Magic Bands info for the new test dates in August

I just signed on to my account and was able to customize my bands and select FP+ for our trip beginning on 8/24. Is it worth it to get FP+ for Illuminations, Wishes and Electrical Parade? I have all 3 right now but not sure if I should keep them.

I chose Wishes because, in the past as a single parent, staking out a spot an hour-hour and 1/2 before the show and praying my son wont have to use the bathroom (he always did!) was so stressful. So getting it for Wishes is great, I just have to show up a few minutes before 10.

All I can say is that what IT told me if it let you use the DME to set up magic bands and fast passes you will be getting them. Part of the deal is that the emails are only going out something like 17 days before you arrive.

Interesting...so I guess there still is hope that Disney IT did know what they were doing.

I am not convinced of the value of these... definitely not Illuminations. You can see that from anywhere... literally. Wishes and EP, perhaps, so you wouldn't have to worry about fighting people. But that eats up two FP+ you could use during the day, so I don't know. You would then only be able to have one FP+ for another attraction during the day.

I just did Fantasmic. We have seen MSEP enough. Wishes is a must be we always can see it. Illuminations is another one we always see and. Like you said easy viewing for that as well.

Oh, I just read that I have to link my cards I have from UT.
If I did that would I be able to have the FP+?
Thank you.

I'm not saying that you're wrong and I'm right. I'm just frustrated that they can't get their story straight. Why does one CM say to one guest "Yes you get bands!" and the next CM says to another guest "No Magicband for you!"

On a positive note, MDE now has all the correct info for my family...my 5 year old has tickets now! We don't have to leave him in the hotel room by himself!:rotfl2:

I'm in the camp if I get them great if not. It isn't going to ruin my trip or anything. So you wont' get any your right I'm wrong out of me.:grouphug:

Glad your son will be able to join you. I almost had to do the same both of my girls were without tickets until I set up the magic bands.

The FP+ FAQ says that you will not be able to use the old in-park FP system if you enter the park with tickets that have FP+ times booked.

I just got off the phone with a CM in "FastPass+ Testing", and she was very helpful and seemed knowledgable as to how the testing was going to work.

We have a triple split stay starting August 10. We check into Pop on August 17 and yesterday we were prompted to customize our MB's for that portion of our stay, which we did. We have not gotten an email or anything indicating that we are part of a test group. However, on the off chance that we ARE testing, I was concerned that our MB's would not arrive in time, since we leave home on the 10th. I was also concerned about how it would work with our PAP vouchers (if I link them on the MDX site, they will be linked to the MB's... which aren't "live" for us until the Pop stay at the end of our trip. I don't want to invalidate the ticket media for the first part of the trip!)

I called the main WDW reservation line and got a CM who tried to find out all this information, gave up, and gave me a different number to call for more info. I called, and it was told as follows:

1. By virtue of staying at Pop on those dates, we ARE part of the testing, and our MB's are coming. She placed an order to have our MB shipment expedited (she thinks it will be a FedEx delivery) so they arrive before we leave on the 10th. If they somehow DON'T arrive before we leave, we will be issued MB's at check in. She believes in that instance they will be the Iconic Gray.

2. She recommended that we NOT link our PAP vouchers through the MDX site. She strongly suggested that we wait till we are onsite, exchange our vouchers for regular AP's, then work with the concierge at POP (or use our smartphone) when we arrive there to make the FP+ reservations. She had the same concerns I did about messing up the APs for the first part of our trip by linking them to the MB's. I expressed some concern that we wouldn't be able to make FP+ reservations in advance, but she seemed to think that it wouldn't really be a problem because it is a limited test and so we aren't competing with thousands and thousands of other people for the time slots.

It sounds like there are definitely some kinks to be worked out, especially with the AP's. I'm excited to be testing it, but also glad that we are doing it at the END of our trip, after we will have already done our "must do's".

by any chance did you link your tickets or just showed up because i am going to MNSSHP in Sept i am purchasing them this week so should i link them or not ?

I haven't 'linked' my tickets to anything yet. I'm not really sure what that means or accomplishes.

If you don't have tickets in the MDX website, how are you making FP+ reservations? I can't make FP+ reservations because I have not input ("linked") any tickets (see my previous post). Am I overlooking a way to make FP+ reservations without having tickets in the MDX system?

I'm wondering the same thing..should I link my tickets to my account at MDE or not (I got the tickets from UT), I am part of the test program as I did receive the email. I customized my magic bands, but cannot choose my fast pass+ unless I link the tickets..Im so undecided what to do! If I do link the tickets, are the paper ones I have not useable? So, then apparentaly I wouldn't be able to use the regular fastpass because the magic bands will be our tickets? By agreeing to accept the invite to be part of the test group to I HAVE to link my tickets? I am becoming more and more confused. Oh, I am staying at Pop Aug 5-10, but leaving on Aug 2 to drive from NJ and then staying at a relatives house till Monday..so I have to decide soon!

Ugh I was hopeful with your post but DS 4 is still not eligible for FP+ today and it says DD must have park tickets to be eligible (she's 2).

I don't like being a guinea pig. I want a working system that is clear to use and in place- I don't think I care what the system is at this point.

It's for the testing period so you are not obligated to but I think it would be fun to do it. It's up to you and what you are comfortable with. According to the rules you wouldn't be able to use normal FP, but I can't say for certain. Good luck either way though!

i have my new RFID annual pass linked to MDE just when i was able to link it through the site a couple of weeks ago i hope it doesn't cause no issue also when i get to the park as i'm hearing the tickets get lost out in space.

Hi. I am staying at BLT from August 25-30.
Thank you.

Contemporary is on the list so not sure if that includes blt. But I would check on it. All you have to do is sign into DME and if you see magic bands and it prompts you to customize you are in.
