Magic bands if onsite not booked through Disney

Someone l know has an onsite stay which they booked online, but not through Disney. Same with their park tickets. Do they get magic bands when they check-in to their onsite hotel or do you only get them included if you book direct with Disney?

Both. The Magic Bands are connected to an on site hotel reservation not to a booking agent. If you book from the UK you pick them up when you check in to the hotel regardless of whom you book with. Disney don't ship Magic Bands to the UK even if you book with them direct.

Ps. If they link their reservation on MDE they can choose their magic band colours and name to have written on them. Otherwise they will just get boring old grey ones.
