Magic Double-dip "SCOOP AWAY THE POUNDS"

Rachel, I understand your 'salad in the winter' statement. I have the 'soup in the summer' problem here in the desert ::yes:: There aren't that many days where you say "I could really go for a nice hot bowl of soup". It's been overcast here for the last couple of days (unfortunately no rain), and my soup mojo is in full swing.....today will be a nice bowl of chicken rice after my visit to the dentist.

Well, I have lost the two pounds I GAINED since starting....as well as one more below start weight. So I'm 1/50 :confused3 Time to get cracking!

Oh man... how I'd love to be in the desert right now. There is nothing uglier than melted snow and ice that turns black from the salt and plows. Oh, and there is a nice coating of salt and scum all over my van too. It's cold and damp all the time, so hot and dry sounds like heaven. Part of my family is from Arizona and I love it out there. I would move in a heartbeat if I could but my roots are too deep here. So I'll think of you when you eat hot soup and think of us freezing in the northeast as we're choking down cold crisp salad.

9 POUNDS TO GO! The hardest set of all. :woohoo:

I've got a great taco soup recipe that I will try to find and post. If I remember correctly, it is 2 pts per cup. It is very yummy and quick to cook (my kids eat it too). I'll try to post it later tonight or tomorrow morning. Tons of fiber and sounds better than salad when it is cold out.

Hello everyone
Just checking in. I am happy to say that I had a good week and lost 2Lbs. I hope it is a sign of good things to come. I hope eveyone else is have some success.
Vanvmom
I would love to hear your taco soup recipe. Sounds yummy.
I became really motivated today, I was looking at the Sunday paper and the stores have so many cute things for the skinny lady to wear. I would love to wear some of those little lacey looking floral tops in Nov. 2 lbs down and 40+ to go.....

I just had a warm, extra gooey cinnamon bun with icing. STARTING BACK ON THE WAGON IN THE MORNING. Woops!

Sorry all... I was wiped out by a bug going around... headache, exhausted, fever! YUCK! Luckily no one else in my family got it and it only lasted about a week. :cheer2: I haven't been on the scale in a while, so I have no real idea how I am doing???

I bought the ingredients for the soup and I will post the recipe shortly.

Okay, so I can't locate the exact recipe... here is comes from memory:

Taco Soup

1 lb ground turkey (or beef - rinse the fat off after you cook it)
2 cans whole kernel corn (drained)or I use 1 bag frozen corn from Trader Joes)
2 cans Mexican style diced tomatoes (not drained)
4 cans any style of beans (not drained)-can be Ranch style, pinto, black, white or any combo of beans - DH can't eat pinto, so we mix kidney and black beans
1 pkg Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing mix (this is just the seasoning pkt- not real dressing)
1 pkg taco seasoning (or cumin and chili powder to taste)
Small chopped onion (I prefer red onion)

After the meat is browned and rinsed, all all the other ingredients and heat until everything is warm. The longer it simmers the better it tastes. I think it was about 2 pts per cup of soup.

Oh Wendy, that sound YUMMMMMY. My big sister comes to visit in a couple of weeks, so we may try it then (she does WW).

Shhhhhh...don't tell anybody, but I think another pound has melted away.....

Hello everyone. This has been to quite how is everyone doing? I am very please to say that I have lost another 2 lbs :cool1: I still have a long way to go but i finally feel I am on the right path. Hope to see some post soon.

Yeah! Somebody lost some weight! :cool1: Good going Michelle!

I figure others (like me) haven't been posting because they haven't been doing too well. :confused3 So those of you who HAVE been having some success (with weight loss or exercise) PLEASE post.....we need the encouragement. And those of us who are struggling....let's keep posting and encouraging each other!

I've been managing to have three or four good days, then everything falls apart at the end of the week! Last week....four days in a row with DESSERT...what's up with that? It used to be that sugar was the easiest thing for me to pass up.

I also think I need some short term deadlines...to set some monthly goals. I am a procrastinator and I've been thinking "Oh when summer comes and I can hit the swimming pool" things will get going. Well, things need to get STARTED (at least!) before then. ::yes::

Here's where I could use some help/suggestions: PACKING LUNCH
I know this would be a good start for me....too many restaurant visits = too many opportunities for misbehaving! Of course, if I actually started cooking real meals for dinner, I could pack the leftovers, but anyone got suggestings OTHER than that for good lunches? I have a refrig/microwave/toaster oven all available to me at the office. Oh, and I don't do yogurt. HELP!

Jackie
Do you do salad? You could pack it the night before and keep the dressing on the side. Hard boiled eggs are a great snck and very portible. I have been grilling veggies at dinner time and making a wrap for lunch. I also enjoy garden/boca burgers. You could heat one up in the micro and fix the rest seperate, like whole grain english muffin with lettuce and tomatoes. I find if I make a weekly plan I have been able to stick with it better.Good luck.
Also thanks for the support :goodvibes

Morning double-dippers! Well, I've decided that I need a little accountability in this program, so you're going to be seeing more of me here.

Yesterday, I was home from work with a yulky tummy, but did manage to chow down on an Arbys chicken salad "MarketFresh" sandwich for dinner (and TWO cookies when I stopped over at TigersPal's house). I had planned to stop at the grocery on my way back home and didn't :guilty: so there's no lunch to pack for today.

Today's plan: I just hard boiled the three eggs I had left and they (along with an ounce of cheese) will be my breakfast for the next three days. I have taken some chicken breasts and some pork out of the freezer to grill tonight and that can cover three dinners and two lunches. MUST stop at the grocery tonight for fresh salad fixins. I've taken my supplements and downed 16 oz of water already this AM. The plan for lunch is to go to Bishops, as I can get all kinds of veggies on their buffet and usually some baked chicken or a grilled hamburger patty. I can easily pass up their desserts because they don't have anything that qualifies as 'decedant chocolate' which is the thing that really tempts me. I'm going to place especially close attention to carbs for the next week, just to get a little kick start to this. I'm tired of gaining and loosing the same four pounds over and over again!

That's the plan, now I suppose I must hit the shower and go to work, huh?

ONWARD AND DOWNWARD everybody!

Here's a soup recepe for anyone doing low carb:

1 lb sweet Italian Turkey or Chicken Sausage
1 1/2 T unsalted butter
1 1/2 T olive oil (butter and oil are for browning sausage....I skip them)
1 48 oz can chicken broth (about 6 cups)
1 10 oz package frozen whole leaf spinich
salt and ground pepper to taste
Shreded Parm. cheese

Brown and drain sausage and add it into the chicken stock, bring to boil. Reduce head and simmer 12 minutes, add spinich and simmer one minute.
Season with salt and pepper and serve w/parmasean cheese

I think this is from Suzanne Sommers book. I also put my frozen spinich in a collander and run it under warm water....don't just dump a frozen block into the stock (trust me on that one.....this girl needs VERY specific instructions when cooking)!

I use to make this soup . It is really yummy but I dont use frozen spinach I use fresh. If I felt like making it a little more special I could make the turkey sasauge into little meatball shapes( remove it from the casing) .

Kaykels... I have the point calculator for you. Went to the first meeting and am very excited.

PM me so I can send this to you.

Well, if I have to write down what I eat in an accountable place to keep me in line... guess I'll do it!

32 oz. water :o)
Pria Bar - 4pts
Salad (dining out, so guessing 6 points for the dressing)
Half of Prosciotto Paninni (May be spelled wrong, but 2 pts for the ham, 2 for the cheese, and 6 for the bread=10pt)
Diet Soda
Diet Soda again...
WAY too many wheat thins (3pts per serving, 2.5 servings = 8pt - could have been worse, could have been way to many doritos!)

So far... 28 pts. Dinner will be a light one - taco soup leftovers... where is the fruit and veggie platter when I need one?!

I'm with you there ::yes:: I've been home with the flu for three days...so things aren't going quite as planned, but I least I don't feel like eating much....till tonight...when I was overcome with the desire for Mexican food :confused3 So a guacamole cheese crisp was required. Tomorrow I hit the streets and the GROCERY store!

Well weigh in this week was better than I thought. I was surprised I lost anything. I have drank more diet soda latley and I feel so swollen. My goal..DRINK WATER.

With all the packing and moving I feel like I am getting my excercise.

Hope everyone is doing well.
