Magic Bands 101

Yes the names show on the CMs screen.

During our last 2 trips, my DH used my band all the time since I don't do the thrill rides. He took one DD and rode, came out and got our other DD and my band and rode again. No problems.

I'm glad this was asked and answered because we wondered the same thing. My mom and I don't ride that much, but my sister and husband do. I wasn't sure if they took our MBs if it would be questioned why my husbands came up with a girl name.
 
I was looking on eBay, and people are actually selling their Magic Bands for like $40+! Who would buy them? Does that seem crazy to anyone else?

If you are able to link those MBs to your MDE account and then link tickets you can prebook. Would be an advantage to those staying off site. No clue if you are able to link the MB to a diff MDE account though. Could get interesting if you can.

Magic bands unlock a special character in the Disney Infinity game. That could be why.

This isn't working for me yet. We have a "bookended" trip coming up (some days onsite, some offsite, then a couple more offsite) with Annual Passes and I keep getting a message for the offsite days that we have "reached our limit" for FPs -- altho I have the onsite days all scheduled. I did get a message that they were going to start a "random" test with APs to be able to use the system, but guess I didn't make the random cut (or it hasn't started yet).
 
I am not exactly sure how the Photopass will work. I would assume that it would be tied to anyone in your Family and Friends network but don't quote me on that.

Everyone gets their own band and fast pass + ride choices can be scheduled for separate people in your party

How many days do you currently have scheduled (your on-site days)? I believe you can only schedule 7 days at a time with AP's so that may be the issue. I am an AP and I have had my FP+ booked for our trip next month since our 60 day window opened up. We are staying on-site but I only booked the room a few days ago so we had no room ressie when I made them.

We made our reservations back in September '13. We had until February 1, 2014 to customize our MB's, they were then shipped to us overnight for a check-in date of March 4, 2014. This may be an update from the earliest postings. :cool1:
 
When you scan your MB which name comes up on the CM's iPad...the name assigned to your WDW.com account or the name you assigned to/included on your MB? Thanks!!

The name listed on your WDW account is what will come up. The name that you chose when you customized the band will be printed on the underside of the band and will not be seen in Disney's system.

Thank you!! We have two riders and two non riders in our group and I've read reports about people giving family members their band to scan if they ride more. I don't know if this is considered wrong or not. We are normally strict rule followers :) If doing this is wrong and my husband uses my band and it comes up as a girl name and they tell him he can't go in that would be so embarrassing, so I wondered which name comes up and also if its considered breaking the rules to share bands. Thanks!
 
When we visited this past October, we had the magicbands loaded with our resort and park tickets. We are going back in May. Can I link the bands as soon as I have a room reservation, or are you required to have both the room and tickets booked first?

Once you have the room reservation, you can make sure it is linked to your MDE account. Then once you get the tickets, link them as well. Once the room and tickets are both linked, you can make FP+ reservations.

It has always been a month for shipping of MB. About 30 days before your arrival date, customization closes and they ship them out. I have not seen anything about two weeks. I know ours also says March 12, which is 30 days before we get there.
 
I don't know if this is the right place to post this...but is it true that we can stay onsite one night, get our magic bands for our 10day pass, and then use the mbs and FP+ for the entire 10 days....even if we spend the other 9 nights off site?? How easy is this to get to work??? We are a large group coming in JUly and I want to get all the details!! TIA

This was true, but then just a few days ago I heard that loophole was closed. Not sure what the official word is.
 
ugh! THat's what I was worried about. Any ideas where I can get more information on this??? Or am I just going to have to "wait it out???"

I realize there may be an answer to this later in the thread, please forgive me, I just found this yesterday and read slow. We are going to be staying at AKL with DVC points and have a confirmation number for our AP's attached to our MDEx accounts, but we have no hard tickets, not even vouchers. We were told by a DVC CM that we would need to go to a guest relations desk with our ID and DVC member cards and get our hard cards in addition to them having already being attached to the MDEx accounts. We do already have our MB's.:cool1: Is this true. It's not a big issue, but I'd hate to have to waste the time, for the CM's as well as my hubby and I, if this is not necessary. TIA

Yes, you take your printed AP ticket receipt, ID & DVC member card to any of the 4 parks to receive actual passes & passes activated @ that time.
 
Is there any way to get a usable MagicBand without making a reservation? I know you are able to buy MagicBands off eBay but I would not be able to attach one to my MDE account to add tickets to.

You can also go to Guest Relations at Downtown Disney. Usually less crowded.
