Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) **** PART III ****

Christmas cards went out today!

Amy sent ours out today and we recieved our first one also.. :3dglasses

Amy & I are planning a late night shopping trip Fri 17 to DownTown Disney.. it seems our lil princess: has grown another 1 1/2 inches.. :scared1: Which means we are betting most of her summer stuff will be a bit small.. So we are going to shop Fri night before the cruise at DTD..

Anyone else tanning for the cruise? :rolleyes1 We admit it.. we are.. :3dglasses Can't handle being fired like a lobster while on vaca so we are trying to lay down a bit of base before we go.. I know.. I know its not very :hippie: but seeing my pastey white bod in a swimsuit is

Question......'
Do you take your own beach towels or just use the ship towels when you go on excursions to the beach? Having to carry around 6 beach towels could be really cumbersome...

They have big bins right outside the ship, plus towels are available at Serenity Bay....we do not bring beach towels. Too much other stuff to pack! :rolleyes1 They are readily available for excursions that involve water, as well. All they ask is that you bring them back rather than donate them to the various Islands. :)

I admit it........we are tanning too. Going in on the Thursday before the cruise for a 60 second spray tan. We bought the Groupon for it yesterday so we may as well use it for the cruise. We live in Florida but since we are Realtors, we have been swamped! :surfweb: We haven't even been on our boat in awhile. :sad2: Don't see it getting any easier before the cruise so we are tanning....

Um....yah.....I know it is SO unhealthy, and I am quite health conscious most of the time, but we are still stuck in wanting to be TAN.......especially when we travel. Don't tell my dermatologist.....he rolls his eyes at the "base tan so I don't burn" rationale and points out sarcastically that there is a wonderful new product called SUNSCREEN! :cool2::rotfl2: Sorry, man....can't blind everyone with the glowing white midwestern girl's physique, even if it is mid-winter! :)

Plus....we got a CD with DCL tunes on it from some promotional mailing; mostly caribbean instrumentals, plus one that is purely the audio recording of what you hear while laying on Serenity Bay....seagulls, waves lapping, light breeze now and then.....can't resist laying in the tanning bed with that playing on my IPod and imagining myself in Our Happy Place!

gotta love our southern weather! Rain, rain, rain, 70 degrees, but it will be 29 tomorrow morning.....crazy!

yeah! Just about the same here in central florida! Maybe not 29, but cold!

Ugh. I just got home from the hardest Irish dance class I've ever taken. My legs feel like they are going to fall off!!

Oh happier news our WDW tickets came today!!!!:banana: I haven't been to WDW since I was about 6 so I can't wait to see how it has changed. We are staying at the Contemporary. My mom wanted to stay in the same hotel we did when she took me as a little girl.

I have another question about the towels. Do they only have towels for CC or will they have them for St. Martin, Guadalupe, etc.?

I am amazed how quick Zazzle is with the t-shirts they create. I ordered them on Friday night and got them today. Now the only problem is that the female shirts are too small.

 Stayed at the Contemporary at age 3. Arriving at CR by monorail from a different resort for dins at Cali Grill last Feb, age 41, I started crying. Taking my daughter on Dumbo like my Mom did me, waiting in line, I started crying. The memories are strong, special, and at times overwhelming. :goodvibes

:sad2:Oh dear! I ordered using the sizes from the size chart. Are the shirts true to the size chart?

Both my zazzle orders were shipped today.

If you have an excursion booked they will have towels for you where ever you meet for your excursion. If you are doing something on your own, all you have to do is go to the pools on Deck 9 and get towels before you get off the ship. At CC they have them on the pier so you can just grab them when you get off the ship.

Have you done the spray tan before? I was looking at that myself yesterday but I read that it only lasts 5-7 days....since we are leaving home 2 days before the cruise, I'd only make it through the first couple days before I'd be pasty white again! If I knew it lasted longer, I'd love to try it! I love the Caribbean beauty and attitude but am not one to lay out to tan - go figure I know it doesn't make sense! However, I'd still love to have some color so I have been thinking of options for that...let me know if you've done the spray tan and how long it's lasted. Thanks!

Hi all,

I know I asked this question many many pages ago but I can't find the posts, so please forgive me for asking this again.

DH would like to call his family on Christmas (a day at sea). So I am trying to help him pick the most cost-effective option.

If we get the cheapest internet package (not sure how much that is or how many minutes- anyone know?), could he use Skype or Google Phone to call home?

Or would it be cheaper for him to use the ship phone to call home?

I guess the other option is to use his cell phone, but I'm a little nervous about how those charges shake out. I'm afraid of getting hit with a charge from the ship AND from Verizon and worried it would end up costing more than just calling direct from the ship.

The other option I am trying to encourage is calling from Martinique on Christmas Eve. I remember someone saying there are pay phones all around the island. Can you buy international calling cards in the states to use at those phones? Or can you easily find calling cards in Martinique to use at those phones? Perhaps credit cards are an option too but again I'm just so nervous about the unknown charges that I'd rather have the calling card paid for upfront before we make the call.

By the way, we are not talking about making lengthy calls. Two calls totalling about 10 minutes max. So I don't want to agonize over this but at the same time I don't want us to end up with a $100 phone bill either if we can help it!

If any of you have used any of the above options for calling home (Skype, ship-to-shore, cell phone, or calling cards at the islands), I'd love it if you would share your experience with me and how affordable it was.

DH and I would really appreciate it. I'll have to bookmark this post this time ;)

I have had the spray tan once before and liked it. It does only last about 5 days. I have one scheduled for the 16th (our last day at home), but not sure I'm going to keep the appointment with everything we have going on. Upside, we'd have color for first formal night. Downside, might give a false sense of security while laying out and forget to repply sunscreen or get out of sun? You need to fully exfoliate first and wear old clothes to put on after. Where I go they spray you brown but it's not the actual spray tan -- the brown is to show the person applying where they have been with the spray -- the brown stuff will get on your clothes (but it fully washed out) and you'll want to sleep on a towel or old sheet for the same reason, then you shower in the am and ta da -- bronze skin! I can probably post a pic of bronze me, I felt like the color was pretty natural.

If I do have color at embarkation, it's from a spray tan. I still have stitches in my face from a skin cancer surgery last week. Be careful in those beds - I should know, I think I lived in them a few years in HS/College. :sad2:

Yeah I spent some hours in the tanning beds at well many years ago :) Sorry to hear about your surgery and hope everything is well now.

This summer I used the Jergen's lotion that has the gradual color in it. It actually works really well! But I only used it on my arms and legs so once I put my swimsuit on my "tan" might look funny. Plus, sometimes when you get in the water for any length of time it begins to come off and you look a tad splotchy. Nothing too horrible looking, but you can just see it begin to wear a little. The thing I liked about it was that I was moisturizing and coloring at the same time.

I am planning on getting a phone card while in Martinique and calling from the pay phones there. From what I've read (books, online) this should not be stressful. As long as what I've read is factual ... ;)

Could not sleep last night - til 5AM. Working on file folder getting pages printed and put in their clear sleeves. DH wonders who I am and what I have done with his wife!:lmao:
