I should probably know the answer to this question, but I don't so here goes...Is it possible to have more than one magic active band for a person at the same time? I ask this because I have several very cute bands that I would like to use to go with different outfits but I'm not sure if I can do this.

Yes.....any MB that is connected to your MDE can be used. You can double check in MDE to see all of your active MB's.

Yep, just check your list of MBs in MDE and make sure the ones you want to use are marked as Active. If they’ve been inactivated, it’s easy to make them Active again.

Also, sometimes one will stop working even though it’s listed as active in your account, but you can almost always bring it back to life by deactivating it and then reactivating it again.

Also if you have a whole bunch active the system messes up and some will not work for the room, but the CM’s at the desk can fix it in the computer and it will work.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I'm happy that I will be able to use a variety of MBs on my next trip.
My wife usually has at least a 1/2 dozen to go with what she's wearing or the park we're visiting! As long as they are activated in your MDE, you're good to enter the parks (with tickets, of course), unlock your room, and charge to your account. And believe me, the 'charging' option ALWAYS seems to work at Disney!!

To take this one step further - if you have any issues with your Magic Bands during your trip, and you have more than one Magic Band active at that time, the Cast Members will tell you that the problem is that you have too many active bands. We don't know whether or not that is the truth, but that's what the Cast Members will say.

And with Magic Band issues, you can take them to the front desk, but you might go back to your room and discover that the problem (whatever caused it) still has not been fixed.

There is a cap to the number of active bands one can have… it’s around 8-14 but I don’t remember…
Also, even though a band may be active it might not work for various reasons because it’s old. The near touch should work for a couple of years to make entry lanes and doors work but the photo pass ability on a ride might become wonky.

We've been told there is a cap, too - but no one seems to have an accurate number. We've had as many as 20 active bands/cards and things worked fine. We've also reduced the actives to 6 and had issues. I'm not convinced there is an issue with that many active bands. I often think it is a "go-to" reason the cast members give because it's what the tech team tells them. I know the issue is technical, but it seems somewhat sporadic in our experiences. That being said, we do now inactivate most of them, and only activate the bands we're taking along. It hasn't eliminated issues, but it seems to work better.

The good thing is, if this happens you can unlock the door with your phone with MDE.

We've been in both these situations too (sometimes being told we have too many bands, but at other times we've had huge numbers of active bands).

Also, "too many bands" isn't a great position to take when they want us to buy more bands (and I'm guessing their profit margin on those things is pretty high).

The Mickey-to-Mickey touch functions, i.e. park entry, LL tap points, door locks, room charge, will work more or less indefinitely because they depend on power from the touch point, not from a battery in the band. The long range functions such as linking photos from a ride will stop working after two or three years because they do depend on a battery inside the MB.
