Magic bands and DVC rental question?

We bought our tickets separately from Disney last week and had them linked to our "My Disney Experience" accounts. We also rented DVC points from a 3rd party vendor, for a bungalow at the Poly, which was also linked to our "My Disney Experience" accounts. We received our tickets in the mail yesterday. Do we need to request magic bands at some point and/or will we just trade these tickets in for magic bands when we get to our resort, or first park?

You should see a request for you to "customize" your MBs for this trip in your MDE account.
If not, call WDW I.T.
After you customize them, your MBs will be sent to you within a couple of weeks before your trip.
(If you don't live in the USA, your MBs will be waiting for you at the check-in desk at your DVC resort.)

You will not trade tickets for MBs.
Both your ticket cards and your MBs will work at WDW, interchangeably.

You just need to link the DVC reservation to your MDE account where the MBs are linked.

The MBs will then provide the link for door access, ticket and FP usage, etc.

As hiroMYhero noted, you need to link the room reservation to MDE (if not already linked). If the system sees that you already have MagicBands, there should be an option to decline them by individual on the customization page. You have to confirm the mailing address before you will see the decline option.
