Hi,
Sorry if this has been answered before but my son and his friends are traveling down in June and have two reservations for all at two different resorts (split stay). They will receive one magic band for each reservation. I guess what I need to understand for them is this.. if their tickets are linked to first magic band do we have to deactivate the first magic band and move the ticket to the second magic band? Will the fingerprint from the first magic band travel with the ticket or will a new fingerprint become associated with the second magic band? So confusing...

TIA

Their tickets are not really on the magic band. They are on their MDE account. Magic Bands just link to that accounts. They could wear a different one every day, and if they were attached to the same account they should all work.

tickets are linked to MD.
magic bands have no info stored on them.
no need to deactivate magic bands.
both sets of magic bands can be active and used at the same time.
also disney does not fingerprint you.
its biometrics which is different.

This is really confusing... Won't they need each band to operate the doors at their resorts and therefore need two bands? Is there a FAQ somewhere on the MBs?
I added them to my MDE account so that I could make FP+ reservations to the MBs once tickets are purchased.

Think of the magic band as the key that unlocks the information that is stored in the MDX account. That information is not stored on the band. the band just works as a conduit to access it. No, they will not NEED two bands. Any band assigned to them should work interchangeably.

If they want to, they can deactivate a set manually in MDX and use just one set of bands for everything. Or if they would like to wear different color bands, they can wear a different band each day (as long as each person wears a band that is assigned specifically to him.)

again no info is on the magic bands.
its all on MDE.
any active magic band will open the resort room door once a room has been assigned.
if it makes you feel less confused then deactivate the first set of bands after checking out of the first resort and then only use the second set of magic bands for the second resort.

Are their two reservations also on your account? If everything is connected, reservations and their profiles etc, the MBs that are sent will be linked to the MDE account which is also linked to the reservations and the tickets.

If it's all connected then both sets of MBs can be used interchangably, opening doors for both reservations. Though you do have to do the checkout process (or be beyond official checkout time) to get properly checked into the next resort FYI.

For room keys, think of it this way. We checked into Pop Century and the online check in line was extremely long. I had everything linked in the My Disney Experience account but had the MagicBands out and ready. Since the line was so long, there were Cast Members walking along the queue line talking to people and if everything was in order with the MDE account, we were told to go over to another area where we were given our welcome packet. At no time was my MagicBand ever taken from me. If our room hadn't been ready, I was told because ours was, we would have been texted with the room number later in the day. Again, no one touched our MagicBands except us. It's all in the account.

If they are old enough to be traveling by themselves, wouldn't it be better if they have their own MDE accounts? So they can manage their FP+ and other trip elements more easily?

This might also make it more clear to you how the system works. The MBs have NOTHING "loaded" on them. A MB is only a link to the MDE account of the person to whom it is assigned. Many people now have more than one MB assigned to them, and they can be used interchangeably for all elements that are in their MDE account (park pass, room reservation, FP+).

Think of the MBs as liaisons between the scanners and your MDE. Nothing is on the actual MB. When you go to enter your room or a park, or use a FF+, or use your DDP, when you 'scan' your MB, it connects with your account and lets you into the proper room, or park, or attraction.
I have 10+ of the silly things....and will be sent 3 more in the next few months. I can use a different one every day of my stay.....well, as long as the battery in it is still good. In fact, I usually have 3 or 4 with me for each trip. Then I can change MBs depending on my mood or outfit.

Thank you all! I think I am little clearer and will talk to my son and his friends about setting up a new MDE account under his new NU Husky student email account! He starts in September! (That's him at 11 waiting for the bus at AK)
