I've got to get birthday party behind me today and then it's all cruise, all the time concentration wise.

I would love to hear from those of you with kids close in age to mine---7 & 9---as to what excursions you are doing. I've booked none so far and it would help to see what others are doing.

I'd rather think about excursions than having nothing to wear.

hi all! This is my first time posting and from the looks of everyone's posts am so glad we are not the only Disney crazed cruisers - all our friends think we're crazy! We are looking forward to all the dressing up (our pirate costumes are itching to come out of the closet)! My biggest concern right now is the theme night schedule and am wondering whether anyone knows what the schedule will be? Don't laugh but I had a nightmare last night that Pirates night ended up being on the same night we booked Palo! This would really suck as we don't want to miss any dress-up opps... I even bought my DH a tux and my 9 yr old DD and I have matching gowns. Is there any way to confirm the schedule of formal vs semi-formal vs pirate nights? If anyone could offer advice it would be much appreciated so I can get some sleep!

I believe what's listed on the first page has been confirmed with DCL. But we usually schedule Palo on Pirate night on our other cruises so we have extra time to dress up for the party(and I don't spill food on my pirate outfit).

oh, one other question I'm hoping someone might have the answer to...when we reserved our cruise we were on the wait list for main dining time. We got our docs this week but can't tell whether we got it or no. Does any one know whether we can find out ahead of time? Can't imagine having to wait til 8+pm to eat, especially with a 9 yr old with us.....

You can call DCL but they'll probably tell you dining hasn't been assigned yet. We spoke to our Head Server on our last cruise- he does the seating on the Wonder. We want our server from this last cruise on our 12/12 one. He downloads and does seating assignments the night before! So we won't know for sure if we get Alex till pretty much when we get onboard.

Thank you, Darcie!

HFC1969 - that looks like the corner of my bedroom! :lmao:

Melanie - DD will be 6 and we are doing the Island Drive & Explorer Cruise (to get to Marigot), the Atlantis sub and Harrison's Cave in Barbados, Magens Bay on St. Thomas, as well as the whole shebang in Castaway Cay.

SQUEEEEEEEEEE!

Hey all! I had an article in the passporter newsletter this week about Disney cruising at Christmas. For those in our group who have never gone this time of year you may enjoy it!

http://www.passporter.com/news/news11112010.php

I just love the passporters!

A few years ago I got buttons made at Cafe Press along with magnets and t-shirts and they all looked good. I would wear a button on my lanyard with the crazy princesses! That was too cute!

Great article Renee! I love my passporter and I really enjoyed reading your article. Brings back memories of our last Christmas cruise and I can't wait for this one!

Yeah, that one disappeared now. Ok, just in case the items disappear again here are the links to the graphics in my Photobucket account. At least you will be able to create your own that way.

Vicki,

Thanks so much for the links. I will be ordering my shirts as soon as I figure out what color shirt I want.:thumbsup2 Wish I could get the guys in my group to wear the Prince one, but I don't think that is going to happen.

My husband has been posting on the boards for a few weeks now but I figured I am would log on and say Hello too :cool1: This will be our first cruise and we are hoping we made the right decision! We have two children...DD 3 and DS 11 mths at the time of the cruise  We tossed between spending 10 days at the Animal Kingdom Lodge or this holiday cruise since we wanted to do something special this year for the holidays and my birthday on December 27 as it will be my first one in two years Cancer Free! I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer two years ago and its been a challenging two years but all is well now :cheer2:
I just wondered if any of the repeat cruisers have any tips for us. We have signed up for the FE group and are doing some of the family friendly excursions for all ages. We are doing dinner at Palo and the kids will be attending Flouders on a few different days! Is Palo as good as everyone says it is? I guess my main concern is if the kids will have fun on the cruise given their ages? :confused3 Then the other thing that keeps crossing my mind is getting sea sick... I am a nurse and was recently told by a patient that the motion sickness patches work wonders. The day we booked the Disney Agent told us that we are in the best area of the boat for first time cruisers. We are on Deck 7 mid ship with a verandah so hopefully they were right! We are really looking forward to this vacation and by golly we don't want to spend it sick :yay:.
I look forward to meeting people from the boards as it seems like a great group!

Christie

Welcome Christie! Glad to hear that you are spending this holiday season and your birthday Cancer Free and that you are doing well.

I think you will love Christmas on the ship and it is definitely more relaxing than Christmas at WDW. We love Palo, both brunch and dinner, and just really enjoy the atmosphere.

For sea sickness, we take Bonine. We start it a couple of days before the cruise and we take it every day and it usually works for us.

I am sure you and your children will have a great time and we can't wait to meet everyone!

Christie, welcome:dance3: and congrats on being cancer free:cool1:. This is a great group. Be sure to check out the first page. Aaron (Big AWL) has done a wonderful job of keeping all the activities organized for everyone.

Just ordered my scopolamine prescription. ALWAYS use it (7 cruises). Easiest way to make sure I enjoy the trip:wizard:

Halfway finished with FEs:cool1: Looking for docs.

:cool1::rotfl2::dance3::yay::cheer2:party:

I am doing the docs dance for my parents! They got their documents yesterday!

If anyone wants I can do a bunch of these and bring them- we have a button maker that makes 2.5" buttons. Just someone let me know how many I need to make!

Lori,
I would love very much to have a button!

Thanks for the kind offer :)

Lori - I would love a button, too! Please let me know what I need to do. Thanks :-)

My Jr Womens Club has an annual craft show (next week!) and doing layout today. Could really use one of those Drinks of the Day tonight, I think. 120+ people demanding to be in a certain spot, next to someone, not next to someone, near the food, not near the candle guy ... :scared:

I am an Army flight surgeon, and will have a stock of scopolamine with me if anyone needs them. Feel free to hit me up!

Melissa,
Are there any side effects from scopolamine? I'm very sensitive to certain medications. The last two cruises we took Bonine every day, and it worked well for us until we had a really rough day at sea. It was so rocky that about half of the crew was also sick. I don't want to spend another day feeling like that, or losing a day of my cruise

Lori,

I would love a button!

Thanks so much!

Can I impose on you to bring me something from Iowa? I will be glad to send you money for it- and for your time.

On our last cruise there was a lady with an Iowa Hawkeye baseball cap with the logo in pink. She said it came from Target. One of our best friends is from Iowa and lives and breathes Hawkeyes. I'd like to get one to bring back for Christmas. Rick teases him incessantly by bringing him pink stuff- towels, scarf, mittens, even the Halloween jack o lantern bucket was pink this year......I figured he'd LOVE this one!

Good thing I read on here some people were receiving their Docs already. My daughter went to walk the dog and usually gets the mail, I had to think quickly and told her that I'd get the mail today. I needed the fresh air!! It's only 78 degrees today!! She looked at me like I was nuts! Anyway, they were in my mailbox and they say right in the front in bold letters "Cruise Documents". How was I going to lie out of that one? Surprise is still intact!!

No docs yet in extremely snowbound Twin Cities.,

Lori - we would love a button for our lanyards also - one of princes and one of princess. I will pm you too.

Please, Please, Please could I have a button too???

:welcome: We have a DD9 too. Our best guess to the schedule is posted on the first page of the thread. There is lots of information there about activities, etc. so check it out. Our friends think we're a bit nuts too, but I just keep telling them that there are worse things that we could be addicted to - they really can't argue with that. :thumbsup2

I'd rather think about excursions than having nothing to wear.

We are splitting the kids up for special excursions with us and Grandma and Grandpa. We are taking DD9 snorkeling with sea turtles in Barbados. DD7 is doing a beach day in Creole style in Guadeloupe. DD4 is the semi-submarine reef tour in St. Maarten. We are doing Magen's Bay at St. Thomas and have nothing planned at Martinique because we couldn't find something that we thought the girls would like and we'll have just finished three really long port days so will need to take it easy before Christmas day. The other girls will be doing a Butterfly Farm in St. Maarten, the zoo in Guadeloupe, and Harrison's Cave in Barbados with my parents.

So despite my best intentions, I made no progress today on the FE. There was a Christmas artisans market downtown today - had to go there! - then a friend had a lawn game party that couldn't be missed - then someone suggested Indian food for dinner...Teaching Sunday school tomorrow morning, so maybe tomorrow afternoon I'll make some progress...:confused3
