Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

hi all! This is my first time posting and from the looks of everyone's posts am so glad we are not the only Disney crazed cruisers - all our friends think we're crazy! We are looking forward to all the dressing up (our pirate costumes are itching to come out of the closet)! My biggest concern right now is the theme night schedule and am wondering whether anyone knows what the schedule will be? Don't laugh but I had a nightmare last night that Pirates night ended up being on the same night we booked Palo! This would really suck as we don't want to miss any dress-up opps... I even bought my DH a tux and my 9 yr old DD and I have matching gowns. Is there any way to confirm the schedule of formal vs semi-formal vs pirate nights? If anyone could offer advice it would be much appreciated so I can get some sleep!

Welcome. I am arranging a Secret Mickey exchange. Please let me know if you are interested in being involved. The children love it and many adults also enjoy a surprise. We have a 9 year old DD as well so they will likely meet at the kids' centres.

I am an Army flight surgeon, and will have a stock of scopolamine with me if anyone needs them. Feel free to hit me up!

I visited Wal-mart today and was told that Bonomine is no longer available in Canada - only gravol. I find the first few nights of any cruise a little wobbly and have used Bonimine in the past. Is scopolamine the proper names for Bonamine or is this the patch?

If anyone wants I can do a bunch of these and bring them- we have a button maker that makes 2.5" buttons. Just someone let me know how many I need to make!
Oh yes please! I would love one

I would love a crazed princess button since I can't wear the shirt everyday....:rolleyes1

Just curious, what color shirts are eveyone ordering? I liked it in every color! I am leaning toward pink...since I'm a princess and all. :dance3:
That's why I am gonna iron on my own...mine will be tie-dyed  No picking colors for me :lmao:

BigAWL has been so wonderful as to put that all on the first post for us :thumbsup2

If you did not receive a PM but are interested, it is not too late. Please let me know if you are interested along with the names, ages if for a child, favorite Disney character and other interests which may help your Secret Mickey find that special something for you.

See Ya Real Soon.

My husband has been posting on the boards for a few weeks now but I figured I am would log on and say Hello too :cool1: This will be our first cruise and we are hoping we made the right decision! We have two children...DD 3 and DS 11 mths at the time of the cruise  We tossed between spending 10 days at the Animal Kingdom Lodge or this holiday cruise since we wanted to do something special this year for the holidays and my birthday on December 27 as it will be my first one in two years Cancer Free! I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer two years ago and its been a challenging two years but all is well now :cheer2:
I just wondered if any of the repeat cruisers have any tips for us. We have signed up for the FE group and are doing some of the family friendly excursions for all ages. We are doing dinner at Palo and the kids will be attending Flouders on a few different days! Is Palo as good as everyone says it is? I guess my main concern is if the kids will have fun on the cruise given their ages? :confused3 Then the other thing that keeps crossing my mind is getting sea sick... I am a nurse and was recently told by a patient that the motion sickness patches work wonders. The day we booked the Disney Agent told us that we are in the best area of the boat for first time cruisers. We are on Deck 7 mid ship with a verandah so hopefully they were right! We are really looking forward to this vacation and by golly we don't want to spend it sick :yay:.
I look forward to meeting people from the boards as it seems like a great group!

Christie

Hey Christine! We have the same birthday!! There is no better place to spend your birthday than onboard. Looking forward to meeting you and I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time. The ship is very stable so I'll bet you have no trouble whatsoever with motion sickness.

Wow, that would be terrific! My DH and I would love them, if its not too much trouble. Thank you!! I think they are hysterical!

Can I impose on you to bring me something from Iowa? I will be glad to send you money for it- and for your time.

On our last cruise there was a lady with an Iowa Hawkeye baseball cap with the logo in pink. She said it came from Target. One of our best friends is from Iowa and lives and breathes Hawkeyes. I'd like to get one to bring back for Christmas. Rick teases him incessantly by bringing him pink stuff- towels, scarf, mittens, even the Halloween jack o lantern bucket was pink this year......I figured he'd LOVE this one!

Lori;
Since you were just on a cruise, can you tell me what movies were showing in the Buena Vista Theater?? They will probably be the same or close to the ones showing on our cruise, I'm thinking...

You bet! Don't worry about sending money, you can buy me a drink or two on the ship. Plus you are making the buttons. So no worries!

Thanks again for doing the buttons!

Just got a new droid and i'm loving being on the dis anywhere anytime! Lori it'd love a button for dd's lanyard,..thanks! No docs for us yet. Maybe when we get home?!

Has anyone ever tried the Swedish Massage for couples onboard? We have not ever had a massage before and have signed up for the couples' massage. However, we really aren't sure what to expect?

DH and I LOVE, LOVE the couples' massage, both on the ship and in the cabanas at Serenity Bay. They are ALWAYS wonderful; They consult with you briefly before they start to find out any health concerns, areas to work on, pressure preferences, etc. At the Vista they have a small room with 2 massage tables side by side and the 2 masseurs work around you and each other. :) Oh...and if you have any concerns about being overly exposed: you are welcome to keep panties on or strip down completely (highly recommend giving them free reign for working gluteal and low back muscles by going 'au naturel') based on your comfort level. They are VERY respectful in terms of keeping you covered as needed, only uncovering the areas they are working on.

Mmmmm....now I can't wait to get there!

OH....and P.S.: My DH says I should tell you that you might want to cancel your appointment while you can, or you'll get addicted to them, too and they get expensive after a while.... :rotfl2:

Just a suggestion...you may want to confirm your appointment as soon as you get on the ship....during our Med cruise in August they were having a disconnect between spa/gym reservations and the online reservations...as in, the online ressies never got on their tangible schedules. I know WE will be making a beeline there to confirm ours!!!! :goodvibes

Enjoy!

DH & I had one in '08 while on the Wonder. It was great! DH had never even had a Swedish Massage before, and he got the "smaller" of the 2 therepists. I guess she really dug into his muscles!:rotfl:Mine was awesome, not to hard or soft. We really enjoyed it. Of course they "recommend" products afterward, but you can just say no. I would say go ahead & book that treatment together.:santa:

I spent quite a while trying to resize and print the princess graphic to make one for ourselves, but sadly it requires finding and borrowing the button maker at work to even do it. :confused3 If you are willing and will be making them anyway, I'd love one with the princesses on it. THANKS!!! I'll P.M. you, too, just in case.

Thanks! You are too kind.

I am addicted to checking disboards on my droid:thumbsup2
How else could I keep up with this group?:santa:

Just returned from a trip to Napa Valley and immediately went on the computer to catch up on the disboards  I have been reading that a lot of people have been receiving their documents, so I called my TA. She said there are no docs for me yet :sad2: Oh well, hopefully soon! :rolleyes1
Can't complain too much though after several glorious days of wine tasking hee, hee, hee :woohoo: Got to get ready for the Disney "drinks of the day"! ;)

Hi Christie! May it be the next of many, many cancer-free Christmases for you :goodvibes Excited to meet you all, too. We are also first time cruisers and just looking forward to it all:thumbsup2

Caryn

I find that you only notice the motion on the first night. I make sure that I take
my sea sick pills around 3pm so that I can enjoy diner!

The first time I cruised I couldn't eat because I was sea sick and took my pills to late!
