Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - ***UPDATED - post #411 ***

Butting in here, I am not on this cruise, but wanted to make sure you were aware that this cruise is not one that was cancelled but the one following Dec 29th was cancelled and we were informed via our travel agent, that they decided to create 2 five night cruises in the Bahamas (Not great for us). While they did this, they also lowered the price of your cruise and opened up Cat 12, to get more people to book. ( I believe they were hoping to get some from our cancelled cruise to join this one. ) I would suggest you call DCL, since you booked directed and see if there was a price reduction on your category. Looks like most Categories got a reduction, but not sure about the Suites.

Thanks so much for the information. We will definitely call DCL in the morning.

Hopefully it worked out for you and you got a reduction in price.

No luck with a price reduction. The two people we talked to said they didn't know anything about a price reduction. They said nobody had received money back and no promotions are ever on the suites. Doesn't make sense that they claim not to know anything and if there is a price reduction it should be available to all. Absolute least they shouldn't try to act dumb when you ask something.

Then tried to add on three nights at the Bay Lake Tower prior to our cruise and were told that that resort was for vacation club members only yet if I go online and book nowhere does it say I have to be a member. I can get all the way to the payment screen and never be told I have to be a member. Finally the lady took all of the information about the room and dates and will get back to us by Thursday. Then she starts with the need to change our flights and would be thinking about the fee to change flights yet our cruise is not even due for payment so our flights have not been made. I ended the day wondering if Disney wants our money for three nights at their resort and three days at their parks or not. Maybe we should just leave things as is with one night at the Hyatt. We would sure save a lot of money that way and Disney would lose a lot. Not good service today. Hopefully next time will be better.

When we got our price reduction... The DCL representative had to rebook it completely. Then they transfered our savings and ddiscouunts over to that itenerary. I kept saying that the DIS boards were buring up about the savings.. She had not heard of any savings either.

Had she heard of the DIS boards?

It's possible that CAT 3 and above did not have any reductions. If all the suites were sold, then there would be absolutely no reason to reduce the price. DCL would simply lose money on anyone who decided to rebook.

They reduce the other categories because they still have vacancies. They hope to get new bookings because of the reduced rate. And they probably hope that people with existing bookings don't hear about the reductions, so they either don't tell booking agents that the current rates are reduced, or they tell them to act dumb.

Your one of the families we hope cancels...:rolleyes1 Just kidding.. we are wait listed for a Cat 3.. currently we are in Cat 4.. If my mom decides to go, I hope we get the Cat 3, if she decides to stay home the Cat 4 will be fine..

Anyway I agree on the price drop for the suites... I doubt that will happen. :upsidedow

The DCL rep :surfweb: knew very well about DIS. Im still  about the savings..

Actually, it's Disney Rocks who has the Cat 3. We usually find it more economical to go with connecting staterooms at a lower category. Serves the same purpose for us at a better price. Of course, I would love to stay in a suite some day. Do the concierge benefits make it worth it?

I always wonder how much the average Disney CM is aware of sites like this (is there a Disney forum bigger then the DIS?). Then I wonder how many of them are active on the DIS. Then I wonder if Disney has a policy against CMs being active on Disney internet forums.

We have never did a suite yet.. Was booked Easter 08 in a suite.. but had to cancel 4 days out.. DS had pnemonea :sad2: Rebooked at :santa: 08 and that kinda sealed the pirate::santa: tradition.

I'm sure Disney has folks on a daily basis reading the thread. :surfweb: I would be:eek: if they didn't. Way too much valuable info for them floating around out here. Marketing info plus for us Disney junkies...:thumbsup2

227 and counting..

But they can't possibily monitor all of them. I can't keep up with the few that I'm following, let alone the whole Dis...And trust me, I spend WAAAAAYYY too much time here for my own good! ;)

Would you quit posting?!? I'm trying to catch up to your post count.

We are booked in a Category 3 suite for this cruise, and when I saw the discussion about the savings, I contacted our Dreams Unlimited rep. She was able to bring our price down by $1,200, so there was a reduction in price for the suites too!!! That made us so happy that we booked a five-day on the Dream in 2011. Whoo-hoo!!!

Awesome! Our cruise rebate turned into another cruise, too. A Northern European Capitals cruise next month.

We are going to TRY and use the difference for Trick or Treating at WDW....:cool1:

Who knows... Hoping for one of those Magical :wizard: pins from WDW to get a discount on the GF in October...

It might be worth taking your reservation number to DreamsUnlimited and asking if they can help you get the price reduction. Let me know if you would like the e-mail of our TA. Tracy has always done good things for us.

Happy Mother's Day to my beautiful DW & all of the Disney Moms out there!! :flower3:

Yes, I would appreciate the email address.

We have our flights and all booked through DCL as of this week so they likely won't change anything for us now. This is frustrating though. We even got our seat assignments which I thought was rather early. Maybe they were trying to lock us in good so that we didn't get a hold of a knowledgable CM who told us about the price reduction.

Tracy is our travel agent for DCL and has been ever since we started cruising with Disney a few years ago. She is fantastic. I would say the only drawback that I find with Dreams is that you correspond exclusively via e-mail. Sometimes it would be nice to have a phone number to call. But we've always had tremendous service and responsiveness from Tracy. Can't recommend her highly enough.:thumbsup2

Definitely interested in having our girls talk before the cruise and then meet each other on the cruise.

We recently added another cruise to our plans this summer. It's still a surprise for girls, but we've managed to get them in touch with a few girls from that cruise (the other girls know it's a surprise for our girls, and they think it's a fun game to talk about meeting them in "December" and then actually meet them in June).

So I'd like to get back in touch with you about this AFTER our June cruise, to avoid the confusion of meeting girls from two cruises at once when they think there is only one cruise. How about that?

It's the PIRATE DANCE!!!!!

       :banana:

It's the first pirate: of our cruise meet!!!

I'll name him Captain Christmas!!!!
