Magic Bands 101

Thank you so much for the quick response. I guess we'll do as you suggest, either deactivate the bands we're not using, or put them in the hotel safe, as we would other valuables. We do love the convenience of the Magic Bands and it'll be fun to have different colors to wear.

I apologize if this has been answered before. I have multiple magic bands. How am I personally connected to the bands? If one was taken from our hotel room, could it be used by a thief to enter the park or re-enter our hotel room or any other function that doesn't require a pin? Couldn't anyone in possession of the band do the Mickey to Mickey contact on the readers?

The thief could enter you hotel room with the stolen MB, but s/he could not enter the parks. You need to scan both your finger and your band when you enter the parks so s/he would not be given access. S/he would be asked to show ID which they could not do as it would not match your name.

We each have more than six bands, have never deactivated any of them and have never had an issue. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. If it concerns you then just throw you extra bands in the safe.

And since they would need to know what hotel you're staying at as well as your room number, I'd say that's an unlikely scenario.

I'd forgotten about the finger scan. That makes all the difference. Can't wait for our next trip in March 2015. I'll be combing the boards till then, learning tips and letting the excitement build. Thanks!!

:thanks:

I have magic bands from our previous trip last December. If I order new bands will the old ones automatically be deactivated? I thought it might be nice to have two sets... different colors to match different outfits. :flower3:
Anyone know?

And just keep in mind that no information is stored on the bands themselves. They simply have a unique identifier that is tied to your MDEx profile. Without the PIN/finger scan/room number they will be useless to anyone else.

No, they will not be deactivated. You can have multiple sets all active at the same time. They simply read the information in your MDEx profile. I have active bands in all seven colors and can use them interchangeably.

I read the first section of When MB are shipped and it said 29 days then after the trial 10 days before check in, which is it? thanks

They are still being shipped out 29 days in advance for those that have customized them.

I'm sorry if this has been answered already, but I'm having a difficult time trying to search this answer and hoping someone can help out.

I just received our passes today in the mail but I thought that I would be receiving Magic Bands instead. I figured we wouldn't get those till closer to our trip in October, before we leave. But is it customary for Disney to send you the plastic cards also? We are staying on site so I was only expecting the bands.

Thanks for any help!

If you booked a room-only reservation and purchased the tickets separately, then that's why the tickets arrived first. You can link the tickets to your MDE account and when your MagicBands arrive, you won't have to do anything else. Just take the tickets with you in case you need to verify anything with MDE.

With the tickets linked in MDE, you can select your FPs 60 days prior to your resort stay.

That's exactly what I did. Had the room purchased through Expedia and linked that first through MDE, then purchased the tickets on the Disney site. At that time I had put the other peoples names who are going also, and are listed on my MDE. With that being said, I shouldn't have to do anything else then because I linked the purchase to the MDE account, correct? And should be set to choose our FP+ selections?

Sorry if I'm overstating the obvious. Just with this being my first time with the new system, I don't want to flub it up and miss out on making choices @ our 60 day mark. Thanks.

You should have no problems at all as long as everything is linked to MDE. I did the same thing only called and purchased our park tickets. Within 24 hours they were linked to my MDE account. Our 60 day window was on Friday and I had no problem booking fastpass+ at 12:01am. Worked like a charm. Just remember it will only show 30 days for now. Only when you are officially at 60 days with your Disney hotel reservation will it show 60 days for fastpass+. Hope this helps! Enjoy your vacation!

I will have 3 MBs for my Oct trip, AP and 2 Disney resorts. Will they all have the same information?

I may only have my AP when I arrive at MCO, and wondered if it will have the 1st resort information, so I can use it for DME. The AP is on my MDE as well as the resorts info.

Going to wear them like bangles!

The information is on your MDE profile, not on the bands. All the bands can access that information, so you can use any or all of the bands.

I have an AP and an upcoming trip with a 2-day ticket which I needed to get for my free dining package. My Magic Band will have both of these tickets on them. I don't wanna use this 2-day ticket and don't want it to get accidently used. What should I do?

Go to Guest Relations and ask them to prioritize the tickets.

Just go into your profile and deactivate the 2-day pass. You can reactivate it at any time.

We are staying at Shades of Green so our room will not be linked to magic bands. We can buy tickets ahead of time and link to an account and make fastpass reservations. My question is if we purchase the magic bands in the park, will we be able to customize them there with our names?

Thank you!:)
