Magic bands- order now or later?

I just hope that with them moving more and more magic band functions to phones that they don't start scaling back on the pre-trip offerings.

You can definitely reuse old bands. Should be good for everything for at least a couple years. And even after that they would be good for park entry, room doors, charging etc, just doesn’t pick up the long range for ride photos.

I wish there was a way to test if the MB battery works. At least without missing out on a bunch of ride photos. We plan on only getting one (for DD) for the photos and I worry her MB will have been sitting in a warehouse for a couple of years. Us parents will use the cards.

Hopefully someone will correct me if I’m wrong but I think you would still get pics from any of the tap points at the end of the ride. It’s the long range ones like 7 dwarves where I believe the bands trigger the pic mid ride that you would miss out on. Should be no issues getting pics at splash, space, tower of terror etc where you tap your pics at the end of the ride

I am going to want allllllllll of them since I'll have the Memory Maker. If photos were guaranteed to show within say 3 hours, I could just keep an eye out. I'd even be willing to go to a special place to test it out. Like an auto-photospot would work. You could push a button and a camera would take the photo in 30 seconds. If it didn't find a Magic Band it could tell you and let you tap it.

Everybody on the reservation needs to order at the same time. If anybody in the party doesn’t want one they can decline while the others put in their order.

To get or not to get? My instinct is they will become totally unnecessary sometime in 2022 but they would be useful if you still rather wear and use MB. They’re fun and easy. So it comes down to protecting the price. If you like to use MB regardless of what phone functions are added, then locking in at $10 is probably a good idea.

Yeah and it looks like if you decline it, you can't go back and order one at that price. I am traveling in Sept. with 2 other who don't have any magic bands so I ordered for them and declined one for myself since I have a few I can use. Later I thought well maybe I'd like a new one too but now I don't see that option.

Magic band mail day is the best !! When they use to give them free it was about a month out.
I personally would buy them for a holiday that's closest to your trip and make a nice gift out of it.
