Magic cruises Dover to Barcelona August 3-10, 2015

We are going with second seating. We did that on our previous cruise now that my daughter is older and enjoyed it. I think I would feel rushed with first seating.

We are doing early seating for dinner because our kids will still be young (6 & 8). The majority of the days i am sure we will be back earlier rather than later and if there is an odd day where our excursions run long it will be the exception rather than the rule. Two weeks ago we were on a cruise and my youngest (currently 4.5) was falling asleep at some of the dinners and we had early seating!

We have always loved first seating, except feeling rushed from excursions. I guess we will try second seating for this cruise and see if we like it. I have heard that the kids club will come pick up your kids from second seating. My kids always want to go to the kids club but I am embarrassed to say that they have never gone. Would my then 9 and 6 year old be together?

Just thought I would post an update on bus travellers or should I call it a mobile Dis meet, (let me know if I have missed anyone) on the 3rd Aug London to Dover.

Dizney73 (4 Seats)
CaroPooh (4 Seats)
Rachelsmom97 (3 Seats)
Ilovepixiedust (4 Seats)
Socababy (7 Seats)
Princess Runner (3 Seats)

Total so far 25 seats taken, so still plenty of room for more travellers.:drive:

Hello all. Just got of the Fantasy and booked this cruise. This will be the second half of a b2b for us. We are doing the 12 night Baltic and then this. Cruising will be my dm, dd (18). These cruises are her graduation gifts.

This will be our 23rd or 24th Disney cruise. We did the 12 night med last year and enjoyed our port adventures booked with Disney. I can answer some questions about Barcelona from last year

We are on the 6th floor and will do the second seating.

To the other person with 18 year olds. We have had lots of conversations w DCL about the18-21 group. I think this cruise there will be a large number and should have fun on sea days.

I have been reading some posts about VAT on European cruises. Does anyone know if there will be VAT added on this cruise for excursions, spa, merchandise? Kinda bummed if there is because that adds a lot to spa treatments!

Also, will there likely be a character breakfast since its a 7 day cruise?

Hello to all! we booked this cruise a couple weeks ago on board of the Wonder, very exited, but very confuse as well, we have never been in Europe and have million questions, so please be patience. we are three, my DH Carlos, my DD she ll be 11 at sailing time and myself Elcka. Had been reading like crazy and came across an article saying that Gibraltar wasn't worth it!! some of you I hope have been there so guidance here please. Also if we are departing from Dover, where should we fly? I'm going to appreciate all the help I can get, we are planning to stay a couple days before and a couple days after so later on I need some help with hotels too. Lots of hugs and kisses!! and blessings

Saved 3 seats for you on the coach. As for airports London Gatwick or London Heathrow both have good transport links to Central London or i can help organise private transfer if you need that to. If you have any questions...ask away, we are a friendly bunch on here.:thumbsup2

We did this same cruise in 2010 and loved Gibraltar. I had been as a teenager and looked forward to going again. We went on the cable car to the top of the rock and saw the apes, had a nice walk down the main street and finished off in the marina. Just be aware the cable car ride is not wheelchair friendly, I was lucky that my daughter was small so I just abandoned her chair and carried her. I would upload a photo from the top the the rock but I can never remember how to on here, will post to the facebook page instead x

I was trying to figure this out also. I know the VAT is added when the cruises go round trip out of Barcelona, but don't know about a cruise leaving Dover. Since we are doing a B2B with the following 5 night Med. we may purchase all our merchandise, do spa, etc. this cruise if there is no VAT. Otherwise just plan for the extra cost I guess :(

We're doing the same as you! B2B with the 5 night. Thats a good idea to purchase as much as we can on the first cruise if there is no VAT! Hoping!

Were you able to do this on your own or did you book an excursion?

All of the stops are in EU countries so I think so unless the rules are different for repositioning cruises.

I think because we stop in Gibraltar we may not have to pay the VAT. Although Gibraltar is part of the EU they are exempt from EU VAT.

This is from P&O's website.

Passengers are advised that on intra EU cruises, government regulations prohibit the sale of duty free items. This means that UK VAT at the appropriate rate will be added to goods purchased in the shops and boutiques. Prices displayed in the gift shop are exclusive of UK VAT. The UK VAT charged will be identified on your receipt.

If your cruise takes in another port (such as St Peter Port or Gibraltar) then duty free items will be available and UK VAT will not be applied.

Last year we sailed the med cruise that went to Turkey and Greece. Because we went to Turkey there was no VAT. There were people who were going to Venice p, so they were staying on for another 12 nights. They were hoping to buy everything prior to the second cruise. I did find out that the shops on the ship will not putout special items early. So if here remedy shirts they will not be on our repo cruise. Just a heads up for those doing the b2b.

Also they did not sell bottles of alcohol in the stores because of the high tax.
