Wait! You mean we're allowed to take them off?!?!?
We had a split stay and now have multiple sets of bands. I had the experience of bringing the 'wrong' set to the check-in desk. It should work, and did, but the CM was not at all sure about setting it up our room to work with old bands.
First we used one to unlock the dragon on Disney Infinity, and then they went back in the box. We will take them with us for our split stay this October, and use them to match whatever we are wearing. We will have 3 each for the trip, though DH will likely get grey again, so his may not go.
I don't do anything special with the Band, but I take the "packing" out of the MB box and use it as a "Trip Box" and put Park Maps,Times Guides,EMH Times Guides,Resort Guides, pictures, etc. from that trip in the box with the Band.

I currently have 5 sets of 4 and will be getting my 6th set of 4 in about 3 weeks .....
The amount of money Disney is wasting is unbelievable in this situation, I cannot believe they haven't figured out how to "re-use" the Magic Bands at this point!!
We were told to deactivate them when we go home?? Anyone know how to do that...I know it has something to do with the numbers on the back of the band. We were told if we still had tickets left on them and didn't have hard copies of the ticket... and the bands were left activated and lost battery life those tickets would be lost too??? We used all of our tickets, so not a big deal for us, but curious if anyone has deactivated and how.

That doesn't really make sense because your tickets are linked to your MDE account, not "on" the magic bands. You should be able to see your tickets from a computer regardless of battery life in the MB. In theory. Lol, I guess with this new stuff, you never know!

To deactive it, you just have to go into your MDE account. You click on the band you want to deactivate and it will take you to another screen that has a box to check to deactivate it.
If you search magic band Disney infinity on YouTube, several videos will come up. I am traveling at the moment, and I don't want to accidentally post a link to a video that may contain any inappropriate language.
I take mine out every so often and wear it around the house, staring at my countdown ticker and weeping silently because I'm not going sooner
Just kidding, of course (mostly!) - our bands are in a drawer not really having much function beyond me putting it on from time to time and trying to pretend I'm at WDW.
