Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

My husband has been posting on the boards for a few weeks now but I figured I am would log on and say Hello too :cool1: This will be our first cruise and we are hoping we made the right decision! We have two children...DD 3 and DS 11 mths at the time of the cruise  We tossed between spending 10 days at the Animal Kingdom Lodge or this holiday cruise since we wanted to do something special this year for the holidays and my birthday on December 27 as it will be my first one in two years Cancer Free! I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer two years ago and its been a challenging two years but all is well now :cheer2:
I just wondered if any of the repeat cruisers have any tips for us. We have signed up for the FE group and are doing some of the family friendly excursions for all ages. We are doing dinner at Palo and the kids will be attending Flouders on a few different days! Is Palo as good as everyone says it is? I guess my main concern is if the kids will have fun on the cruise given their ages? :confused3 Then the other thing that keeps crossing my mind is getting sea sick... I am a nurse and was recently told by a patient that the motion sickness patches work wonders. The day we booked the Disney Agent told us that we are in the best area of the boat for first time cruisers. We are on Deck 7 mid ship with a verandah so hopefully they were right! We are really looking forward to this vacation and by golly we don't want to spend it sick :yay:.
I look forward to meeting people from the boards as it seems like a great group!

Aww I can't get this to save correctly. I must be doing it wrong. I right clicked on the photo and saved it to my pictures but when I open the file, it is just a red white and black line. I then copied and paste the url into my browser and saved it that way and still no go. Meemous, can you help me out? It is so darn cute!!! I'm gonna send you my email addy. Maybe you can send it to me that way. idk :confused3 Thanks!

Hi Christie! May it be the next of many, many cancer-free Christmases for you :goodvibes Excited to meet you all, too. We are also first time cruisers and just looking forward to it all:thumbsup2

I am an Army flight surgeon, and will have a stock of scopolamine with me if anyone needs them. Feel free to hit me up!

Congratulations on your recovery. I believe that you will have an awesome vacation. It is a much slower pace and more relaxing on the ship than at the parks and this is coming from someone who loves the parks. Our youngest DS was 1 on our first trip and there was plenty for him to do between the splash parks, Flounders and just walking around the ship. Palo's is awesome and we hope to get a reservation when we are on board.

BTW, I also get motion sickness but just kept taking Bonine over the entire cruise and never once had a problem. Even when the seas were really strong one night. Look forward to meeting you.

Yeah, that one disappeared now. Ok, just in case the items disappear again here are the links to the graphics in my Photobucket account. At least you will be able to create your own that way.

If anyone wants I can do a bunch of these and bring them- we have a button maker that makes 2.5" buttons. Just someone let me know how many I need to make!

My hubby and I would love a button. You could use this as part of your FE.

Thanks,

Christie, Welcome! Our DD was 3 on our first cruise and it was unbelievably special. DH and I looked at the photos the other night and the look on her face at the character meets almost makes me cry. She was meeting Minnie, Chip, Dale, Daisy, and so on. What a great celebration for your family. You will want an autograph book for her to get character autographs, bring a princess dress or two, some pillowcases and sharpies for the characters to sign for your kids is fun. You just drop the piloowcases and markers off at guest services with your cabin number and you will get it back all signed.

We use the scoplamine patches; for DD I got the kids dramamine. She never had a problem before, but you never know (snow skiing since she was 4 and got altitude sick for the first time last year, at 8, so I come prepared!)

Congrats on your recovery -- this will be a special celebration for your family!

Hi All - You can get to know a little about us and see pictures by checking out our blog from our last cruise. You must go to the bottom of the page to older posts to start at the beginning. I can't wait to start a Christmas cruise blog for our families.

Happy weekend! No more posting for me, time to get ready for the big 8 yr. old party.

I would love a crazed princess button since I can't wear the shirt everyday....:rolleyes1

Just curious, what color shirts are eveyone ordering? I liked it in every color! I am leaning toward pink...since I'm a princess and all. :dance3:

Hello Jill - My computer is trying to get me to configure 2007 Microsoft Outlook when I click on your link. Is there any way to see your blog without doing that?

Thanks!

I gotta get ready for DD's piano competition today. She's just excited about her dress, which she thinks she got for this competition, since she doesn't know about the cruise....always glad to get double duty!

FYI, Saw a flyer that girls Chrismas dresses 60% off at Macy's this coming Wednesday.

Saw "Morning Glory" last night. LMAO. Maybe I just don't get out enough...but thought it was very cute and funny. Harrison Ford was great!

One other tip for Christie - the Passporter book is a good one stop resource, although these boards are the BEST. I just like having a book...

hi all! This is my first time posting and from the looks of everyone's posts am so glad we are not the only Disney crazed cruisers - all our friends think we're crazy! We are looking forward to all the dressing up (our pirate costumes are itching to come out of the closet)! My biggest concern right now is the theme night schedule and am wondering whether anyone knows what the schedule will be? Don't laugh but I had a nightmare last night that Pirates night ended up being on the same night we booked Palo! This would really suck as we don't want to miss any dress-up opps... I even bought my DH a tux and my 9 yr old DD and I have matching gowns. Is there any way to confirm the schedule of formal vs semi-formal vs pirate nights? If anyone could offer advice it would be much appreciated so I can get some sleep!

BeadPirate, I would love a button for my lanyard.

MommyLissa-I start taking ginger pills a couple of weeks before the cruise and wear sea bands and take bonine since I have awful motion sickness--cars, planes, swings, boats--so I might just hunt you down if the seas get really bad. Thanks for that info!

By the way, this empress has NO clothes.

oh, one other question I'm hoping someone might have the answer to...when we reserved our cruise we were on the wait list for main dining time. We got our docs this week but can't tell whether we got it or no. Does any one know whether we can find out ahead of time? Can't imagine having to wait til 8+pm to eat, especially with a 9 yr old with us.....
