Magic Bands info for the new test dates in August

Contemporary is on the list so not sure if that includes blt. But I would check on it. All you have to do is sign into DME and if you see magic bands and it prompts you to customize you are in.

Maybe not... some people have reported that they were able to customize MBs and FP+s on MDE, but that they were in fact ineligible for the test.

As a rule of thumb, never trust anything that you see on MDE.

The FP+ FAQ says that you will not be able to use the old in-park FP system if you enter the park with tickets that have FP+ times booked.

But has that held true for the previous FP+ testers?

No, in all of the previous tests, the FP+ user-testers were also allowed to use FP- simultaneously.

I am unsure if that is also true for the upcoming test, or if this test will be the one where they finally lock you out of FP-.

Ugh I was hopeful with your post but DS 4 is still not eligible for FP+ today and it says DD must have park tickets to be eligible (she's 2).

I don't like being a guinea pig. I want a working system that is clear to use and in place- I don't think I care what the system is at this point.

I had to call to get him on MDE. I was already calling to ask about the test and to see if we were part of it and told the CM the problem we were having with his tickets. I gave her my reservation # and she confirmed that he was on that and asked if she had my permission to access my account on MDE. Of course I said yes and she saw he was not listed. She tried to fix it but was unable to and said she was going to forward everything to someone else in IT who could fix it. She verified all my info(the names/ages) and said it should be fixed shortly. When I checked back an hour or so later, the website had the correct info.

I need to wait until I talk to DH before we do the magicband thing. Need to verify color choices with him

Ok should have stated you are in. But that don't mean 100%.

I'm only going by what I was told this am. That I am getting the magic bands and the emails are only going out around 17 days before arrival. I didn't get a email. But really I have nothing to loose.

Ok, for better or for worse, I just set up our FP+ times. I did have to modify my park plans slightly, since it gave me the option of priority parade & Wishes viewing only on our last day. This is our second trip in a year's time, so I plan on it being very leisurely, i.e. I do not feel like we have to see everything.

8/21 Epcot WS. Arrive at 11.
11-12 Maelstrom FP+
Tour pavilions until 3'ish. Pool time. Dinner at POP. Head back to Epcot.
Soarin FP+ 7-8p
Test Track FP+ 8-9.
Illuminations at 9.

8/22 MK. EMH 8am
Tour Tomorrowland because we always neglect it.
9:50-10:50 Splash FP
10:50-11:50 BTMRR (plan on getting there at opening of window)
Try to get into lunch at BOG right afterwards.
12-1p LM
1-2p POTC Bonus FP
Head back for pool time. Dinner at POP. Either do Movies Under the Stars at POP or head to DTD (if DTD, will eat at EOS)

8/23 EP FW. EMH 8am
Innoventions, Nemo, etc.
Test Track 9:10-10:10am
Character Spot 10:10-11:10am
Soarin' 11:10-12:10
Eat lunch at Sunshine Seasons
Head back for pool time.
Dinner at POP.
Putt-putt.

8/24 MK
Leisurely day. Maybe start with pool time at POP.
A Dream Come True parade viewing FP 2:45-3:05
Pirates Bonus FP 5:40-6:40
MSEP viewing 8:40-9:05
Wishes viewing 9:35-9:55.

This is the only day I have qualms about. That means I will get no other FP for rides that day, and since we are going to get there late, lines and crowds may be nuts. Or, maybe everybody else will have gone to the pool by that time!:cool2: I also wasn't planning on eating dinner at the park, so now I need to look into Plaza or LTT.

If you don't have tickets in the MDX website, how are you making FP+ reservations? I can't make FP+ reservations because I have not input ("linked") any tickets (see my previous post). Am I overlooking a way to make FP+ reservations without having tickets in the MDX system?

I guess I'm not sure? Maybe I linked them a while ago? I don't really know. I may have. Does 'linking' them just mean making them visible to the MDE portion of the site? If so, then I guess I did at some point.

FYI Not all of Epcot FW is open for AM EMH. I am pretty sure that Nemo/Living Seas will not open until 9. Not sure about Innoventions.

If you booked a package with WDW that includes tickets, then your tickets are automatically linked in your MDE account.

Ah, yes, thanks. This is our first time staying on-site, so our first experience with EMH.

Is there a link that will tell me what will be open? Ditto for MK am EMH.

I expressed some concern that we wouldn't be able to make FP+ reservations in advance, but she seemed to think that it wouldn't really be a problem because it is a limited test and so we aren't competing with thousands and thousands of other people for the time slots.

THIS is the part that worries me. It seems Disney thinks that when this darn thing goes live, it's going to be tough to do last minute FP+ times. Either to get the first time or change things. I do not want to be planning what time I'm doing everything so far in advance. I want flexibility. I have 4 kids, one ASD and one a preschooler, I NEED flexibility. At least with normal FP, I stand as much of a chance getting something as anyone else walking into the park at the same time. I could feed the quirks.

I just got off the phone with a CM in "FastPass+ Testing", and she was very helpful and seemed knowledgable as to how the testing was going to work.

We have a triple split stay starting August 10. We check into Pop on August 17 and yesterday we were prompted to customize our MB's for that portion of our stay, which we did. We have not gotten an email or anything indicating that we are part of a test group. However, on the off chance that we ARE testing, I was concerned that our MB's would not arrive in time, since we leave home on the 10th. I was also concerned about how it would work with our PAP vouchers (if I link them on the MDX site, they will be linked to the MB's... which aren't "live" for us until the Pop stay at the end of our trip. I don't want to invalidate the ticket media for the first part of the trip!)

I called the main WDW reservation line and got a CM who tried to find out all this information, gave up, and gave me a different number to call for more info. I called, and it was told as follows:

1. By virtue of staying at Pop on those dates, we ARE part of the testing, and our MB's are coming. She placed an order to have our MB shipment expedited (she thinks it will be a FedEx delivery) so they arrive before we leave on the 10th. If they somehow DON'T arrive before we leave, we will be issued MB's at check in. She believes in that instance they will be the Iconic Gray.

2. She recommended that we NOT link our PAP vouchers through the MDX site. She strongly suggested that we wait till we are onsite, exchange our vouchers for regular AP's, then work with the concierge at POP (or use our smartphone) when we arrive there to make the FP+ reservations. She had the same concerns I did about messing up the APs for the first part of our trip by linking them to the MB's. I expressed some concern that we wouldn't be able to make FP+ reservations in advance, but she seemed to think that it wouldn't really be a problem because it is a limited test and so we aren't competing with thousands and thousands of other people for the time slots.

It sounds like there are definitely some kinks to be worked out, especially with the AP's. I'm excited to be testing it, but also glad that we are doing it at the END of our trip, after we will have already done our "must do's".

When you say "by vitue of staying at Pop those days we ARE part of the testing..." does that mean that you are not able to opt out? We are staying at AKL 8/22-30 and have no desire to test. I am really hoping to be able to opt out.

Of course you can opt out by merely not making any FP+ reservations and not using any. The rub is whether or not you will be locked out of using FP-. I am not sure about that.

Why would we loose that if there is no magic bands we will be getting hard tickets? I by no means think I will be able to use both fp + and FP- if I have the MB. If I do great but if not that is what I signed up for.

FAQ says that if you are "Fastpass+ eligible", then you may not use FP-. Whether or not you've booked any FP+s.

As with everything else, the details are sketchy. The best you can do now is do nothing and try not to worry.

I didn't ask about opting out, so I'm not sure.

I would hope they would honor guest requests NOT to be part of the testing, and that they would be able to separate the park admission in such a way as to allow those guests access to the existing FP system. But I really have no clue.

Unsure about opt-out for the testing, but once FP+ is fully rolled out, it is pretty clear that you will not be able to use FP- (if you are "FP+ eligible", which presumably will be most everyone).

I agree with you. Once it's rolled out, everyone with a ticket will have to use FP+ or no FP at all.

Someone on the other thread just said they opted out of this round of testing, so it seems it can be done.
