least at Disney, I let them take care of the "big" stuff.

My biggest concern is that I wont be able to find the 3oz containers of the things I need for my CO bag. Our local Wmart does not have a great selection of travel items. Do you know if Target is any better?

I don't know. You might have to shop around a little. I know antiperspirant is easy to find in three ounce or smaller containers. I know Walgreens has their own brand of sunscreen in three ounce tubes ($2.99 for 8 SPF and 30 SPF; $5.59 or so for 70 SPF - of course ) and in fact I'm surprised more companies don't package more products in larger than travel-size but no more than three ounce containers. Editorializing done. Anyway, my point - check out a chain drugstore.

I find 3 oz. containers a bit bulky for the carry-on zip-top bags that are screened by security. Since this is "emergency supply" only (although it can be complete supply for short trips), I use very small generic containers (.5 oz to 2 oz) that are refilled for each trip. I label them with the product--sometimes the manufacturers name, as well--and never have any problems going through security. I also include trial size toothpaste and travel size contact lens solutions.
